Chapter 517 Proposal
"What's wrong?" Xavier wanted to touch Grace but felt his hands were a bit dirty.
Grace shook her head. "Just had a dream."
But the nightmare she just had felt so real. She dreamt that Xavier fell, and it was terrifying.
Aren't dreams supposed to be the opposite of reality? So it must be fake.
Besides, Xavier is fine. How could he fall off the cruise ship?
"I kind of want to go back," Grace said.
For some reason, she felt a bit uneasy, as if the dream had affected her.
"It's still early. Let's play a bit longer. When the sun sets, the scenery will be even more beautiful. You go sit over there, and I'll make you some fresh juice."
Besides, Xavier's main event hasn't even started yet. How could they go back so easily?
"Okay," Grace nodded.
Xavier is so strong. What could happen to him?
It was just a dream. She was overthinking it.
The sun was almost setting when Grace realized she had slept for so long, and Xavier didn't wake her up.
Outside, the afterglow of the sunset reflected on the sea, making the shimmering surface look like it was boiling, dyed in orange-red. The sea and sky seemed to merge, making it hard to tell where the horizon was.
"So beautiful," Grace's eyes reflected that red hue.
The sea breeze blew her hair, and her curved eyes sparkled like stars.
Behind her, Xavier came out with freshly squeezed orange juice, quietly watching Grace.
Indeed, it was beautiful, but nothing in the world could compare to Grace's beauty. In his eyes, there was only her.
Night fell quickly, and the city transformed into a different kind of beauty.
The starry sky was dotted with stars, like the Milky Way pouring down, spilling into the sky.
They were already on their way back. The city in the distance was lit up, looking like golden palaces, truly beautiful.
Grace excitedly said, "It's my first time seeing Skigeth look so beautiful."
Although she lived in this city, she had never really looked at it properly.
Xavier seemed very nervous, as if he had something to say.
Grace noticed and turned her head. "Compared to this, Oakworth is still better, right? I know your office has a great view, overlooking half of Oakworth."
Oakworth's night view might be more beautiful, so Xavier might always be looking at that view, making this one seem less impressive to him.
"It's very beautiful. I want to see this view with you for a lifetime. Will you?"
Grace's heart tightened. "Why are you saying this all of a sudden?"
"Because I want to be with you like this for a lifetime. No matter what the future holds, I want to stand by your side, looking at the same scenery, doing everything together."
"But a lifetime is very long. No one can predict what it will be like. We've only known each other for a short time. Do you really want to spend a lifetime with me?" Grace looked at Xavier uncertainly.
She was afraid that everything in front of her was like a bubble. Because everything was so beautiful now, she was even more fearful of losing it.
Clearly, Xavier was asking if Grace was willing, but now it seemed like Grace was asking him.
"I do." He didn't hesitate at all. A lifetime is indeed long, but if he could spend it with her, it would be the luckiest and happiest thing.
The sound of fireworks exploded, and Grace looked up to see fireworks in the sky over Skigeth.
From this angle, she could see the fireworks in full bloom.
She noticed that the fleeting fireworks seemed to form a flower shape.
The purple fireworks were Irises!
The fireworks were so detailed that they really looked like Irises blooming in the sky, starting as buds and then blossoming.
Grace had seen so many beautiful things today that she was speechless.
So many fireworks, it seemed like they were lighting up the whole city, even illuminating the sea.
"Xavier, did you see..." Grace wanted to ask if Xavier saw the Irises.
But when she turned around, she didn't know where Xavier had gone.
Grace was puzzled for a moment and then continued watching the fireworks. But a moving image in the distance caught her attention.
Was that a drone?
Because it was far away, Grace wasn't sure. She only saw many sparkling things forming a picture in the air.
Grace looked closely at the picture, finding it familiar.
It looked like the painting Xavier had given her as a meeting gift, which she had sent to the museum.
That painting was very complex. She didn't expect it could be recreated by drones. Soon, the image changed, transforming into other scenes that Grace found increasingly familiar.
Weren't these the moments she and Xavier had shared?
And when these scenes were magnified, Grace realized they seemed to be a testament to their journey together.
"Grace," Xavier's voice came from behind.
Grace turned around to find that the cruise ship was now filled with many flowers, and behind them, Xavier was holding a huge bouquet of roses.
"You..." Grace covered her mouth, looking at Xavier in surprise.
She really didn't expect Xavier to have this surprise!
No wonder Xavier seemed different today. So the fireworks and the drones were all prepared by him?
She thought it was just a simple outing, but it turned out to be a carefully planned romantic event.
"I feel like there's something I don't want to wait for. I like you, and I want to marry you. We met first, but your best friend and your brother got married before us."
"Since I was ten, I haven't had a family. I didn't believe in love, maybe because of the Montgomery family. I thought the world was full of malice. I didn't believe there were good people in the world. Except for my mom, I didn't believe anyone would love me. I even wondered if my existence in this world was unnecessary because no one would be happy because of me. Instead, they saw me as an obstacle."
"My personality is quite cold, and I don't know how to say sweet things. I want to be with you forever, to form a small family with you and our baby. Will you?"
Xavier knelt on one knee in front of Grace, holding a bouquet bigger than his upper body.
"Grace, will you marry me and spend the rest of your life with me?"
"Spend the rest of your life together" sounded like an incredibly romantic phrase.
Grace's eyes welled up. Watching others propose on TV seemed cheesy, but when it happened to her, it felt like a dream.
Would she marry him? Did she want to marry him? This wasn't the first time Xavier had asked.
The first two times, she had muddled through, but at this moment, she felt she should give Xavier an answer.
