Chapter 244 My Mom is Evelyn, Not Elizabeth

"Are you messing with me on purpose?" Madison glared at Grace, even more annoyed.

Grace smirked. "I didn't even know you were here. How could it be on purpose?"

Madison was fuming. She couldn't stand being outdone by Grace.

Grace's tactic seemed to work; instead of diving into her goals, she started with small talk.

Neil was a no-go, so Madison decided to try someone else.

The two guys next to Xavier looked impressive and handsome.

Madison saw them coming her way, and her heart raced.

She struck a pose to flaunt her curves. She thought, 'They must have noticed me, right? Were they coming to talk to me?'

But Steven and Scott walked right past her, heading towards Grace.

Madison quickly stepped in front of them. Most guys couldn't resist a cute girl, and today she was in a princess dress with adorable makeup.

In a sweet voice, she said, "Hi, I'm Madison Lewis, Daniel's granddaughter. What are your names? Can we chat?"

"Excuse me, please step aside," Steven said politely.

Madison persisted. "Just a quick chat, sir. It won't take long."

Scott found Madison incredibly annoying.

Steven was always polite, but Scott only showed respect to those who deserved it. "Can you not talk so annoyingly? And did you not hear my brother? Please step aside."

"You..." Madison was shocked by his rudeness.

But Scott and Steven ignored her and walked past, heading straight to Grace.

"Ms. Lewis, do you have time for a drink?" Steven asked, holding a glass of wine.

"Of course," Grace replied, remembering their previous meeting.

But she wasn't sure why they were looking for her.

"We met at the fashion show last time. You were on the runway, right, Ms. Lewis?" Steven asked, trying to confirm her identity.

Grace was surprised they recognized her.

She remembered them visiting her backstage but didn't want many people to know about her modeling stint, so she denied it. "Sorry, you must be mistaken. I'm not a model."

"Ms. Lewis, your eyes remind us of a relative, Elizabeth Coleman. Have you heard of her?" Steven asked.

Grace had never heard of anyone named Coleman.

But Elizabeth was a lovely name!

She shook her head. "Sorry, I don't know her. Just call me Grace."

"Ms. Lewis" sounded too formal. Grace didn't know who they were looking for, but it seemed important.

"Is your relative missing? Do you have a photo of her? How old is she? Maybe I can help," Grace offered.

Elizabeth's info was sensitive, and they didn't have her photos.

Steven shook his head. "Do you have a photo of your mom?"

"I do, but her name is Evelyn, not Elizabeth," Grace said, noting they seemed decent and knew Xavier.

She had some old photos of her mom on her phone, mostly of her mom holding her as a child. She had stared at these images so frequently that she could recount every detail with her eyes closed. Then she delivered her phone to them.

Scott and Steven looked at the photo. The woman had ordinary features except for her eyes.

She resembled Elizabeth a bit but was clearly not her.

Steven handed the phone back. "Thanks for your time."

"You're welcome. It seems she's important to you. I hope you find her," Grace said.

Steven nodded, looking troubled.

Where was Elizabeth? They had no leads.

His grandfather's health was failing, and he often called out Elizabeth's name in his sleep, prompting Steven to search for her.

His grandfather and father had searched for years without success. It wasn't a quick fix.

Steven feared his grandfather wouldn't hold on much longer. Elizabeth had always been his grandfather's greatest regret. If he passed away with that regret, it would be theirs too.

Grace and Steven's conversation was overheard by someone nearby.

That person was Jared's subordinate, who relayed the conversation to Jared.

It seemed Steven and Scott were also looking for Elizabeth. From the conversation, Jared could confirm that Grace wasn't Elizabeth's daughter.

When Elizabeth disappeared, she left no clues.

If Elizabeth had left a child, it could be his.

Jared's eyes darkened, and he clenched his fists. He pondered, 'Why did Elizabeth leave me?'

Xavier stood not far away, quietly watching Grace interact with others.

He didn't even realize his gaze was always on Grace.

Xavier had thought Grace's usual look wouldn't attract much attention, but many people were still looking at her.

He couldn't imagine how much more attention Grace would get if she hadn't redone her makeup.

Just thinking about it made Xavier uncomfortable.

Over there, Grace was still talking to others, specifically a big company's boss and his son.

The son kept his eyes on Grace, first looking at her chest, then her hips, and even moving behind her, trying to touch her discreetly while glancing around to see if anyone was watching.

After a few words, Grace sensed something was off and her expression turned cold. "Excuse me, my husband is over there. I need to leave."

But the man hurriedly tried to grab Grace's wrist.
