Chapter 016 The Man Grace Met Privately

Grace had barely uttered a syllable when the door of the room was violently kicked open.

She didn't even have the chance to stand up and was still seated on Xavier's thigh in a rather intimate position.

The man at the door was shocked to see this scene. He then angrily accused her, "Grace, you tramp! Do you think I'm dead? How dare you sneak out and be with another man behind my back?"

Ryan had received a tip-off from Wendy that Grace was supposedly accompanying a man here tonight and that they even had a room booked. He had suffered a misunderstanding the previous night because of her.

Upon learning this, he was determined to catch Grace in the act and not give her a chance to hide.

As expected, Grace with another man!

Startled by Ryan's outburst, Grace sobered up quite a bit. She quickly stood, placing herself in front of Xavier, blocking Ryan from seeing his face.

"Ryan, have you lost your mind?" Ryan strode in, seized Grace's arm, and then forcefully shoved her away.

"Are you still defending your lover?" Ryan was like a fire-breathing tyrant. "I caught you red-handed, and you still want to make excuses. I just saw you sitting on his lap. Were you two also kissing?"

"Let's talk outside. Don't go crazy in here," Grace said, pulling him.

If Ryan saw Xavier's face now, she would have no way to explain it.

"Why do we have to go outside? You've done something shameful, are you ashamed that I'll see it? Have you slept with him?" Ryan's voice grew louder. He had even thought about how to curse and humiliate Grace.

He had even raised his hand, ready to slap her as he cussed, "You damn slu—"

"Ryan." A chilling voice cut through. Ryan stopped his hand mid-air.

He thought, ‘How... how am I hearing Xavier's voice?’

Xavier pulled Grace to the side. As Ryan got a clear view of the person behind Grace, he was taken aback.

Xavier was not disheveled. In fact, he sat there like a dignified lord. Instantly making the place didn't feel like a bar anymore but rather like a grand council hall.

Ryan took a few steps back. He felt like he had seen the demon of hell, flabbergasted. He couldn't believe that the man he thought was her lover... was actually… "X-Xavier?"

Ryan thought, ‘How can this be Xavier? Could he and Grace...?’

"Why are you here?" Xavier flicked his lighter, the orange light casting mystical shadows across his face, adding a blur of intrigue. His eyes, piercing through the flame, seemed even more dangerous.

"I... I don't know what to say." When Xavier's gaze fixed on him, Ryan felt like something was stuck in his throat.

"Speak!" Xavier commanded with an intimidating tone.

"I was informed that Grace was here meeting with a man in secret. Xavier, I had no idea it was you," Ryan explained.

The flame from Xavier's lighter went out. The next second, Xavier snapped the lighter open again. The sound made Ryan's heart skip a beat.

"What do you mean? Do you think I'm having a secret meeting with Grace?" Xavier questioned.

"Of course not, I didn't mean that!" After yesterday's lesson, Ryan knew he couldn't afford to mess with Xavier.

Patrick had warned Ryan multiple times; if he upset Xavier again, he shouldn’t bother returning to Montgomery Manor.

"Xavier, there must be some misunderstanding," Ryan claimed, panic settking in.

Grace stepped beside Ryan. "Ryan, I don't know where you heard these rumors. Someone must be quite clever to know I was here.

"I'm here to discuss a partnership, and Xavier is just here for fun. We ran into each other by chance. We all know who's been sneaking around and cheating. There is no need for me to say!" Grace remarked, snidely.

Ryan continued to lash out, "Grace! Who knows what you do to 'negotiate'? You wish someone would be interested in you, but you're not exactly a catch. Any man who wants you must be either a freak or absolutely desperate for a woman..."

"Is that so?" Grace turned her head to look at Xavier and blinked her beautiful eyes. "Mr. Montgomery, what do you think? The men who want me, are they freaks or just desperately lonely?"

Xavier was at a loss for words.

However, Ryan was oblivious to the silent exchange between Grace and Xavier. He had come to a realization the night before. He didn't like a woman like Grace, and he figured Xavier certainly wouldn't either.

He suspected Grace was trying to seduce Xavier yet Xavier wasn't interested!

"Grace, stop asking Xavier. I'm telling you, one of these days I'll catch you red-handed!" Ryan declared.

"Ryan, you're truly disgusting," said Grace.

When Grace mentioned the word "disgusting," the nauseating feeling she had managed to suppress surged back up. Something was churning in her stomach, she couldn't hold back anymore and abruptly threw up all over Ryan.

Ryan couldn't dodge it in time and got splashed with the mess of alcohol that Grace had consumed. He swore he had never encountered anything so revolting in his life.

Grace, having drunk too much, had lost control the moment she threw up.

Ryan's shirt and slacks were soaked through, clinging to his skin. In that moment, he could have throttled Grace. "Grace!" he roared like a T-Rex, overcome with anger and fury.

After throwing up, Grace felt her stomach settle.

She had felt unwell all along, with an upset stomach, but she couldn't vomit in the restroom. It seemed that Ryan's face had a unique ability to provoke nausea, enough to make everything come gushing out.

"Ryan, if I drink too much again, can I come to you for help? I find that just seeing your face makes me puke, so satisfyingly."

Ryan was unpleasantly affected and thought, ‘What does Grace mean by this? Is she complimenting me or insulting me?’

"Wait and see!" Ryan said venomously, then turned and stormed out without looking back. He felt like he was suffocating and was determined to take his revenge on Grace one day!

Grace felt a rush of relief, but as she turned around, she saw that Xavier was still there. He seemed unhappy and was getting up to leave. Grace wondered if she had made him sick too.

She had indeed been a bit... it was a scene she didn't even want to picture.

"Excuse me, Mr. Montgomery. I just couldn't help it," Grace tried to explain.

The impulse had been as uncontrollable as a cough. Truthfully, Grace didn't want to control it. She even resented that she hadn't thrown up more.

A bottle of water was handed to her, and she paused for a moment. Her clear eyes were watery, and she looked incredulously at Xavier.

"Rinse your mouth," his voice sounded as indifferent as ever. Yet his words felt like a scalding fire touching Grace's heart.

Xavier didn't seem to be disgusted by her.

"Thank you." Grace took the water, holding it as if it wasn't just a bottle of plain water.

"I'll go to the restroom to freshen up." Saying this, she hurried out of the private room and rinsed her mouth in the bathroom. She didn't drink the water Xavier gave her; instead, she kept it in her hand.

It would be such a waste to use this water as a mouthwash. She wanted to save it!

Grace composed herself. When she came out of the restroom, the manager was waiting outside with a glass of lemon water.

"Ms. Lewis, you're not feeling well after the drinks, I suppose. Drink this lemon water," he said.

"Did Xavier tell you to bring this to me?" Grace asked.

The manager just smiled, offering no reply.

Grace figured that the manager's earlier action to kick Tom out must have been under Xavier's orders as well.

"Where is Xavier now?" Grace asked.

"I don't know," the manager replied.

Grace drank the lemon water heartily. By the time she returned to the private room, only the cleaning staff remained; Xavier was gone. She tidied up the mess she had made before leaving the bar.

On the third floor, three tall men watched Grace leave.

Victor was bubbling with excitement. "Isaac, you missed quite a spectacle when you went out to take that call. You have no idea what Xavier..."

His words were cut short as he caught Xavier's warning glance. Victor dared not speak any further. He had juicy details, yet he couldn't dare to share them.

"What happened?" asked Isaac.

Xavier had been domineering and cool. The way he looked out for Grace was as if he were protecting his own wife. After tossing Tom out, he personally escorted Grace into the private room for a talk. Although Victor did not hear the specifics, his imagination filled in the blanks.

Later, it seemed that Ryan had shown up and surely got a scolding from Xavier. Ryan emerged on the verge of tears, looking utterly disheveled.

Finally, after Xavier left, he had someone bring Grace lemon water. Victor couldn't believe there wasn't some sort of intimate relationship between them!

However, under Xavier's intimidating stare, Victor only dared to recount the process in his own mind.

Faced with Isaac's curious look, Victor could only say, "It's nothing."

Victor mused, "Xavier really is something else. His actions are quite extraordinary. He's competing with his nephew over a woman!"
