Chapter 594 They Seem to Be Having an Affair
Grace took Xavier on a tour of her college, sharing stories from her student days. They weren't particularly exciting, just the usual ups and downs of academic life. But Xavier listened intently, never interrupting.
Grace glanced at him, "So, what about you? How was college for you?"
"My college life," Xavier paused, then continued, "was pretty hectic."
"I didn't attend classes much, just had my name on the roster. I had a lot going on every day, and studying was just a small part of it."
Back then, Xavier had already started his company. He learned quickly, almost photographic memory, and finished his credits in a short time, moving on to higher exams. For Xavier, exams and studying were as easy as eating and drinking, no challenge at all.
Grace sighed after hearing this, "If you said that louder, you might get punched."
"Why?"
"Because you're a genius. Skigeth University is a good school, and many people worked hard to get in. If you talk about it so casually, it would make people jealous."
Xavier replied, "I worked hard too, just no one knew."
Back then, Xavier was desperate to make his mark, squeezing every minute into an hour. He had little time for studying, forcing himself to memorize things quickly. Meal times were even scarcer, leading to his stomach issues.
"I know." Grace's bright eyes looked at him.
Xavier's heart skipped a beat as he heard Grace say, "I've always known it wasn't easy for you. No one has a smooth journey. You've faced many challenges and accumulated experiences step by step, leading to today's DG Group and the Xavier we see now."
Grace stood in front of Xavier as she spoke. It was clearly night, but Xavier felt like he was seeing the sun. The sun was right in front of him, shining brightly, illuminating his small world. Sunlight eventually breaks through the clouds, and those rays are unmatched in their brilliance.
Grace leaned in, stood on tiptoe, and kissed Xavier's cheek, whispering in his ear, "My Mr. Montgomery, you've worked hard."
Xavier's Adam's apple bobbed rapidly, and he couldn't help but pull Grace behind a large tree.
"You..."
Before she could finish her sentence, her lips were sealed. Grace's eyes widened. The tree blocked the light, making it quite dark, but there were students passing by. They could easily be seen, setting a bad example, especially since Grace was a senior.
People walked by, chatting, while Grace stood still, too nervous to move.
"Relax," Xavier mumbled.
How could Grace relax? She was almost dying of nervousness. Although dating in college wouldn't get you publicly reprimanded by the administration, Grace still felt it was inappropriate here. She grabbed Xavier's expensive suit, wrinkling it.
Xavier held her but didn't tease her for long. When they emerged from behind the tree, Grace felt like they were sneaking around, like students afraid of being caught by teachers. She had never experienced this in her school days, but now she did.
Grace tugged at Xavier's arm, "Come on, let's go!"
They strolled past the academic buildings and the sports field. Xavier kept leaning in to kiss Grace, like he was leaving a mark. If he had known Grace was his childhood betrothed, he might have started paying attention to her much earlier. They should have been together longer.
Sitting on the benches around the field, Grace looked up at the sky.
Suddenly, she exclaimed, "Look at the stars!"
She hadn't looked at the stars like this in a long time, especially a sky full of them. The stars twinkled, the moon hung high, so beautiful it felt unreal.
Xavier looked up too, but he preferred watching Grace as she gazed at the stars. To him, Grace was more beautiful than anything in the world.
"Tonight's sky is gorgeous," Grace marveled.
Xavier nodded in agreement, "Yeah, it's stunning."
"I heard the Northern Lights are amazing. Let's go see them together someday?" Grace leaned on Xavier's shoulder, dreaming of the future.
"Absolutely, we'll go together," Xavier reached out and held Grace's hand. His hand was large, completely enveloping hers.
Grace said, "What about our baby? Are you leaving the kid behind?"
Maybe it would be the three of them going together.
"If you want to bring the baby, we'll go as a family. If you think it disrupts our time together, we won't bring him."
"Then the baby might wonder if he's really ours."
"My child will learn to be independent first, then help me protect his mom."
Xavier silently added, in case he's not around, the child would protect his mom for him.
Finally, they walked out of the campus hand in hand. It was getting late.
Grace took Xavier to eat. This was Skigeth University's famous food street, with lots of delicious options that students loved. By the time they left the food street, Xavier's hands were full of snacks. Grace liked to eat but would stop after a few bites, leaving the rest to Xavier, who could barely hold everything.
Of course, Xavier made sure Grace didn't eat too much of the unhealthy stuff.
"Remember that bar over there?" Grace pointed to the corner of the street.
Xavier remembered. When he first returned to Skigeth, Grace had called him drunk, mistaking him for a driver. He had picked her up and taken her home.
"Want to grab a drink?"
"You can't drink."
"Bars have more than just alcohol. Otherwise, how could they be so close to a university?"
Grace pulled Xavier inside and ordered two juices. They found a spot to sit, sipping their drinks, feeling like they were drinking something stronger.
Xavier knew Grace preferred Skigeth over Oakworth. This was her childhood home, full of memories.
They wandered until late, Grace showing Xavier all her nostalgic spots. She might have been influenced by Dorian today. Dorian wanted to walk the path her mom had taken alone. Now, Grace wanted to walk her path with Xavier.
