Chapter 357 Those Eyes, They Belong to His Elizabeth

The contract signing went off without a hitch. By the time they were done and heading downstairs, Lily still couldn't wrap her head around what just happened.

Her eyes were wide, staring at Grace like she'd seen a ghost.

Grace waved the stamped contract in front of Lily's face. "Hey, what are you spacing out for?"

Lily grabbed Grace, practically bouncing. "Oh my God, this is unreal! Ms. Lewis, you're actually Iris! Am I dreaming? It's like meeting a legend! You're my hero, seriously!"

Grace chuckled. "It's not that big of a deal; I'm just a regular person."

Lily cut her off, bubbling with excitement. "No way, Iris is anything but regular. If the folks at the office knew you were Iris, they'd lose their minds. Ms. Lewis, we were just saying how bummed we were that you didn't join the fragrance competition. And now you show up and blow our minds. This isn't just participating, this is..."

Lily was at a loss for words. Grace pulled her along. "Alright, we're done here. You've got some free time, so go have fun for the next few days. Pick out some gifts for everyone at the office, and it's on me."

"Thank you, Ms. Lewis, that's amazing!" Lily was over the moon. Working for Grace was the best thing ever.

With the signing done, Grace had nothing else on her plate. She was even thinking about heading back early to surprise Xavier.

They'd been chatting for a while when Grace noticed the car hadn't started. Just as she was about to ask the driver to get moving, Robert walked over.

"Ms. Lewis," Robert greeted.

"Mr. York, something else?" Grace stepped out of the car.

"Have you heard about my sister? She's looking for a specific scent," Robert said.

"Mr. Foster mentioned it," Grace replied.

"Would you be interested in creating it? I can get you whatever you need, or you could talk to my sister directly. You're Iris, and I'm sure she'd love to meet you."

"I can meet the Duchess?" Grace hadn't seen that coming.

"Yeah," Robert nodded.

"That's awesome, thank you, Mr. York." Grace had planned to head back early, but with Robert setting up a meeting with Duchess Jane York for the next day, she decided to stick around.

After getting back, she told Xavier about it.

It felt like they hadn't talked about much, but two hours flew by.

After hanging up with Xavier, Grace noticed a bunch of messages from Kelly.

Kelly: [Grace, what do you mean by this? Didn't you say you didn't know about the crystal?]

Kelly: [If you mess with me, you'll never get the crystal!]

Grace had no clue what Kelly was freaking out about, but seeing the word "crystal," she decided to call her. "Kelly, what's going on?"

Kelly's voice came through, annoyed. "Shouldn't I be asking you that? Grace, last time you said you didn't know the crystal, and then you sent someone to the Montgomery family. So what's the deal with the crystal that you're so desperate for?"

Grace was totally lost. She frowned. "Did someone ask you about the crystal?"

Kelly shot back, "You don't need to send someone to trick me into talking about the crystal. If I hadn't been sharp enough to catch on, I might've been fooled by your people. I only talked about this crystal with you, and let me be clear: the crystal isn't with me. Even if you want it, it's useless."

Grace was genuinely clueless about this whole thing.

Kelly went on, "Stop pretending. Anyway, the crystal isn't with me."

And with that, Kelly hung up.

Grace was left stunned. From Kelly's tone, it didn't seem like she was lying. But who had tried to probe her about the crystal?

If Kelly had only asked her, then no one else should've known.

Grace was sure she hadn't sent anyone to investigate or contact Kelly, so the only person who could've done this was Xavier.

Last time, Xavier had seen the photo of the crystal and asked her to send it to him. Grace hadn't thought much of it at the time.

But why was Xavier digging into the crystal?

Patrick had said she had something Xavier wanted. Could it be related to the crystal?

Grace's heart sank. No way, Xavier couldn't be hiding something from her. She decided to ask him when she got back.

Maybe it was because the food cultural differences, Grace hadn't had much of an appetite these past couple of days.

Looking at the steaks, she even felt a bit nauseous.

But Lily and the others were loving their meals, finding them delicious.

Maybe Grace just wasn't used to it. She nibbled a little. The next day, she met with Robert as planned, and he took her to see Jane, who described her dream and the scent she was looking for.

Grace had some ideas and planned to whip up a sample perfume once she got back home and then mail it over.

As she was leaving, Robert offered to escort her, but Grace politely declined, "Aetheria is so beautiful, I plan to walk around and explore."

Robert said, "Since you're new here, you might need a guide. I can accompany you, Ms. Lewis."

Grace responded, "Thanks for the offer, Mr. York, but it's not necessary. I'm planning to pick out a gift for my boyfriend. Women can take forever shopping, and you're busy, so I won't trouble you."

With that, Grace prepared to leave.

Robert didn't push it and soon left.

The entire street was lined with grand and luxurious homes of Aetheria's elite, a sight that really opened Grace's eyes.

She strolled a long way when a luxury car passed by. Grace stopped to let it go.

Inside the car, an elderly man happened to catch a glimpse of Grace's eyes through the window.

He shouted excitedly, "Stop the car, stop the car!"

The driver quickly stopped, and the old man rushed out, the driver unable to hold him back, "Sir, sir!"

Grace was about to keep walking when a strong force grabbed her from behind, "Elizabeth, Elizabeth! My Elizabeth!"

The elderly man, with tears streaming down his face, stared into her eyes.

Grace was startled and quickly supported him, "Sir, are you alright?"

The elderly man murmured, "Elizabeth, it's my Elizabeth."

The driver tried to reason with him, "Sir, you must be mistaken."

But the man tightly grasped her hand, not letting Grace go, "It's Elizabeth."

The man's emotions were so intense that he couldn't catch his breath and collapsed.
