Chapter 204 All Part of Grace's Plan

After a while, Grace finally opened Xavier's contact and sent a message: [Thanks.]

She expressed her gratitude to Xavier for taking care of her yesterday.

Xavier replied after a bit: [You should sleep.]

Grace: [Aren't you asleep yet?]

Xavier: [Still have some work to do.]

No wonder he makes money, working so late.

Grace sent his words back to him: [You should sleep.]

Xavier replied: [Okay.]

His replies were always short and to the point.

Xavier: [Don't go to the office tomorrow, rest at home.]

Xavier: [Don't order takeout, I'll have someone bring food to you.]

Grace: [I'll rest, but no need to send food. I think someone will come to cook for me.]

Xavier: [Who?]

Grace replied: [Angela.]

She figured Angela would come.

Xavier felt a moment of relief seeing Angela's name.

Grace: [Thanks for cooking and teaching me yesterday, Mr. Montgomery. Can I ask you questions in the future?]

Xavier thought about the last time Grace got drunk and wore a school uniform. She really looked like a student then. He kind of wanted to see her in it again.

He snapped out of it when Grace sent another message because he hadn't replied.

Grace: [If it's inconvenient, it's okay.]

Xavier: [Sure.]

Grace felt a bit happier with his consent. She didn't bother him further but couldn't sleep. She lay there with her phone, giggling before starting her day.

The next morning, Grace's cold had eased. Her head was clearer, and her throat felt better.

Having slept a lot the day before, she couldn't fall back asleep after waking early. She got up, did some work, and read a book.

In the morning, she decided to warm up leftovers for breakfast. Then, there was a knock on the door.

Grace saw Angela's puzzled face on the door lock's monitor.

She opened the door and saw Angela still studying the lock.

"Grace, you're up early," Angela said.

"It's already eight. Come in." Grace let her in.

Grace wasn't surprised to see Angela. She knew she'd come.

Grace and Angela were close. Grace had taken care of Angela when she was sick before.

Angela peeked inside with a strange look. "Is it okay for me to come in?"

"Why wouldn't it be?"

Angela came in. "I was just worried someone else might be here."

She'd heard from Omari that Xavier was there yesterday, and Omari probably got a cold reception.

Angela had warned Omari against visiting, but he insisted.

"Why did you change the door lock?" Angela used to have the fingerprint and password.

As she attempted to enter the password moments ago, she noticed that the door lock appeared different. She almost thought she had the wrong house.

"Xavier changed it," Grace said.

"Why? To keep me out? Are you guys planning something and worried I'll walk in..."

"What are you thinking!" Grace poked Angela's head and explained what happened yesterday.

"So, Xavier took care of you all night? Did he stay here? Nothing happened, right?" Angela even checked Grace's neck.

No marks on Grace's neck. What a pity!

"Of course not. He left after I fell asleep. Nothing happened," Grace said.

"I set up a chance for you two yesterday. Knowing he was here, I didn't come. You're not mad, right? I've been so busy and didn't know you were sick," Angela said.

"It's just a cold, nothing serious. I know you care about me the most!" Grace hugged Angela.

"Had breakfast?" Grace asked.

"Yeah, I even bought groceries to make breakfast for you, but it looks like you've already eaten." Angela put the groceries in the fridge and sat down.

Grace served her some oatmeal. Angela tasted the dishes on the table and her face froze.

"Grace, if you're not feeling well, you shouldn't cook. These dishes have no flavor. Can't you taste it?" Angela thought Grace had cooked.

"Is it really that bad?" Grace murmured, unable to taste anything herself.

"Wait, I'll make some food for you." Angela went to the kitchen.

Angela, who grew up in the countryside, learned to cook at a young age. Her cooking skills were quite good.

Soon, two delicious-looking dishes were ready.

Grace cleaned up the table and put Xavier's dishes back in the fridge.

Angela said, "Why not throw these away? I'll make lunch for you."

Grace put them in the fridge. "It's still food, don't waste it."

Angela was puzzled. "You never used to be so frugal."

They enjoyed the breakfast Angela made. Grace had planned to go to the office, but Angela insisted she rest.

Angela decided to take the day off too and stayed to keep Grace company.

As Angela lounged on the sofa with her phone, Grace sat nearby, reading a book.

Suddenly, Angela sat up, surprised. "Grace, look at the live stream. That bitch Kelly is live right now!"

"Really?" Grace put down her book and opened her phone.

She didn't expect Kelly to act so quickly. Just yesterday, she had mentioned it, and Kelly wasted no time.

"Fuck, what's she doing!" Angela angrily watched the live stream.

In the stream, Kelly was apologizing to Grace. Her makeup was done, her face pale, and her eyes red and swollen. She looked like a victim.

The key point was Kelly was apologizing in front of the media, making a big scene.

Kelly was crying, saying, "Grace used to be my best friend. We had a great relationship, and I cherished it. I don't know what she's thinking, but she'll always be my friend."

"She wasn't good at studying before, and I often helped her. She didn't have many friends, and I was always by her side. My family was poor, and I worked part-time jobs for living expenses and tuition. I even shared my food with her. Even Ryan, he was with me first," Kelly said, as if it were true.

"She's such a liar!" Angela was more agitated than Grace. "She was the one who wasn't good at studying. If it weren't for you tutoring her, could she have gotten into college? If it weren't for you hanging out with her, would she have any friends? She slacked off during summer jobs, making you do all the work. When she got scolded, she made you take the blame. She even said she didn't have enough money and stole yours, and when I caught her, she cried and said I was framing her!"

Angela was furious. If Kelly were in front of her now, she'd slap her without hesitation.

"And without you, how would she have met Ryan? She seduced Ryan after your engagement was announced. She saw you two arguing and took advantage of it!" Angela added.
