Chapter 277 The Arrogant Man
Grace entered the bathroom, quickly freshened up, put on some makeup, and changed her clothes before coming out.
Kieran had already set out breakfast. "Ms. Lewis, breakfast is ready"
Grace said, "Kieran, good morning. Please don't need to call me Ms. Lewis. Just call me Grace."
Kieran smiled warmly. He liked Grace; she seemed approachable and was always very polite, making her very likable.
"Alright, I'll call you Grace from now on," Kieran replied.
The more Kieran observed Grace, the more he was drawn to her. While Grace might not have had striking beauty, her pleasant appearance captivated him.
The point was that Grace and Xavier were a good match.
Xavier needed someone to accompany him, and Kieran thought Grace was a good choice.
"Grace, come over and have breakfast," Kieran called out.
Grace walked over. "It smells so good. The cooking at the Bameran villa is truly delicious."
"Since there is so much food, we can't finish it all. Kieran, join us," Grace said.
Kieran replied, "I've already eaten. You two go ahead."
"Kieran, join us," Xavier also spoke up.
Kieran said, "I wouldn't feel right."
Grace gave her seat to Kieran and went to get another chair for herself. "There's nothing to feel bad about. You and Xavier are like family."
Kieran thought happily,' Grace really knows how to coax people.'
After breakfast, to avoid any disruption, Kieran quietly left while Grace began tidying up the meal boxes, leaving the two some privacy.
Xavier was thinking about taking a walk in the garden downstairs with Grace. He hadn't been out for two days and was getting bored in the ward.
However, Xavier didn't know how to start the conversation or how to invite Grace.
Just as he was hesitating and working up the courage, Grace stood up.
"What's wrong?" Grace asked, "Angela texted me, saying she's also at the hospital and wants to hang out."
Grace put away her phone and looked at Xavier. "There's nothing much going on here, and you seem fine. I'll go find Angela."
Xavier was silent. Seeing Grace's excited expression, he realized that she couldn't wait to leave.
He asked, "What's so fun about this hospital?"
Grace responded, "You don't understand. I'm going to find her now. Bye!"
With that, Grace waved at Xavier and headed towards Angela's room.
She didn't notice Xavier's unnatural expression behind her.
He thought, 'What was so great about Angela? Wouldn't it be better to hang out with me? If I had spoken up first, would Grace have stayed with me instead of going to Angela?'
'Friendships between girls also neeeds to be maintained. Grace would come back to me eventually.'
After pondering, Xavier picked up his laptop and continued working.
As soon as Grace stepped out of the ward, she saw Angela. Angela teased her, "Did you stay with Mr. Montgomery all night without going back?"
Grace replied, "I was planning to go back, but it's a long story."
She couldn't explain it clearly and changed the subject, "Where are we going?" she asked.
Angela said, "I need to go downstairs to pay a bill for Omari. How about you come with me?"
"Sure, let's go." Grace linked arms with Angela.
Angela was very interested in Grace and Xavier's relationship. "You stayed with Mr. Montgomery last night. He didn't bully you, did he?"
Grace said, "How could he bully me? Angela, you're overthinking it."
Angela said, "I'm not overthinking. It seems like Mr. Montgomery really cares about you. If a man gets jealous, you'll be the one to suffer. He might keep you in bed for three days."
"Angela, stop talking nonsense!"Grace said.
"I'm not talking nonsense. That's how it is in novels," Angela retorted.
Grace said, "I've told you to read fewer novels. They're all fabricated,"
Angela said, "I know they're fake, but life is hard enough. Why can't I fantasize a little?"
Angela and Grace chatted as they went downstairs to the billing area.
The hospital was always crowded. Angela went to line up, and Grace waited nearby.
The person behind Angela in line was Scott. He thought Angela looked familiar.
Scott thought,' Wasn't she the woman who had thrown herself at him during the fashion show?'
He usually wasn't good at remembering women's faces, but for some reason, he remembered hers.
What was she doing here? Was she sick?
Did she know he was coming to the hospital?
Scott moved closer to get a better look at her face, but he couldn't find an opportunity.
Angela waited in line for a while. When it was finally her turn, she turned around and accidentally bumped into Scott, who was standing too close.
Angela held her forehead, thinking it was her fault. "Sorry, I didn't mean to."
Scott said, "Of course, it's you again!"
Hearing this voice, Angela looked up. "The arrogant man?"
Scott said with anger, "What arrogant man? Who are you talking about?"
"Are you stalking me?" Angela preemptively accused.
Scott was furious. How could this woman steal his line? Who was stalking whom?
"Are you going to pay or not?" the staff was urging.
Scott gave Angela a look that said, "I'll deal with you later," and went to pay the bill.
Scott was at the hospital because Steven had fallen ill. Since getting off the cruise, Steven had been feeling unwell, possibly due to the weather.
Today, Steven's condition worsened considerably, so Scott brought him directly to the hospital.
Grace saw the commotion and walked over. "Angela, what's wrong? Are you okay?"
Angela pulled Grace aside. "I'm fine, Grace. Remember I told you about that crazy guy who thinks all girls want to throw themselves at him when we came back from the fashion show in Oakworth?"
Grace nodded. "Yes, I remember."
Angela said, "He's like a clingy puppy. He's here."
"Who are you calling a dog? So rude!" Scott had heard Angela's bad-mouthing.
Grace turned around and was slightly surprised to see Scott. So, he was the one Angela was talking about?
