Chapter 208 Grace Threatened Patrick
Lester quickly checked the shareholder updates and was shocked by what he saw.
How did he miss such a huge development? Patrick must be clueless too, right?
Ryan really kept this under wraps. Looks like he's in big trouble now.
Lester rushed to catch up and saw Grace about to knock on the conference room door.
The meeting was interrupted, and someone opened the door. "Who are you? Where's Lester? Doesn't he know we're in a shareholders' meeting? How can he let just anyone in?"
Lester burst in, looking pale and flustered. "Sorry, Mr. Patrick Montgomery, but something terrible has happened!"
"Grace?" Patrick was surprised to see her.
Despite Grace's sudden entrance, Patrick hid his annoyance, glaring at Lester for letting her in unannounced.
Patrick kept his cool. "Are you looking for me? I'm in a meeting. Can it wait?"
"I heard there's a shareholders' meeting?" Grace walked right in.
The shareholders, mostly in their forties and fifties, were not pleased.
"Who is this young woman? Do you know where you are? How dare you barge in here? What's wrong with security? Lester, get her out!" The shareholders were upset.
Already unhappy with the company's recent performance, they were even more annoyed by Grace's interruption.
"Isn't this a shareholders' meeting?" Grace asked.
"If you know it's a shareholders' meeting, then get out!" someone else said.
"Grace, stop causing trouble. Whatever you have to say, wait until I'm done here!" Patrick was losing his patience.
If it weren't for the others present, he would have already lost his temper.
"Mr. Patrick Montgomery, I'm not causing trouble. Why wasn't I informed about the meeting? Don't you know I'm also a shareholder?" Grace said calmly as she took a seat.
The others thought she was crazy for her age.
"Lester?" Patrick looked at Lester, signaling him to get Grace out.
But Lester walked up to Patrick, ignoring everything else, and showed him a tablet. "Mr. Patrick Montgomery, something has happened. I just saw that Mr. Ryan Montgomery has transferred all his shares."
"What? Who did he transfer them to?" Patrick and the others were shocked. How could they not know about this?
Lester looked at Grace, and everyone understood.
Ryan's entire ten percent shareholding was now in Grace's hands. None of the other shareholders had that much.
In other words, Grace now held the most shares in Montgomery Group, second only to Patrick.
"Now, do I have the right to sit here?" Grace's voice was calm but hit everyone hard.
"What is going on? No wonder Ryan isn't at the shareholders' meeting. Did you know about this?"
"Is Ryan out of his mind, giving away so many shares? What was he thinking? I told you giving shares to Ryan was a bad idea. Look at his online antics; he's ruining our image!"
"This is ridiculous. You call yourself a shareholder? You must've been swindled!"
Everyone was furious.
Patrick's face was grim. He turned to Lester. "I don't care how you do it, find Ryan!"
"And why didn't anyone tell me about this? What are you all doing? Get the relevant people here now!" Patrick was genuinely angry.
He looked at Grace, who stayed calm, but Patrick clenched his fists.
"You all leave. I'll explain this later," Patrick told the other shareholders.
They grumbled but left. Soon, only Grace and Patrick were in the room.
Usually, Patrick wore a fake smile to keep up appearances, but today he couldn't even be bothered to fake it.
"Grace, what's going on? How did Ryan's shares end up with you?"
"Mr. Patrick Montgomery, you don't know? I don't either. Ryan suddenly wanted to give me his shares. You should ask him," Grace said.
Patrick tried to stay calm, but he cursed inwardly, 'Ryan, you damn idiot!'
"I just went to the Montgomery Manor to congratulate Wendy. Besides attending the shareholders' meeting, I also came to congratulate you, Mr. Patrick Montgomery."
"Congratulate me for what?" Patrick asked. He used to think Grace was obedient, but now he realized he had underestimated her.
Grace had left the Lewis family and started her own business, showing her resilience and independence.
"To congratulate you on becoming a grandfather, Mr. Patrick Montgomery. Haven't you seen the news? Kelly is pregnant with Ryan's child," Grace said slowly.
Patrick's face darkened. What was Ryan doing?
Ryan, that idiot. Why didn't he beat him to death last time?
How could he have such a useless son? The Montgomery family was going to be ruined by Ryan!
"This must be a misunderstanding, right?" Patrick was still in disbelief.
Grace explained, "The whole world knows, so it shouldn't be a misunderstanding, Mr. Patrick Montgomery. Now that it's just us, there's no need for pretense. I'm here to break off the engagement."
"Kelly and Ryan are in love. They even have a child now. Mr. Patrick Montgomery, you shouldn't separate them. As for the shares, if you agree to break off the engagement, I'll return them all. How about that?" Grace added.
If Patrick kept resisting, Grace might start wondering if there was something about her that Patrick didn't want to let go of.
Patrick's face was grim. "Grace, we need to discuss this further. Men make mistakes, but they get better after marriage. And you know what kind of person Kelly is; she must have schemed against Ryan."
"Ryan giving you all his shares means he truly loves you. Why not wait for Ryan to come and explain?" Patrick suggested, thingking, 'Grace was tough to control, using this to threaten me.'
As for the shares, Patrick was determined to get them back at any cost.
