Chapter 120 Unorthodox Methods

Grace looked at Madison. "No one had heard what you said, why not speak louder?"

Madison bit her lip, feeling uncomfortable with Grace holding something against her. She repeated her words, "Grace has never stolen anything from me."

"Great, thank you for clarifying for me. Otherwise, I wouldn't know how long I'd be wrongly accused by rumors." Grace smiled satisfactorily.
She continued, "I remember there are many rumors online, accusing that I bully you. Is there such a thing?"

"Grace!" Madison gritted her teeth, calling out Grace's name. "You're going too far!"

"Too far? I don't think so. Who spread these rumors and how did they spread? You probably have a clearer idea than I do. If you're not willing to say, I do have some information here." Grace retorted.

Madison worried Grace would mention her and Daniel's affair as the secret must not be known by others!
Madison quickly said, "Grace has never bullied me, and we have no conflicts!"

"Madison, We both have the surname Lewis. You know me best. Do you think I could steal something?" Grace kept asking Madison.

Madison's heart was about to burst, but she could only go along with Grace's words. "Grace is a good person, she couldn't have stolen anything."

Edith was on the verge of fury. "Madison, if you don't help, it's fine. Now you're even disrupting the plan."
Madison didn't expect to become Grace's pawn, let alone to have to claim that Grace was a good person, saying helplessly, "Sorry, I have to go."

As Madison left, Edith said, "Madison can't prove you didn't steal from Jessica. Why not let us search your car?"

"Ms. Turner, it's funny about your logic. Typically, stolen items are kept in rooms, not in cars. Why did you suggest checking my car directly? Do you know something is there?" Grace defensed for herself. "Ms. Turner and Ms. Cole, you guys conspired to put the necklace in my car a long time ago. This whole 'thief accusing thief' act, don't you find it childish?"

Edith kept on with the accusations, continuing, "Who's playing the 'thief accusing thief' game here? Grace, if you didn't take it, why not let us check together? It's your car, how could the rest of us have access to it?"

Jessica grabbed Edith's hand at this moment. "It's just a two-million-dollar item, not a big deal. Since Ms. Lewis won't admit it, let's go, Edith."
While Jessica's words seemed to be helping Grace, they actually made others more convinced that Grace was the thief.

"Jessica is so generous, unlike Grace who steals and then tries to argue her way out." Edith sneered beside Jessica.

"I'm never afraid of anyone checking. Just check the car, let's go." Grace led them to where she parked, keeping an eye on everyone.
She noticed that when they reached the parking lot, Edith intentionally lagged behind, then quickly moved to the front.

"Open the car door quickly, I'll search!" Edith volunteered.

"Wait." Grace stopped her.
"Let me search Ms. Turner here, see what you're holding," she suggested, looking at Edith's clenched hand.

Grace was certain of her innocence, convinced that Edith was attempting to set her up. Since Edith didn't know where she lived, Grace realized that Edith had resorted to claiming that the necklace was in her car.

Edith lacked access to Grace's car keys, preventing her from opening Grace's car. Fearing Grace might search her first, Edith devised a plan. She decided to discreetly place the item in a secluded spot, retrieve it upon their arrival, and surreptitiously drop it into Grace's car during the inspection.
But just before the final step, Grace caught Edith.

"I didn't take anything!" Edith claimed.
"If you didn't take anything, why not open your hand?" Grace interrogated.

Edith naturally didn't dare to open her hand, as the item was in her palm.
She looked at Jessica. "Jessica, Grace had stolen it and now she's trying to frame me."

In a sudden turn of events, Grace reached out and directly pinched Edith's hand. Edith, feeling a sharp pain, lost her grip, causing the item to fall out. To their surprise, it was a diamond necklace.

"Didn't expect Ms. Turner to have this skill. You found the item without searching my car," Grace remarked.
"Grace, you must have planted it on me!" Edith tried to argue.
"Do you think I have magic powers? How could I have put the necklace in your hand with so many people watching?" Grace laughed. "I haven't been in my car these past few days. If you don't believe me, check the surveillance footage. I've never seen Ms. Cole's item, let alone taken it."

'Foolish, Edith is simply foolish!' Jessica cursed inwardly. Her nails dug into her palm as Edith was so sure she could frame Grace, but now she was utterly embarrassed!

Grace looked at Jessica. Although Grace wasn't dressed in designer labels like the others, her presence was just as strong.

"Ms. Cole, you used my phone to text Xavier for a stargazing date yesterday. He probably turned you down. If you can't win Mr. Montgomery's favor, why vent your frustrations on me? It's hard to imagine you're a member of the Cole family, since you resorted to such shameless methods," Grace said calmly.

Onlookers brought by Jessica seemed to enjoy the drama. "Oh my, Jessica actually asked Xavier out and got rejected!"
"Isn't Jessica the foremost socialite in Skigeth? She usually looks down on others with men chasing after her, but behind the scenes, she's like this."
"At the last banquet of the Montgomery family, Jessica tried to flirt, but Mr. Montgomery ignored her. Who knew she secretly used someone else's phone to text Mr. Montgomery."

"You're making it up!" Jessica's face darkened. "Do you have any evidence? It's probably you who got rejected by Xavier and now you're accusing me."

"Then let me call Mr. Montgomery to confirm if Ms. Cole was there yesterday and what he said to you," Grace answered.

Edith sneered, "Ridiculous. Who do you think you are to Xavier? He would never pick up your call."

Grace remained silent then she called Xavier, who answered quickly, his voice was clear. "Grace?"

Jessica gave Edith a glare; when she doesn't speak, no one treats her like a mute.

Jessica didn't expect Xavier to answer, so she allowed Grace to make the call.
Grace and Xavier seem to have a really close relationship. Whenever Grace asks, he comes out, and whenever she calls, he answers.

Jessica was afraid Xavier might say something that would embarrass her further.
She pulled Edith away. "Grace, you are the winner!"

Upon hearing Jessica's voice, Xavier's tone turned cold. "What help do you want to offer Jessica this time?"
