Chapter 309 Calling Me Uncle Will Stop Me from Bullying You?

"So, this is the wedding gift you got for Kelly and Ryan?" Xavier asked after Grace hung up the phone.

Grace grinned, "Yeah, a family reunion. Uncle Xavier, don't you think it's sweet?"

Xavier's eyes darkened, and he pulled her close by the waist. "You call me that, thinking I won't mess with you?"

Just a bit ago, Xavier had told Grace to call him uncle, and she had flat-out refused. Now she was trying to play him. Bold move.

Grace smirked, "Isn't this what you wanted, Uncle Xavier? Not happy with it?"

She wrapped herself in the blanket and tried to sneak off to the bathroom, but Xavier just yanked the blanket back, pulling her with it.

"I was wrong," she quickly admitted, looking at him with puppy eyes. "I can't do this anymore."

With the blanket around Grace, Xavier was now stark naked, and she could see everything. She was stunned.

She quickly shared the blanket with him, trying to change the subject. "I'm starving."

"I didn't get to eat a big meal today," Grace complained.

She was supposed to have a nice lunch, but Xavier showed up, and they ended up going home instead.

Xavier sighed. "I'll owe you one and make it up next time."

Dinner was already set. Grace went into the walk-in closet, and Xavier headed to the bathroom.

Xavier had prepped clothes for her. When Grace walked into the closet, she saw the other side filled with women's clothes, all her size—coats, clothes, pants, skirts, even lingerie.

They were hanging right next to Xavier's clothes, like she was the lady of the house. They weren't there before, and she had no clue when he got them.

Grace quickly changed and went downstairs with Xavier.

The servants at Bameran Villa had laid out a feast, rivaling the Montgomery family wedding banquet.

"So fancy?" Grace's eyes lit up at the spread.

Xavier shrugged, "Didn't you say you missed out on a big meal at lunch? So I made it up to you."

Grace didn't hesitate. "Being with you, I can live the good life!"

She was really hungry and didn't bother with any pretense in front of Xavier. She dug in.

Xavier hadn't eaten all day either. He'd been busy until dawn and rushed back without even grabbing a bite. Plane food sucked, so he skipped it.

"Xavier, how can you eat so elegantly?" Grace thought she looked like a hobo in comparison.

Xavier replied, "Just a habit."

Grace picked up a lobster and handed it to him. "Then eat this!"

She didn't believe he could stay elegant while eating lobster.

There were tools nearby, and the servants would help if needed, but Xavier had sent them away, so he did it himself.

Grace watched him, his movements slow and precise, making sure each piece of meat stayed intact. Some people just had it.

Xavier quickly peeled the lobster and placed it on a plate, pushing it in front of Grace.

"I meant for you to eat it, not peel it for me," Grace said, pushing it back. "I have hands. If I want to eat, I can do it myself."

Xavier smirked, "I want to peel it for you."

Grace beamed, "Mr. Montgomery, you're a pro at this. How many women have you peeled for?"

Xavier raised an eyebrow, "What do you think?"

Grace teased, "Am I the only one?"

Xavier chuckled, "You already know the answer."

Grace asked, "Ms. Park has known you for years, right?"

Xavier nodded, "Yeah."

He had met Joseph when he first went to Oakworth, and that's when he met Stephanie.

Grace continued, "All these years, she never asked you to peel for her?"

Xavier shrugged, "The Park family has plenty of servants."

There were plenty of people lining up to peel for Stephanie.

Grace smirked, "So does the Montgomery family, but you peel for me."

Xavier picked up another lobster, peeled it for Grace, and placed it in her bowl. "You're different."

Grace felt a warm flutter in her heart. Xavier was surprisingly good at this flirting game.

Did this really sound like something Xavier would say? He had seemed so cold before, but who knew that after they were a couple, Xavier would change. Could it be that Victor taught him?

Even though Grace told herself to stay rational and not be swayed by him, his words still made her feel unreal.

Grace and Xavier took their time eating. After finishing, Grace checked the time. "I think I should be heading back now."

"I'm going back to Oakworth tomorrow," Xavier said.

Grace nodded. "I know."

Xavier said, "So, stay tonight."

Not sure how long Xavier would be in Oakworth before returning to Skigeth, Grace decided to stay.

The price of staying was that she was intimate with Xavier until late at night.

Having napped in the afternoon, Grace wasn't sleepy even though it was late.

At that moment, Xavier's phone rang. He glanced at the number, and his eyes darkened.

He picked up the phone. "I'll take this call outside."

Grace nodded. "Okay."

Grace didn't think much about why Xavier had to take the call in private.

She believed everyone had their own matters, and being with Xavier didn't mean he had to tell her everything.

Xavier went out to the balcony. It was late, and the night sky was quiet, with darkness all around.

"Speak," Xavier answered the call, his voice icy.

The number belonged to the person investigating his mother, Donna White.

He had always believed Donna's death wasn't an accident. It happened too suddenly. Donna went out alone and never came back.

Donna's body was discovered in the sea, her waterlogged remains devoid of any evidence, suggesting nothing more than a mere suicide.

But Xavier didn't believe Donna would commit suicide. There had to be something he didn't know.

At that time, he was too young and powerless. Even if he had told everyone that Donna wouldn't have committed suicide—how she had left home smiling, asking him to wait for her return, and advising him to avoid conflict with Ryan—no one believed him.

So Donna's death was concluded as a suicide, and young Xavier was powerless to change it.

By the time he had the power, too much time had passed. Any evidence from back then would have been erased, making it even harder to investigate.

The last thing Xavier found was that Donna had met Evelyn before her death.

Donna and Evelyn had always seemed to have a strained relationship, but Xavier didn't know the specifics.

Xavier thought, 'Now, have they found something new as they call so late?'
