Chapter 617 Wait for Me to Come Back, Tomorrow We Will Go Handle the Marriage Procedures
Chase was dead, and the Coleman family was drowning in grief.
"Damn Jared!" Scott yelled, slamming his fist into the wall, his knuckles splitting open.
"I'm gonna kill him. Should've done it before, but now he's gonna pay for Grandpa with his life!" Scott's eyes were wild with rage.
Jared deserved to die a thousand times over!
But there was still Chase's funeral to arrange, and so many other things to handle.
In such a sorrowful time, Grace and Xavier's wedding and the marriage paperwork would likely have to be postponed.
Xavier was completely at Grace's disposal, but he hadn't brought up the matter yet, even though the day after tomorrow was approaching.
Scott, despite his threats to go after Jared, couldn't leave now. He had to make sure Chase was properly laid to rest.
There was still the cremation to handle, and it would take a long time for him to emerge from this grief.
Grace, however, might never recover.
Chase had promised to watch her get married. Giving her a card was meaningless; she didn't want the card, she wanted her grandpa, alive and well.
Scott couldn't go after Jared himself, so he ordered others to deal with Jared harshly, leaving him alive just long enough for Scott to return and finish him off.
Jared was being tortured severely, and he knew Chase had passed away.
He hadn't expected the poison to affect Chase so drastically. Based on Elizabeth's condition at the time, it shouldn't have killed him so quickly.
Jared knew he was doomed.
With Chase dead, the Coleman family wouldn't let him off the hook. He was finished.
No, he couldn't just sit and wait for death.
The Coleman family's focus was entirely on Chase right now. This was his last chance. Once Chase's funeral was over, he would have no chance at all.
So Jared escaped that night.
The news reached the Coleman family the next day.
"What? Jared ran away?"
"That damn Jared should've been shot!"
Who would've thought Jared could still struggle, taking advantage of their focus on Chase's funeral to find a way to escape!
If he hid in Oakworth, they might not find him. But if he left Skigeth and hid in another country, finding Jared would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Then they would be in the open, while Jared lurked in the shadows.
Given Jared's sinister nature, he would surely strike at the Coleman family from the dark, and that would be disastrous.
Jared had to be caught, and time was of the essence. They didn't have much time.
But the Coleman family couldn't leave now; they were busy with Chase's funeral arrangements.
Xavier stepped forward and said, "I'll go."
"I'll bring Jared back. Even if I can't, I won't let him live. You take care of Grace for me."
"No!" Grace's heart ached sharply, her eyes filled with fear. She clung tightly to Xavier's hand, not wanting him to go.
Maybe it was Chase's death, but Grace felt uneasy.
Xavier suddenly reached out and hugged Grace tightly, his hand gently cradling her head.
When he let go, he saw Grace's face covered in tears. She had cried all day yesterday, and her eyes were swollen like walnuts.
He wiped her tears away with his thumb. "Why are you crying? I'll definitely bring Jared back and return safely. You wait for me at home."
Grace shook her head. "I don't want you to go..."
"I'll be back soon, don't worry. Jared can't escape." Xavier reassured her. "When I return, we'll go get our marriage license tomorrow!"
With that, Xavier kissed Grace's forehead deeply and turned to leave.
"Xavier!" Grace chased after him, seeing him get into the car.
Hearing Grace's voice, Xavier paused. Grace said, "Even if you can't catch Jared, it's okay. I want you to come back safely!"
She wanted Xavier to be safe and not hurt at all. Nothing else mattered.
Xavier nodded, promising Grace with a single word, "Okay."
His figure disappeared into the car, out of Grace's sight.
The sky remained gloomy, as if it was about to pour. The weather had been like this since yesterday, the clouds pressing lower, but the rain hadn't fallen.
Grace feared this would be a serious battle. Jared was cunning and surely had a foolproof plan.
Grace worried it might be a trap to lure them in.
She called Mason, asking him to ensure Xavier's safety. If Jared showed any suspicious behavior, they should retreat immediately, not worry about Jared.
Grace also asked Steven to send reinforcements, but she still felt uneasy.
Xavier couldn't be harmed, absolutely not.
Xavier's team began the pursuit, but Jared's escape route was hard to pinpoint.
Jared must have prepared everything before returning to Skigeth, leaving himself an escape route.
Now, as he fled, he released smoke screens. Several people resembling Jared appeared at airports and train stations, all bundled up, making it impossible to identify the real Jared.
In the car, Xavier analyzed the information. Clearly, the clues revealed nothing.
These locations were necessary for leaving Skigeth.
But which route would Jared choose? Leaving by plane was too obvious, and train stations were easy to get caught.
Xavier's gaze fell on the docks.
Skigeth was coastal, and leaving by sea was a good option. Jared had a yacht, and the sea offered endless possibilities for evasion.
If he were Jared, he would choose the docks and take the water route.
"To the docks!" Xavier quickly deduced Jared's route and headed there, instructing Mason to bring the police for a legal operation.
The weather was bad, with low clouds over the sea, threatening a storm.
Leaving by sea now wasn't ideal; extreme weather could be dangerous, and even a regular yacht might be swept away.
Xavier reached the docks quickly, as the weather had delayed long-distance passenger ships.
With no ships departing, it was easier to search. Xavier looked around but found no sign of Jared.
