Chapter 144 I Don't Like Him

Chapter 144    I Don't Like Him

"Grace!" Angela's voice came from behind. "So here you are, I've been looking for you."

Grace seized the opportunity and said, "Mr. Hastings, my friend is looking for me, so I'll take my leave."

"Alright!" Victor nodded.

Grace hurried over to Angela. "What's the matter, Angela?"

"Why didn't you answer my calls? Why did you run off so quickly? I didn't even see you in the changing room," Angela complained.

Grace said, "I ran into Mr. Hastings and chatted for a bit."

Fortunately, Victor had appeared just in time; otherwise, if Angela had inquired about her activities, she wouldn't have known how to answer.

Now Angela thought she had been chatting with Victor the whole time and naturally wouldn't suspect that she had been in the changing room earlier.

"No wonder I couldn't find you. But why didn't you answer my calls if you were chatting with Mr. Hastings?"Angela asked.

"I didn't notice, I'm sorry."

"It's not a big deal, no need to apologize, Grace. Let me spill the tea. I just heard some big news. Someone was doing that kind of thing in the changing room!"

Grace's heart, which had just calmed down, started to race again because of Angela's words.

"What kind of thing?"

"A man and a woman in the changing room, what else could it be? But that's not the point. The point is, I waited outside the changing room for a while, and do you know who that man was?"

Grace felt a wave of panic; Angela had indeed seen something.

"Who was it?"Grace asked.

"It was Xavier! That high and mighty, aloof Xavier!" Angela said excitedly.

"It's just unimaginable. Xavier, who always seems so devoid of desire, would do such a thing. Who do you think the woman was, who could have captivated Xavier?"Angela was excited.

Grace remained silent.

The person was right in front of Angela, but she hadn't even considered Grace.

Angela continued to speculate, "Do you think it could be Stephanie? She claims to be Xavier's girlfriend. If they are a couple, it's not surprising they'd do such a thing."

"But Stephanie didn't go racing. What would she be doing in the changing room? If it's not Stephanie, then who? Jessica is still unconscious," Angela added.

Angela analyzed the situation but couldn't figure out who could have tamed Xavier.

That was Xavier, rumored to be indifferent to women. Associating him with a woman was an insult to him.

Such a legendary Xavier, now just like ordinary people, was also lost in love.

Angela spoke excitedly, but then she noticed that Grace didn't seem excited at all.

"Grace, why do you seem unhappy?"

"I'm not, I'm all ears." Grace, who had just been in the changing room, felt a bit embarrassed.

She and Angela were close friends, and she shouldn't keep such things hidden from Angela. However, Xavier's unique position made it complicated.

"I'm sorry!" Angela suddenly apologized, as if she had thought of something.

"Why are you apologizing? If anyone should apologize, it's probably me." Grace had been hiding her relationship with Xavier from Angela.

"Tell me the truth, are you feeling really upset right now? It's just us here. If you need to cry, you can lean on my shoulder. I won't make fun of you."

Grace was puzzled. "Why would I cry?"

"I can sense that your feelings towards Xavier are complex. He is indeed great and handsome. Such a man would definitely make a girl fall for him. Look, so many women like him. It wouldn't be surprising if you liked him too."

Angela continued, "When you see Stephanie, don't you just hate her? And I told you about Xavier and another woman in the changing room. You must feel even worse, right?"

Angela thought that Grace might indeed have feelings for Xavier. Although Grace never admitted it, her demeanor always changed when Xavier was mentioned. Like today, she seemed to be in a constant state of unhappiness.

Grace hadn't expected Angela to think so much. "Angela, you..."

Angela, showing a knowing expression, said, "If you're unhappy, just tell me. I'll always be by your side!"

Grace leaned closer to Angela. "Thank you, Angela, you're truly the best friend!"

Having such a good friend like Angela made her feel that her life was worthwhile.

"I'm not unhappy. There are indeed some stories between Xavier and me, but I can't tell you right now."

"Then be honest with me, do you like him?"

Grace hesitated for a moment. "I don't like him."

Even if she felt a flutter in her heart, she had to stop it before it turned into an uncontrollable affection. She was adamant that she didn't like Xavier, absolutely not. Repeating this to herself a few more times would solidify the truth.

Furthermore, Grace truly detested drama. If she were to harbor any feelings for Xavier, it would only invite unnecessary competition and conflicts. One Jessica was already enough to give her a headache. If Stephanie targeted her, it would be even worse, not to mention there might be other formidable opponents.

Grace's greatest desire in life was to lead a tranquil and secure existence. Her mother shared this aspiration, hoping that she could embrace a simple and ordinary life.

"Don't lie to me," Angela said.

"Why would I lie to you?" Grace pulled Angela along. "Let's go, we've had enough fun. We should head back."

Grace was afraid of seeing Xavier again; it was better to avoid him.

However, as they turned around, they saw Xavier not far away. Grace's heart skipped a beat.

"Mr. Montgomery?" Angela's eyes widened.

They had been talking about Xavier, and now he was right behind them. How much of their conversation had he overheard?

"Mr. Montgomery," Grace echoed.

'Wasn't Xavier supposed to be on a call? How did he finish so quickly?'Grace questioned inwardly.

And they had been hiding here to talk privately, yet Xavier had still found them.

'So how much had he heard of their conversation? Did he hear I didn't like him?' Grace wondered.

"Yes." Xavier merely nodded.

"Grace and I were just chatting here. When did you arrive, Mr. Montgomery?"Angela asked.

"Just now," Xavier's expression remained unchanged, revealing nothing.

Grace was uncertain, pondering what thoughts were running through Xavier's mind at that very moment. His gaze was cold, piercing to the bone.

He must have heard quite a bit. Grace parted her lips, eager to elucidate her thoughts, but not knowing how.

"Mr. Montgomery, you go ahead and have fun. Grace and I will be leaving now." With that, Angela quickly pulled Grace away.

Xavier watched Grace's retreating figure. He took a cigarette from his bag, lit it, and placed it between his lips. The smoke swirled around, making his face look almost unreal. A mocking smile played on his lips.

'Grace didn't like me?' Xavier thought to himself.

"Grace, do you think Xavier heard what we were saying? I really can't imagine that the Xavier we just saw is the same person as the one I heard in the changing room! But he is really handsome. Spending a night with him wouldn't be a loss," Angela said.

Angela kept talking, but Grace wasn't really listening. Her mind was filled with the image of Xavier's expression as Angela pulled her away.

Grace felt a strange discomfort in her heart.

'That wasn't what I meant earlier. Should I go back and explain?'She pondered.
