Chapter 188 Busted Early

"What?" Grace was stunned. She didn't have a crush.
Xavier smirked. "You said last night you liked someone."
Grace's eyes widened as she tried to remember if she had actually said that.
She had no memory of it.
'Did I really say that? I hope I didn't mention a name, especially not Xavier,' she thought.
Grace didn't have a crush. The only one who made her heart race was Xavier, standing right in front of her.
Xavier was amazing, but she had to keep her feelings in check.
"Really?" Grace mumbled, feeling a bit guilty. "Maybe I was just drunk and talking nonsense. I don't have a crush, but yeah, Xavier, you're the best!"
"Flatterer."
"I'm not! I mean it. When I say you're great, I totally mean it!" Grace shot back.
Sure, Xavier could be harsh and moody, but he was the best guy she knew.
His words could sting, but his actions spoke louder. He had helped and protected her so many times, and Grace knew it well.
Sadly, she wasn't much help to him, and Xavier was so powerful that she felt useless.
"Thanks for everything. If you ever need anything from me, just say the word," Grace said.
Xavier's eyes darkened as he repeated, "Anything I need. Got it."
Grace's face turned bright red as she realized what he might mean.
The only thing Xavier might need her for was...in bed.
Grace blushed furiously. She was already pale, and now her face looked like a ripe peach. She was stunning.
Xavier couldn't deny it. Grace was beautiful, no wonder Ryan was so obsessed with her.
And only he knew Grace's secret. Not her father, not Omari. Just him. It made him feel good.
Feeling Xavier's gaze, Grace suddenly had a thought.
Since she changed her clothes and came out, Xavier had seen her face, and he didn't seem surprised at all.
"Xavier, did you know all along?" she asked.
"Know what?"
"That Mia is actually me."
"Really? I just found out," Xavier said, but his expression was clearly fake.
Grace was sure Xavier had known for a while.
She thought she had disguised herself well, but when did Xavier figure it out?
They hadn't met much when she was herself. Could he have recognized her just from her voice?
"Stop lying. You're not surprised, so you knew. I just want to know, when did you find out?" Grace asked.
Xavier looked into her eyes. "Do you really want to know?"
Grace nodded, and Xavier said, "When you were drugged by Tom and stayed at the Bameran villa for the first time."
"What?" Grace was shocked.
That was ages ago, and they weren't even close back then.
She thought her voice had given her away last time, but it was much earlier!
"What happened?" Grace remembered waking up that day without any issues.
Xavier said casually, "You were drugged, and I threw you in the bathtub. You had makeup on, and Victor said it was bad for your skin to sleep with makeup on, so I took it off for you."
Grace was speechless. "But when I woke up the next day, I didn't look any different."
"I had someone send over makeup and touched it up for you," Xavier replied.
Grace fell silent, wondering if she should thank Xavier for fixing her makeup.
Her silence said it all. Overwhelmed, she covered her face, not wanting to deal with the situation.
She realized how foolish she had been in front of Xavier. She even told him her name was Mia, pretended not to know him, and got a new phone number to contact him.
'Maybe I'm just like Ryan, a total fool in Xavier's eyes,' Grace thought.
"What's wrong?" Xavier asked, noticing her reaction.
Was Grace crying?
Grace was indeed on the verge of tears from her own foolishness. She moved her hand away. "Nothing. So last time in Oakworth, you entered my lounge on purpose."
She realized his words were meant to tease her. She had mistakenly believed Xavier treated all women the same way.
"Yes, since you wanted to act, I had to play along." Xavier smirked. "Ms. Lewis, you're quite the actress."
Grace stayed silent.
"So only you and Angela know my secret. I hope you won't tell anyone else," Grace pleaded.
The way she said it, as if he was someone special.
Xavier's tone was relaxed. "Depends on my mood."
"I know you won't say anything." Grace was certain.
"Why? Don't think you've got me all figured out," Xavier said.
Grace's eyes were bright, filled with conviction. "You just won't. If you wanted to, you would have told others already. Even though your last name is Montgomery, you're different from the rest of the Montgomery family. Maybe we're the same kind of people. I may have the last name Lewis, but I'm different from Zach and Madison too."
Grace continued, with a faint glow about her, "We can't choose our birth, but we can choose our future."
She was captivating, and what held Xavier's gaze wasn't just Grace's appearance.
Beauty was just Grace's exterior, but her stubbornness, her unwillingness to give up, her willingness to fight against the world, was far more beautiful than her looks.
But many people only saw Grace's exterior, deceived by the facade she presented, and overlooked Grace herself.
"Okay." Xavier uttered a single syllable.
Maybe Grace was right; they were the same kind of people.
Meanwhile, Kelly had been eagerly refreshing her browser for updates on Grace's scandal. But after tirelessly refreshing the page until it crashed, there was still no news about Grace.
What was going on? Was her internet broken?
Kelly searched again, still nothing.
The media must have gone over there, and it must be chaos by now, but Kelly had a bad feeling.
She had to call Ryan. Ryan's phone was finally answered. "Ryan, are you..."
"Mr. Ryan Montgomery fainted and is being taken to the hospital," someone on the other end said.
Kelly was stunned. "What?"
She rushed to the hospital and saw Ryan in the hospital room, looking ashen.
He was awake, staring at the ceiling, his eyes lifeless.
"Ryan, what's wrong? What happened?" Kelly asked with concern. She was desperate to know what happened. Why was there no news online?
Ryan had made his way to the hotel. Shouldn't he have witnessed Grace being defiled by others? Then why was he the one who fainted, and why didn't he appear distraught now?
