Chapter 625 She Doesn't Believe, He Promised to Come Back

Mason's voice was thick with sorrow. He spoke plainly, but the weight of the situation was clear.

"What about Xavier? Did he get off the yacht before it blew up?"

Mason shook his head and pulled out his phone, showing the last video call with Xavier. "Grace, you need to see this."

Grace's hands trembled as she took the phone and hit play. The video was long, starting with Xavier's departure in the submarine, his sneaky infiltration onto the yacht, and then Jared's helicopter hovering above. Without hesitation, Xavier fired his gun.

Jared's helicopter wobbled, and then the video cut off, the screen going black.

Mason continued, "Then the explosion happened. Xavier was probably still on the yacht. He hasn't been found yet, and I'm afraid..."

Mason's voice broke, fearing the worst for Xavier.

"The yacht's already sunk, and a lot of others are missing too."

"Grace, I'm so sorry. I couldn't protect Xavier. This is all my fault."

Mason was consumed with guilt, and the raging storm outside made any search efforts impossible.

Grace couldn't believe it. How could Xavier leave her? He had promised to be by her side forever.

He was fine when he left, just a few hours ago. He had promised to come back. Tomorrow was supposed to be their special day, the day they would get married.

No, Grace refused to believe it. Xavier must be hiding somewhere, waiting to be found.

Angela, who had been listening, grew anxious. "Grace," she said.

She had seen the video too. If the yacht exploded with such force, Xavier couldn't have survived.

Even Angela couldn't accept it. How could someone be fine one moment and gone the next?

Grace's legs gave out, but Angela caught her just in time.

Grace stared at the video on the phone, her eyes empty. "No, this can't be."

Steven arrived at the abandoned dock, rushing over.

"Grace!"

"Steven," Grace looked at him.

Steven's heart ached seeing her like this. It was clear she knew everything.

"Steven, why are you here?"

"I was worried about you."

"I... Xavier... Steven, he must still be alive!" Grace was convinced Xavier was alive.

Steven couldn't say a word. Even if Xavier survived the explosion, it had been too long. The chances were slim.

But Steven couldn't bring himself to say it. Losing two important people at once was something Grace would have to process slowly.

Getting through this painful experience would be incredibly tough.

"Grace, if you need to cry, just cry. I'm here."

Steven walked over and patted her shoulder. "I don't want to cry. Why should I cry? I..."

Grace clenched her fists, unable to say anything.

The storm was still raging, making it impossible to go out to sea.

The typhoon had already hit, and the drone footage showed that the sea was rough. If Mason and his team hadn't retreated, they would likely be in grave danger too.

Thankfully, Grace had given timely orders, or else...

The storm showed no signs of stopping. The yacht had sunk, leaving no trace on the surface.

It was as if nothing had ever happened.

"Tell me everything again," Grace said, needing to know all the details while they couldn't do anything else.

Mason recounted the events, and Grace's body trembled.

She couldn't believe Xavier was gone. They were supposed to get married tomorrow.

Xavier had promised to stay safe and come back to her.

Maybe tomorrow, Xavier would show up at City Hall, waiting for her.

The storm finally calmed down in the early hours of the morning. Though it was still dark, the wind had died down.

Grace insisted on going out to sea, and no one could stop her.

At the site of the incident, there was nothing left to see.

Even Jared's helicopter had likely sunk.

Jared must have perished in the disaster too, but the cost of eliminating him was too high.

Due to the heavy rain and typhoon, flights to the area were delayed. Sterling had tried to fly his private jet, but the weather made it impossible.

He had to fly to a nearby city and drive the rest of the way.

By the time Sterling reached Skigeth, it was midnight.

He found Grace searching the sea, her small frame looking fragile in the cold wind.

The vast ocean seemed like a monster that could swallow everything, making everyone feel insignificant.

The rain and the moving water had washed away all traces. There was no sign of the explosion, not even blood. The debris had been swept away.

There was nothing left to see.

As the sun rose, the bad weather from the previous day was gone, replaced by a new day.

The sun rose early, casting an orange glow over the waves, reminding Grace of the sunrise she had seen at the resort.

It was just as beautiful, but back then, Xavier had been by her side.

He must be okay, right? If he were dead, there would be a body.

Since they hadn't found Xavier's body, he must be alive. Maybe he had jumped into the sea at the last moment, or...

Grace couldn't find any other excuses. She knew it was unlikely he had survived, but she couldn't accept that Xavier was gone.

She would find him. She had to.

Many people were searching, pulling up various items, and looking for the sunken yacht. It was a massive operation.

Sterling boarded Grace's yacht, where Steven and Angela were also present.

"Grace?"

"Mr. Wallace, why are you here?"

Grace looked terrible. Her eyes were swollen, her face streaked with tears or seawater, looking like a little stray cat.

"How did you let yourself get like this? Don't you know your condition?" Sterling had expected to find her here.

Grace might seem easygoing, but she was stubborn. Once she decided on something, it was hard to change her mind.

With Xavier's death, Sterling didn't know how Grace would get through it.
