Chapter 416 Daniel Takes a Liking to Grace
In the morning, Xavier breezed through all the paperwork that needed his attention.
He was clued in on Grace's schedule and knew she had a meeting later to talk about a collaboration. Xavier also did a little digging on the partner company and found out the boss seemed pretty decent.
By the afternoon, Xavier was knee-deep in reviewing the whole incident, going through the written records and other materials.
The driver from that day had been grilled multiple times. Xavier's driver had claimed he had to take leave due to an emergency, and the investigation didn't show any signs of bribery.
Xavier watched the on-site video footage over and over again.
So far, no red flags. If anything, the dashcam footage showed Joseph looking scared out of his mind when the gunshots went off.
Then, when Xavier got out of the car, Joseph's expression seemed to change a bit.
The car was too dark, and it was only for a second, so Xavier wasn't sure if he was seeing things or just overthinking it.
Later, when the fight broke out, the footage of Joseph shielding Xavier from the bullets wasn't captured by the car's camera. The visible footage was pretty limited, only showing Joseph's blurry side profile, making it seem like he knew he was going to die.
Xavier replayed the few seconds of footage showing Joseph over and over, scrutinizing his expression closely.
His mind wandered through all sorts of possibilities. What if Joseph never planned on surviving?
Xavier called Mason, "Has Stephanie's share been transferred?"
Mason replied, "Yes, Mr. Montgomery."
Xavier asked, "To whom? What's the current situation with the Park Group? Send me all the info."
Mason quickly sent over the details. Xavier looked at Aiden, who was just an unremarkable shareholder in the company and didn't have a close relationship with the Park family.
The basic info didn't reveal much, so Xavier told Mason to dig deeper, including everyone around Aiden.
Aiden didn't have any significant assets under his name, but Stephanie transferred the Park Group shares to him. Was it really just a coincidence?
It was clear the Park Group was pressuring Stephanie, but this was the inheritance Joseph left for her. Stephanie transferred it to Aiden so easily, which was too quick.
Plus, with his support, Stephanie could have kept her shares, even if he was in Skigeth at the time.
Putting all these clues together, Xavier felt like he was missing something.
After a while, Xavier rubbed his temples. His eyes hurt, probably from staring at the screen for too long.
Looking at the time, it was already evening.
Mason had just sent over Aiden's info, but Xavier didn't have time to look at it. He had to head out.
Xavier drove away from the resort.
Meanwhile, Grace had already gone to meet the business partner.
The meeting was held in the private room of the top-rated restaurant in Skigeth.
Grace went without makeup and brought two bodyguards with her, just in case. They got into the elevator together.
Grace didn't notice that someone nearby was staring at her in awe.
Daniel was dumbfounded, staring at Grace as she entered the elevator. His eyes were filled with amazement, like he had just seen a goddess.
He had never seen such a beautiful person. Just a fleeting glance had imprinted her in his mind, especially her eyes, which seemed familiar.
Despite being in his sixties, his previously lifeless heart seemed to skip a beat at the thrill of love at first sight.
"Find out who that woman is!"
There was such a stunning woman in Skigeth. No matter who she was, he had to have her!
Daniel was getting all worked up, and he noticed that his body, which had been worn out over the years from countless women, was actually showing signs of arousal. It was a miracle!
Daniel barked, "Go find out, right now!"
He kept his eyes glued to the direction Grace had gone. As long as she was in this restaurant, he could find her. He couldn't wait!
Daniel also called Taylor, "Taylor, my dear, you don't need to come tonight."
Taylor sounded anxious, "Daddy, what's wrong? Didn't we agree that I would join you for dinner tonight?"
The Lewis family had completely collapsed. After Madison's scandal was exposed, the stock price plummeted to rock bottom. Grace took the opportunity to acquire the Lewis Group's shares.
Zach had fallen seriously ill since then, and a few days ago, something happened that made him go crazy. He had been in the hospital, and Taylor couldn't be bothered to visit him.
Her daughter Madison was pitiful, ruined by someone like Zach.
Madison didn't dare to leave the house, locking herself up every day. Whenever she saw people, she went crazy, thinking they were mocking her. She had become a complete wreck, and even Taylor found her repulsive.
The family had two people who had gone mad.
Taylor also blamed Daniel, but the Gunter family was still thriving in Oakworth. Taylor had nothing and could only try to get more money from Daniel.
Daniel had wronged Madison, but Taylor had no choice but to please him.
She had finally coaxed Daniel to Skigeth, planning to try again. If she could get five hundred million dollars, she would leave Skigeth and live a carefree life.
They had agreed to meet, but Daniel suddenly changed his mind. Taylor didn't know what had happened.
Daniel replied, "It's nothing. I don't need you."
Taylor thought Daniel was angry, but he sounded excited.
Taylor wasn't stupid. She knew Daniel too well. She realized he might have a new target.
She just didn't know which unlucky person had such bad luck.
Grace went upstairs to the agreed private room. The business partners had already arrived.
They had only heard of each other but had never met. The partners didn't know that Grace was so beautiful.
Hayden Long said, "Ms. Lewis, you're so beautiful. It's a pity you're not a movie star."
"Mr. Long, you're too kind. I'm just an ordinary person with no acting skills, so I can't enter the entertainment industry," Grace quickly engaged in conversation with them.
Hayden Long had a good reputation, which was why Grace chose to collaborate with him.
They had a pleasant conversation and quickly reached a cooperation agreement.
Hayden asked, "Ms. Lewis, aren't you drinking? Or do you not like this wine?"
Grace had a glass of juice in front of her. She said, "I'm not feeling well and just took some medication, so I won't drink."
Actually, it was because of the baby in her belly that she couldn't drink.
Hayden didn't think much of it. "The weather is cold lately. Ms. Lewis, take good care of yourself."
Grace nodded. "Thank you for your concern, Mr. Long."
They continued chatting, and soon, someone whispered something to Hayden. His expression changed, and he stood up. "Excuse me, Ms. Lewis, I need to take a call."
