Chapter 021 Misundestanding
Grace was pacing in the bathroom, worried.
Meanwhile, Xavier had been handling some work in the bedroom, losing track of time as an hour had slipped by unnoticed. A knock interrupted his work, heralding the arrival of the clean set of clothes he had prepared for Grace.
Carrying the clothes, Xavier approached the bathroom door, , where he noticed the light was still on and Grace hadn't come out yet. He rapped gently on the door, calling out, "Grace."
"Mr. Montgomery, I'm here!" came Grace's response from within.
Unsure of how to proceed, Grace hesitated inside. Xavier informed her, "I've left the clothes by the door for you."
"Okay," Grace replied, touched by Xavier's thoughtfulness, but her current dilemma wasn't about clothes.
With her cell phone left outside, Grace pondered her predicament. Contemplating whether to ask Xavier to bring her some makeup, she wondered if it would make him think she was crazy.
After confirming that Grace seemed fine, Xavier went back to his work. However, another half an hour passed, and Grace remained secluded in the bathroom, her prolonged absence becoming noticeable.
That's when Victor called, "Xavier, you up for going out tonight?"
"Not tonight," Xavier simply replied.
"What are you doing?" Victor asked, curiously.
"Working," Xavier answered.
"You're so dull, you know. You guys are all work and no play. Xavier, you're not getting any younger. If you don't enjoy life now, you'll regret it when you're too old to have fun," Victor chided.
Xavier replied, unfazed, "Is there anything else?"
"Nah, nothing else. I won't keep you from your work then," Victor said, ready to hang up.
But something occurred to Xavier, and he abruptly interjected, "Wait."
"If a girl stays in the bathroom for a long time and doesn't come out, what could be the reason?" Xavier asked.
Victor's incredulous reaction echoed through his thoughts, ‘What?! A woman In the bathroom?’ How could Xavier remain composed with a woman present in such an unexpected place?
"Who is she? Do I know her? Is it your nephew's fiancée?" Victor's curiosity piqued as he sought clarification..
From the second Xavier hesitated Victor knew he had guessed right!
Clearly intrigued, Victor mused, "She must have quite the allure to capture your attention, Xavier."
"Maybe she's in the bathroom because of many reasons, could it be that you were too much for her to handle?" Victor teased in a playful tone.
Xavier's retort was swift, "Get lost!"
Victor continued, "There could be another reason, probably that reason why she's too embarrassed to come out."
Perplexed, Xavier questioned, "What reason?"
With a mischievous grin, Victor hinted, "You know, the thing girls deal with once a month!"
Upon realizing the situation, Xavier hung up on Victor.
It became apparent to Xavier that Grace's prolonged stay in the bathroom was very likely because of that.
Without delay, Xavier reached out to Mason, asking him to bring up some feminine hygiene products.
Mason had been with Xavier for many years, but this was the first time he had been tasked with delivering women's clothing and hygiene products.
However, he knew Xavier's temper well. When Xavier gave an order, Mason never asked questions; he just did it.
Meanwhile, as Grace deliberated her options inside the bathroom, contemplating whether to wait it out or hope for Xavier's departure, a gentle knock interrupted her thoughts.
"I've left the items outside the door. I didn't know your preferred brand, so Mason bought a variety of them," Xavier said, his voice cool but pleasant.
Grace was stunned. How did Xavier know what she needed?
As far as cosmetics went, Grace wasn't fussy; she could use anything from luxury to budget brands.
"Thank you!" Grace's relieved voice, filled with relief, resonated from within the bathroom, prompting a chuckle from Xavier. He noted how girls often hesitated to voice their needs, opting to endure in silence instead..
Wrapped in a bath towel and with her head lowered like a thief, Grace prepared to fetch the items from the doorway.
But upon seeing the assortment before her, she was flabbergasted.
It wasn't makeup as she'd thought, but a pile of feminine hygiene products! Daytime, nighttime, they had all kinds, and Grace's face turned involuntarily red.
Had Xavier misunderstood? And he had asked someone else to go buy them; what would they think?
The thought of Xavier's typically stern, expressionless face giving such commands made Grace laugh quietly to herself.
She peeked out to see Xavier at his desk, his focus so intense it was hard to look away.
Xavier exuded a composed and authoritative aura, akin to a patriarch overseeing a powerful dynasty. However, beneath this facade lay a dormant intensity that, once ignited, transformed him into a formidable force, exuding a ferocity that could engulf those in its path.
In a moment of contemplation, Grace pondered the enigmatic depths of Xavier's character. Could this typically aloof man ever be consumed by love, completely and passionately? How would such a transformation manifest itself?
Grace suddenly had a daring idea. She covered her head and tiptoed across the room. "Snap!" Grace hit the light switch, and the room plunged into darkness instantly. The only light came from the computer screen in front of Xavier.
"Grace!" Xavier called out her name.
Grace made her way behind Xavier's back, asked, "Mr. Montgomery, all done with work?"
"What are you up to?" he asked.
Grace reached out and pressed the laptop lid closed. Now, even the sole source of light had vanished.
Grace settled delicately on the edge of the desk, drawing near to Xavier. Her potent blend of milk-infused body wash, intertwined with her distinct scent, enveloped Xavier, almost forcefully permeating his senses with each inhale..
As her presence grew more pronounced, Xavier's breaths quickened, setting off a chain reaction within him, as if his very blood was stirred to a simmering fervor..
"Mr. Montgomery, you've misunderstood. I'm not on my period," Grace whispered enticingly in Xavier's ear.
"And?" he responded.
Grace boldly declared, "If you're not willing, you can push me away." before swiftly turning her head and planting a precise kiss on Xavier..
