Chapter 049 The Video Evidence Debunks Kelly
"Asshole!" Patrick scolded, "Ryan, stop spouting nonsense!"
"I'm speaking the truth. If you don't believe me, ask her if it happened!" Ryan foolishly insisted.
Everyone's gaze turned toward Grace, but instead of showing panic, her expression was surprisingly calm.
"What he's saying is true," Grace said, her gaze lowered so no one could see her eyes.
Upon hearing this, Ryan's face twisted even more sinisterly, "There, you all heard it, right? She admitted it herself; I'm not framing her!"
Wendy hadn't anticipated Grace's admission either and quickly jumped in to support Ryan, "I knew you were fickle-hearted. You haven't even married yet, and you're already committing such actions; it's a disgrace!"
"I'm not finished yet. What's the rush? Indeed, someone tried to harm me, but they didn't succeed." Grace, unruffled, pulled out her phone and played a video.
"It was Kelly who told me to do this; she said she'd become Ryan's wife in the future. I saw how obedient Ryan was to her, like her pet.
"I was just irrational at that moment. In the end, nothing happened to Ms. Lewis; Ms. Lewis, so please forgive me."
Tom's voice came through, recounting the events clearly.
"Regarding the last incident, I've already contacted the police. They confirmed it was Kelly pretending to be Ryan's future wife, telling them to harass me. Ryan, don't you think you owe me an explanation about this?"
Grace looked at Ryan, who was just as stunned to learn about Kelly's involvement. He tried to collect his thoughts then blurted out, "You're making this up!
"You're framing Kelly; she's so kindhearted!"
Grace pleaded, "You can investigate and see if I'm lying.
"I don't know if this was all Kelly's idea or if Ryan schemed to shame me. I know you don't like me, but a person's reputation matters. You're so cruel, wanting to ruin my name with such tactics and spreading rumors about me."
"Ryan? What's going on here?" Patrick's gaze was ice cold as he stared at Ryan.
"No, I didn't do this." Ryan was clueless about the entire affair.
In Ryan's heart, Kelly was so kind, her smile so sweet, and her voice so gentle; he couldn't believe she could be capable of such things.
"Enough!" Patrick exclaimed loudly. "I've told you before that Kelly is bad news, I warned you to cut ties with her, did you not hear me? To everyone else, you're just like a dog!
"From today on, you're not to see her again. You're not going anywhere, you're to stay at home! As for Kelly, I'll handle her."
The meal was thoroughly unpleasant. Ryan slammed his hands down on the table and made to leave, but at Patrick’s command, someone stopped him, confiscated his phone, and took him back to his room.
"Grace, if this is true, the Montgomery family will give you an explanation," said Patrick as he too rose from his seat.
With Patrick and Ryan gone, Wendy glared at Grace. "You truly are a jinx, with you here, we can’t even simply enjoy a meal!
"You're not even married into our family yet and you’ve already turned everything upside down. If you did join us, would you just tear us apart?"
Grace also stood up and said, "Mrs. Montgomery, I have other things to attend to, I’ll be leaving first."
"Mom, look how arrogant Grace is. Who does she think she is?" Wendy said, her eyes wide with anger.
It was easy for Patrick to investigate the matter.
However, when he saw the surveillance footage from that night, he was shocked, then stared at the screen intently.
In the footage, the tall man holding Grace was none other than Xavier.
Xavier wasn't the type to meddle, but there he was, stepping in to help Grace. Could it be that he knew the secret Grace carried, that she could...?
He was determined to have Grace marry Ryan, as that would bring benefits to their family.
Kelly, on the other hand, was a different story. He didn't mind Ryan having a mistress, but Kelly was getting too greedy, which he wouldn't tolerate.
With that in mind, Patrick made a phone call and quickly arranged everything.
Kelly was at home waiting for Ryan's return, even dressed in a seductive nightgown that left little to the imagination, her makeup done perfectly, her eyes fluttering like a sly fox.
She knew this was what Ryan loved most.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Kelly, thinking it was Ryan, didn't even bother with shoes as she went to open the door, hoping to surprise him.
She could even visualize it, throwing open the door, Ryan seeing her and being unable to restrain himself from pinning her against the door, lifting up her thigh, and kissing her passionately.
Kelly struck a sultry pose, ready for Ryan to walk in and sweep her into his arms.
However, when Kelly opened the door, she froze. Standing before her were several men in suits looking stern and imposing. “Who are you?” she asked.
“We’re here for Mr. Montgomery,” the man in charge said.
As he reached out to grab Kelly, she realized it was too late to close the door. Her strength was no match for the men, and as she struggled, she cried out, “What do you want? Let go of me! I don’t know anyone named Mr. Montgomery!”
Despite her efforts, the men managed to escort her down to the parking garage. As she was about to be forced into a car, Kelly seized an opportunity to push away the men and run.
“Catch her!” they shouted as they gave chase.
Luckily for Kelly, the complex layout of the parking structure provided ample places to hide, but the sight of the men approaching still filled her with dread. Just then, she spotted a large man with a face marked by scars that hinted at a tough life. She ran to him and embraced him pleadingly, “Please help me, help me.”
The man was intimidatingly tall and muscular. Upon seeing Kelly's face, he seemed transfixed and asked, “How can I help you?”
With the men in black nearly upon them, Kelly stood on tiptoes and kissed the man, emulating a scene from a TV drama. She used his broad frame to shield herself.
Indeed, the men in black scanned the area and one pointed towards Grace’s direction. “Is that her?” he questioned.
“Can’t you see they’re a couple? Keep searching, she’s surely hiding around here!” one of the men said aloud.
Once the men in black were gone, Kelly breathed a sigh of relief. Still embracing the man, she appeared vulnerable in her thin clothing, her tearful eyes brimming with fear, which was enough to stir compassion in any man.
“Thank you,” she said.
The man was inundated by mixed feelings. He was still thinking about her soft lips and the sweet taste that lingered. He had been with countless women, but this sweetness was a first for him.
“They might not be gone for long. My car is just over there. Would you like to sit inside?” he offered.
Kelly nodded and followed him to his car, thinking she was finally safe. “Thank you, you’re really kind,” she said as she saw from inside the car the men in black failing to find her and driving away.
She was about to leave the car when she realized the door would not open.
“Shouldn’t you show your gratitude with more than words?” he suggested.
“What do you mean?” she asked, puzzled.
His hand reached for Kelly's chest as he said, “Dressed like that, you’re trying to lure men, aren’t you? Plus, you kissed me first. I saved you. It's only fair you spend time with me, isn't it?”
