Chapter 454 Wait for My Return
Grace and Xavier left the prenatal examination room and went to the doctor's office.
The doctor gave a lot of advice, and Xavier listened attentively, more seriously than he handled work, almost wanting to take notes.
"And also, although the baby is already four months old, you still need to be restrained in your sexual activities. Don't be too intense, okay?"
Grace's face turned red, and she remained silent.
She sneaked a glance at Xavier and found his expression calm.
"Got it, doctor. I'll be gentle."
Grace was shocked.
What did he mean by gentle? They didn't even have that kind of relationship!
The doctor continued to give some more advice and then told Grace the date of her next check-up. Xavier asked a lot of questions, even the most ridiculous ones.
Feeling that the doctor was getting a bit impatient, Grace quickly pulled Xavier away.
Downstairs at the hospital, a little boy ran over quickly and hugged Grace.
"Miss!" Grace recognized him; it was Sam, the little boy who had been sick last time.
Sam's mother also came over. "Ms. Lewis."
Grace was surprised. "You know my name?"
"When we went to pay the bill earlier, the nurse said there was a large sum of money in our account. I guessed it might be from you, so I asked around. They said it was from a girl named Grace. I even checked the surveillance footage and found out it was really you, Ms. Lewis. Thank you."
"You're welcome. How is Sam doing now?"
"He's doing well. He had the surgery and is recovering. The doctor said he's recovering nicely. You are our family's benefactor. Without you, how could Sam have had the surgery so quickly? We will definitely repay that money in the future!"
Grace said, "No need. Nothing is more important than a life. When Sam is discharged, he will still need to recuperate. You will need to find a place to live and take Sam to school, all of which cost money. This money is nothing to me; consider it a donation to a charity."
"How can that be? Ms. Lewis, please your contact information. We will definitely repay you in the future." Sam's mother was very grateful.
"Really, there's no need. I didn't do much. Sam is very strong, and I should thank him too."
Sam was really adorable. If it weren't for Sam, she might have made the wrong decision and aborted her baby.
She still kept Sam's little toy.
"Ms. Lewis, you're too kind. Is this your boyfriend?"
"He's not."
Before Grace could finish, Xavier took her hand. "Yes, I am."
Sam's mother smiled. "You two are a perfect match. I wish you happiness and love."
"Thank you," Xavier said calmly.
"Ms. Lewis, are you not feeling well? I've seen you come to the hospital twice."
Xavier said, "She's here for a prenatal check-up."
"Really? That's wonderful. Congratulations! You will have a beautiful baby. We won't disturb you any longer. We'll be going now."
Sam's mother quickly left with him. Grace gave Xavier a light slap. "Stop talking nonsense."
"What nonsense?"
"This is a patient I met before. Their family is in a difficult situation, so I helped them out."
Grace didn't mention that when she met Sam, she didn't want the baby in her belly.
"It looks like he's doing much better than before. I'm happy, too." Grace smiled, genuinely happy to see Sam doing better.
Xavier felt a pang in his heart. He didn't know about this.
If he could have returned to Skigeth earlier, he could have accompanied Grace.
After leaving the hospital, Xavier led Grace to the car. "I'll take you home."
"I have something to do. I'm not going home. When are you leaving Skigeth?"
"Don't worry. I'll leave soon. My flight is in the afternoon." Xavier looked at her reluctantly.
"If you miss me, I'll come back as soon as possible. Don't worry; I handle work quickly."
Grace knew that Xavier worked tirelessly, compressing several days' worth of work into two days.
If Donna were still around, she would be heartbroken.
She wouldn't let her child become a work machine like Xavier.
"Xavier, a person's energy is limited. Once it's exhausted, it's terrifying. If you don't rest well, you'll be prone to accidents."
"I know." Xavier's lips curved. Grace was concerned about him!
"I'm just reminding you. A person needs seven hours of sleep a day. Long-term lack of rest can lead to sudden death. If something happens to you, it has nothing to do with me!"
"Please take it. I promise to sleep every day, okay? But you know I have insomnia. Can I call you at night?"
"You don't have to talk. Could you just put the phone next to you? I want to hear your breathing."
His eyes were deep, filled with intense emotion.
Grace didn't dare to look at him. "I don't want to."
Couples in love don't even do that, and they weren't even a couple. It was awkward.
"When you don't ignore my calls. I want to hear your voice every day."
Grace pushed him. "You should go. Scott will come to pick me up soon."
Xavier said, "I'll wait for him to come. I'll feel better seeing him pick you up."
"I'm an adult. What are you worried about? Can you say you haven't arranged for someone to watch over me?"
Xavier was silent. He had indeed arranged for bodyguards around Grace.
Xavier had many worries. Who knew if someone was secretly eyeing Grace? Who knew where danger might lurk?
After all, they were in the open, and others were in the dark.
When he wasn't around, he had people secretly follow Grace for protection.
It wasn't just because Grace was pregnant; Xavier always felt something might happen.
Grace asked, "What time is your flight?"
It was almost 1 PM.
"Two o'clock," Xavier said.
"It takes at least half an hour to get to the airport without traffic. You should hurry, or you'll miss it."
"It's okay. I can reschedule. I'll have lunch with you. What do you want to eat?"
"No need. You should go. I'll message you when I get home."
"Alright, call me when you get home."
Grace thought for a moment and then nodded. "Okay."
After all, even if she called, Xavier would be on the plane and wouldn't be able to answer.
As Grace was about to leave, Xavier called her from behind. "Grace."
Grace paused, and then he hugged her from behind.
Xavier's voice was deep. "Wait for me to come back."
