Chapter 64 Do You Like Him? Heard That Xavier Has a Fiancée
With that, Xavier walked towards the door, showing no attachment to this place.
"Xavier." Grace called his name from behind, "I have started my brand and will open for business the day after tomorrow. If you have time, you can come."
"I'm busy." Xavier coldly interrupted Grace.
Grace halted mid-sentence, leaving her thoughts unvoiced. If Xavier had turned to look, he would have seen the light dimming in her eyes.
"I understand," she said softly.
Her social standing hardly warranted the presumption of inviting Xavier.
Perhaps he was even mocking her silently at that very moment. With a self-deprecating chuckle, Grace laughed at her own folly.
But he was indeed busy, and it was normal for him not to have time. Besides, this was an answer she had known long ago.
Grace just wanted to give it a try, and it was expected that he wouldn't come.
Hearing Grace's words, Xavier's mood became a bit worse.
He didn't turn around but opened the door and left quickly.
At the entrance, Angela, who came to find Grace, was dumbfounded.
She was just about to open the door when it opened from the inside.
"You are..." Before she could finish her sentence, Xavier didn't even look at her and walked straight towards the elevator.
Angela walked in and said, "Grace, I think I saw a ghost just now."
Grace didn't expect Angela to come to find her. "Angela, why are you here so early?"
"You hung up the phone suddenly last night, so I was a little worried. I came to check on you and see if you found some wild man!"
Grace remained silent.
If the wild man who just left heard that, he would probably come back to hit her.
"I think I just saw Xavier. Was it him?" Angela couldn't believe it now, thinking she might have been mistaken.
"It was him," Grace admitted.
It was probably too late to deny it now; Angela had seen it, too.
"Grace!" Angela's eyes were filled with excitement. "Tell me honestly, what's the situation between you and Mr. Montgomery? I can't figure it out. It seems like you and Mr. Montgomery have something special going on!"
"Oh, and by the way, was that the person who took you to the hotel last time, Xavier? No wonder he was more upset than Omari when he saw you being bullied. So, what's the deal between you guys?"
"So why are you still acting like this? Did he see your true self? Does he like you? Or are you just playing around? Does Ryan know? Are you trying to break off the engagement so you can be with Xavier?"
Angela bombarded Grace with a series of questions, not giving her a chance to explain.
"You're overthinking things," Grace replied.
Angela did indeed think too much. Things between her and Xavier were not what Angela imagined.
Aside from having a sexual relationship, they had no other connection.
"How can I be overthinking when I saw it with my own eyes?" Angela exclaimed, relieved that she arrived early or else she wouldn't have seen anything.
"I don't know why he came to me last night," Grace said. "It seemed like he had too much to drink. And considering how early it is now if anything had happened between us, you would have come in to find us in bed, not fully dressed."
After listening, Angela found Grace's explanation reasonable.
She had originally thought there was something ambiguous between Grace and Xavier and that Grace could win Xavier over.
"Stop watching boring soap operas." Grace tapped Angela's head.
"I haven't been keeping up with the gossip, so fill me in – what's going on between you and Xavier?" Angela remained curious.
After all, she had heard rumors about Xavier. He was ruthless and cold-blooded, capable of doing whatever it took to rise to power.
Grace pondered for a moment. "There's nothing between us."
Indeed, there was nothing. Grace didn't want to casually talk about her sexual encounter with Xavier, fearing it would bring trouble for him.
"Then be honest with me. Do you like him?" Angela asked.
"Of course not!" Grace knew her place.
Angela continued, "Good. Grace, he is a big shot at Betaqule, and we are just ordinary people. Although Mr. Montgomery is good-looking, you shouldn't get any ideas. If you fall for him, it will only end in tears for you."
"And I've heard that Mr. Montgomery has a fiancée at Betaqule," Angela added.
Grace was taken aback. "He has a fiancée?"
"It seems that the person from the Park family, as I heard from Omari, was a remarkable figure in Betaqule and could be considered a perfect match for Xavier."
Specifically, Angela wasn't sure. Xavier had never appeared in the media before, let alone brought along a female companion, so it was unclear whether these rumors were true or not.
"I understand, don't worry. I can't possibly have feelings for him; falling for a man is just asking for trouble!"
Angela nodded. "Yes, men aren't all that great!"
After all, weren't the men around them like that?
"But if you could truly become Xavier's girlfriend and make him devoted to you, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Being doted on by a big shot would definitely be very happy. Mr. Montgomery would certainly fulfill your every wish!"
Grace chuckled. "Do you think I have magic powers or something?"
"That's hard to say, considering how beautiful our Grace is."
"But actually, I was also thinking of matching you with Omari. It would be nice if you could become my sister-in-law."
"I don't think Omari would be interested in someone like me."
"That's not necessarily true!" Angela felt that Omari cared about Grace and often inquired about her.
"I'm not fortunate enough to have that."
Angela thought for a moment. "Yeah, the people from the Turner family are all cunning. It's better if you don't marry into that."
Grace didn't want to discuss these matters either. She said, "Let's not talk about that. You came so early, have you eaten?"
"Not yet."
"Let's eat together. Afterward, you can accompany me to the store. I still feel a bit uneasy and want to double-check before the opening."
"Got it. I also prepared several bodyguards for you, just in case someone tries to cause trouble."
Grace chuckled softly. "You always think ahead."
"Of course, protecting and escorting you is my duty!"
The day of the Iris brand opening quickly arrived. Even the logo was personally designed by Grace, taking the shape of an iris flower.
Grace had been promoting and advertising for days, and there were some people online who were looking forward to the Iris brand opening.
She was so nervous that she couldn't sleep all night. If it weren't for the mall's regulated opening hours, Grace would have arrived at five or six in the morning.
Grace couldn't sleep at all, so she arrived at the mall entrance at seven in the morning.
Angela came along with Grace and said, "Grace, don't be too nervous. Everything will go smoothly today!"
However, Grace's eyelids kept twitching, and she could only tell herself, "I hope so."
It wasn't until eight o'clock that the mall staff entrance opened, and Grace went in.
As soon as they got to the store, Grace and Angela were stunned. Grace finally understood why she had been so uneasy.
How could this be?
