Chapter 558 The Ring That Wasn't Given
Angela completely ignored Edith; she had fulfilled her end of the bet. She turned her attention to Zander. "So, Mr. Ross, you're not gonna eat willingly?"
Zander shot back, "What if I don't? This is kidnapping! I'm calling the cops!"
But he didn't get the chance. Scott, losing patience, said, "If he won't eat, then force-feed him."
They had already prepared the dog feces. If Zander liked it so much, he could have his fill.
"No, no!" Zander struggled, but there was no way he could overpower Scott's men.
Angela couldn't bear to watch the scene unfold; it was too disgusting. She left, but Zander's screams echoed behind her, truly pitiful. Angela wasn't sure if Scott's men were just forcing Zander to eat or if they had done something more severe, but the screams suggested he might never be the same again.
Curious, Angela asked, "You named the livestream like that. Won't it get shut down?"
"No," Scott replied confidently.
"Why not?" Angela was puzzled. She knew livestream platforms were strict, especially with anything out of the ordinary, and Scott's content was definitely extreme. Did Scott know someone high up, or had he bribed someone?
Scott answered nonchalantly, "I bought the livestream company."
Angela was speechless. She had underestimated Scott. He had actually bought the company just for a livestream!
"Was it worth spending so much money just for Zander?" Angela felt a bit sorry for the money, even though it wasn't hers.
"Money is meant to be spent. Spending it to be happy is worth it," Scott said.
Angela couldn't argue with that logic, though it was a lot of money. "Thank you, Scott," she said, her eyes bright as she looked at him, as if he was the center of her universe.
Scott's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly looked away. "Why are you thanking me?"
"Thank you for helping me today and spending so much money. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't even know Zander and Edith, and none of this would have happened. I'll pay you back once I make some money."
"No need. It wasn't that much."
Scott's hand was in his pocket, holding something. Inside was a gift box with two rings. He had designed them himself, planning to give them to Angela today, even if it was just for show.
But just as he was about to take them out, Angela said, "Of course I have to pay you back. Your money isn't free, and in less than eleven months, we'll be divorced. It's better to keep things clear."
Scott froze, feeling a wave of disappointment wash over him. He had been happy just moments ago, but Angela's words had dampened his spirits. He stopped his motion to take out the rings, thinking she wouldn't want them anyway.
Their contract was for a year, after which they would divorce. Scott knew Angela wasn't after the Coleman family's money, but he still felt uneasy.
"What's wrong?" Angela asked, sensing his sudden change in mood.
"Nothing."
"But you don't look fine. You seem upset."
Angela wondered if Scott didn't want to divorce her. The thought only lasted a second, as it seemed impossible. Scott probably couldn't wait to divorce her. He disliked her, and their marriage was just a transaction.
"I said I'm fine," Scott denied.
Angela moved closer, trying to grab his hand. "You are upset. You..."
Scott pulled away. "Don't touch me. I don't like being touched."
Angela fell silent. It seemed a bit late for Scott to say that, considering how many times she had touched him before. Why hadn't he mentioned it earlier?
Without another word, Angela followed Scott out of the scene. Scott's hand remained in his pocket, the rings still undelivered.
The livestream had caused quite a stir, with millions watching the unbearable scene. Many had claimed they would eat feces on livestreams, but Zander was the first to actually do it. The Ross family was humiliated. They knew Zander wouldn't do this willingly; he must have been forced. But Zander wasn't answering their calls.
The Ross family contacted the Turner family, and Ainsley soon learned about the incident. She called Edith, who finally picked up after a long time.
"Edith, what's going on? Why would Zander eat something like that?"
The Turner family felt equally humiliated. "Mom, it was Angela! She did this!" Edith didn't hesitate to blame Angela.
"Angela?" Ainsley was skeptical. "How could Angela have the power to do that? The Ross family isn't someone she can mess with."
Edith laughed. "Do you really think Angela is still the same Angela? You're even dumber than me. Do you really think Scott is poor?"
Scott was someone who made Zander tremble in fear. He didn't care about the Turner family at all. But Ainsley knew nothing about this.
Ainsley didn't understand what Edith meant. Could Angela's husband not be poor? That seemed impossible. She decided to investigate Scott's background. She had always assumed he was poor and never bothered to check.
When she did, Ainsley was stunned. It took her a while to process the information. The Coleman family. The Coleman family of Aetheria! Angela's husband wasn't a poor man but a wealthy one.
Feeling like she had been hit by a billion-dollar revelation, Ainsley was initially shocked but then overjoyed. They were rich! The Turner family could now dominate Skigeth and even all of Aetheria!
