Chapter 263 She's A Liar!

When Grace's phone rang, it was just one o'clock.

It was a call from Angela, and Grace quickly answered, "Angela."

'Why is Angela calling me so late? Is there an urgent matter at hand?' Grace thought.

"Grace, are you resting? Omari has been involved in a car accident and has been admitted to the hospital. I'm alone here and quite overwhelmed. Could you possibly come and lend me a hand?"

Grace's heart skipped a beat when she heard this. "Omari was in a car accident?"

"Yes." Angela's voice was choked with tears. "Omari is still in the emergency room. I'm a bit scared, Grace."

"Don't worry. I'll be right there," Grace reassured her.

Grace couldn't attend to Xavier at the moment. Xavier was at home and had fallen asleep; he was certainly safe. Moreover, Kieran and many others were taking care of Xavier.

In the absence of knowing the cause of Omari's accident, Grace experienced an unexplained sense of guilt during this crucial moment. She wondered if her words from earlier in the afternoon had inadvertently distracted Omari while he was driving.

If it was really because of her and something happened to Omari, Grace would feel like a weight was pressing on her heart.

Grace found Kieran. "I'm sorry. Something's up, and I gotta go. Please take good care of Xavier. If he wakes up, make sure he drinks some porridge and hangover soup. Call me if anything happens."

"Okay," Kieran agreed.

Despite her lingering concern for Xavier and her initial intentions to tend to him, the urgency of the current situation compelled Grace to shift her focus elsewhere.

Even if it wasn't for Omari, she had to go see Angela, becasue Angela sounded terrified.

Grace drove to the hospital address Angela had sent. Wasn't this the hospital where Ryan worked?

However, Grace didn't think much about it. She went straight upstairs and found Angela. "Angela, are you okay?"

Angela shook her head. "It's nothing serious. Just some minor injuries. They've already been treated, and Omari has been moved to a ward."

"Grace, why did you come without any makeup?" Angela looked at her face.

"I was freaking out when I got the call. I didn't have time to touch up. But it's good that Omari is okay." Grace said.

"Let me touch up your makeup. I happened to bring my makeup kit," Angela said.

Angela pulled Grace to sit on a chair outside the ward and started touching up her makeup.

Due to their proximity, Xavier caught a whiff of the alcohol emanating from Grace. "Why do you reek of alcohol? Did you go drinking? And you didn't invite me!"

Grace replied, "No, I just took a drunk person home."

"Who? Was it Mr. Montgomery?" Angela asked.

Grace nodded.

Angela was surprised. "Did I interrupt something by calling you over?"

Grace said, "He was really drunk. I just took him home. There are plenty of people at his place to take care of him."

"I was just too anxious. The police called me, and I didn't know what was going on. I was freaking out and had to handle all the hospital procedures and payments, so I called you," Angela confessed.

"Have you finished everything? I'll go with you," Grace asked.

Angela responded, "Sure, there are still some procedures left."

Grace accompanied Angela to complete the remaining procedures. It was already late at night.

Angela was about to go in and check on Omari, but Grace stayed at the door, not intending to go in.

"Come on in, Grace." Angela  said.

Grace shook her head. "I'll stay out here."

"Why? Omari is still unconscious," Angela said.

Grace still didn't go in. Angela sensed something was wrong and stepped out of the ward. "Did something happen between you and Omari? I heard Omari say this afternoon that the company needed some perfume and wanted to collaborate with you."

Grace and Angela sat on a bench in the hallway, and Grace said, "Omari did mention that. We were supposed to have lunch together this afternoon."

Grace thought momentarily and decided to tell Angela everything.

"You mean Omari said he liked you in front of Xavier?" Grace asked.

Dear God, that didn't sound like something Omari would do. Omari was a coward when it came to feelings.

Otherwise, Omari wouldn't have liked Grace for so many years without ever expressing it.

Unfortunately, it seemed Omari was too late.

While Angela held the hope that Grace would eventually become Omari's wife, she understood that feelings could not be forced. Moreover, she chose to prioritize her friendship with Grace over any allegiance to Omari.

"Maybe he had a conflict with Xavier and said it on purpose," Grace didn't want to guess and couldn't figure it out.

"That's definitely not it. Omari indeed likes you," Angela admitted openly for Omari.

Grace looked at Angela in surprise, and Angela nodded. "I know about this."

"To be honest, Omari has been infatuated with you for a long time. But he was afraid to confess, fearing it would ruin your friendship. When he asked you out for meals in the past, did you sense something and avoid him?"

Grace didn't know Omari liked her before, but she admitted she had been avoiding him.

Maybe it was because of Xavier, who always told her that Omari wasn't a good person and to stay away from him.

"You know our family's situation. Even if Omari likes you, it doesn't mean anything. I don't want you to marry into our family and suffer. You are well aware that Edith fancies Omari, and as for my parents, I hold little affection for them.If you really married in, you would have a difficult time. I don't support it."

As Grace's dearest friend, Angela naturally wished for Grace to lead the most fulfilling life.

Even Angela didn't want to go back to that house.

Angela said, "You don't need to feel pressured. I'll talk to Omari, but our friendship won't change because of anything."

Grace nodded. "Of course!"

At dawn, Xavier woke up. His head was splitting, and he propped himself up from the bed.

The room was empty, with no one around.

Was it a dream? He clearly felt Grace by his bedside, telling him to sleep peacefully and that she would stay by his side.

But when he woke up, he didn't see her anywhere.

Even seeing Grace at the bar last night felt like a dream.

Could it really have been a dream? In the dream, Grace was so gentle and considerate, letting him hold and kiss her.

Xavier rose from his restless state, his body feeling uncomfortable. Kieran, who had barely slept all night, saw Xavier and quickly approached. "Mr. Montgomery, you're awake."

"There's oatmeal and hangover soup here, all made by that pretty lady," Kieran said.

Xavier's eyes lit up. Could it be Grace?

It wasn't a dream!

"Where is she?" Xavier's voice was filled with urgency.

Kieran replied, "She left shortly after bringing you back."

Xavier's eyes dimmed. She left right after bringing him back? So eager to leave?
