"Xavier, it was you who told me to find her." Ryan turned around to look at him.
"You've already searched, and she's not here where I am."
"But there are still places left to search, like the study, Xavier, and maybe she's in the study."
Xavier's eyes darkened. "There's no one inside."
"It's impossible, Xavier. If there's no one, why were you so nervous?"
The way Xavier spoke at this moment, Ryan became even more convinced that the person must be inside.
"I said there's no one inside."
The more Xavier said that the more Ryan believed. "If there's no one, then let me go in and check."
"Who allowed you to act wild here?"
"Xavier, I liked her first. I know she's your lover now, but I can wait. When you don't want her anymore, can I have her then?"
"I didn't mean for you to steal her. I just liked her too much. I never thought I could like a woman this much. I couldn't sleep for several nights, dreaming of her. Even when I was in bed with Kelly, I was thinking of her face."
"Enough!" Xavier's face turned cold. Even though he didn't like Grace, he felt disgusted hearing Ryan's words.
"If she's not in there, you will kneel outside for a day."
"No problem!" Ryan readily agreed.
He believed that the woman must be inside.
Ryan pushed open the study door and eagerly entered, imagining the face he had been longing for was right in front of him.
However, after looking around, the smile froze on his face because there was no one inside.
Not only were there no people, there might not even be any living creatures.
Xavier walked in from behind. "I told you, no one is here."
"No, it can't be. She must have left before I came. Did you deliberately let her go, Xavier?" Ryan couldn't believe it.
"You can kneel outside now."
Ryan didn't want to go at all when he realized he had to kneel for a day.
"You're tricking me. You must have hidden her in advance, Xavier. I have only liked this woman my whole life. Please give her to me." Ryan started throwing a tantrum.
But Xavier's eyes grew dark, exuding a dangerous aura that oppressed Ryan.
Xavier had plenty of ways to deal with people like Ryan.
He waved his hand, and the butler behind him stepped forward.
"Throw him out and make sure someone watches him kneeling until it gets dark."
"Yes." The butler complied.
"Xavier, I was just joking, Xavier."
Ryan saw Xavier walking away, wanting to catch up, but the butler stopped him.
Even the butler, as part of Xavier's staff, was skilled in martial arts, making Ryan no match for him. He swore and cursed from behind, "Xavier, you despicable person, you... Ah!"
Before he could finish cursing, the butler gripped Ryan's chin, dislocating it.
As Ryan screamed in pain, and before he could react, the dislocated jawbone was quickly put back in place by the butler.
Tears streamed down his face from the pain, but the butler said indifferently, "Apologies, Mr. Ryan Montgomery. My hand slipped earlier."
"If Mr. Ryan Montgomery doesn't want to end up with a broken leg and be prostrated there, it would be better to kneel properly." The butler kindly reminded.
Upon hearing "broken leg," Ryan shuddered all over.
Xavier was a ruthless person, even more brutal than anyone else. He might really break his leg.
On the other hand, Grace had already gotten into the Montgomery family's car. She was led away, thinking that she was being taken to the study, only to realize as she followed along that they were leaving through the back door.
Whenever Grace thought Xavier was a good person, Xavier always acted like a villain, and when she thought Xavier was a villain, he turned out not to be.
The driver who was sent to pick her up happened to be the same one from last time.
To prevent anyone from discovering Grace's situation, she specifically instructed the driver to take her to Skigeth University.
After the driver left, Grace took the car back home.
She freshened up at home, changed clothes, and put on some makeup.
She decided to forget about what happened last night, knowing that she wouldn't often see Xavier with her current appearance.
After tidying up, Grace quickly ate a piece of bread and headed to her studio.
Her studio was still small in scale, with few employees, and couldn't be considered a company yet.
Grace had a lot of things to do today. Her phone was filled with messages, most of which were requests for Iris brand authorization and collaboration in selling Iris perfume.
Many companies also wanted various partnerships with Iris, whether sourcing products on behalf of Iris, planning promotional activities for Iris, or even inquiring if Iris needed a spokesperson.
Grace couldn't keep up with all the messages. Currently, what was important is to contact the factory and quickly replenish the products.
Their orders were increasing, and the speed of delivery had to keep up. Grace also contacted the packaging department, as all the packaging boxes and gifts were personally designed and selected by Grace, showing her sincerity.
Yesterday's products were sold out, and today's demand remained high. The order volume hadn't decreased at all and had already been booked for next month.
Grace also checked on the Lewis Group's stores and found that the hype from yesterday's spokesperson had disappeared, and today's performance was just average.
Even in the most central location of the mall, few customers were buying.
It seemed to be within Grace's expectations. She knew that the Lewis Group's financial situation wasn't as good as it appeared. The last perfume they heavily promoted, using the name of the genius perfumer Madison, had received many orders. However, news of plagiarism came out, and everyone demanded that the contracts be terminated and the products returned, causing Lewis Group to suffer losses and adding to their troubles.
Grace didn't know how long the Lewis Group could hold on for. She couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for it, considering her mom's efforts when it was first established.
Just then, someone knocked on the door of Grace's office.
"Ms. Lewis, there's someone here to see you."
Someone looking for her?
"Who?" Grace asked.
"That man claimed to be your father." Zach entered from behind, shrugging off the people trying to hold him back.
Grace hadn't expected the person looking for her to be Zach. If she remembered correctly, she had cut ties with him, so why was he here now?
Zach looked like he hadn't had a good rest in a while. His complexion was pale and unpleasant, and he had heavy dark circles under his eyes. He also seemed to have lost some weight.
"You all can go back to work," Grace instructed the employees.
The employees left quickly, closing the office door behind them.
Grace didn't ask Zach to sit or offer him water. Instead, she went straight to the point, asking, "What do you want from me?"
"Grace, is this how you talk to your father?"
"If I remember correctly, we severed our relationship the last time we spoke. Sorry, but I don't have a father."
