Chapter 151 Try on the Wedding Dress
Once Grace got busy, she couldn't pay attention to anything else.
Although Madison had taken on many projects, she remained composed, persevering in her work with dedication to upholding the quality of each bottle of perfume.
The annual fragrance competition was about to begin, and the studio was abuzz with discussions about it. Lily even suggested, "Grace, your perfumes smell really good. Why don't you sign up and give it a try? If you win an award, it could help promote our brand."
Grace merely smiled and didn't disclose whether she would attend or not.
Back in her office, she browsed the promotion on the official website. Subsequently, she logged into her account and registered under the name Cynthia.
Grace already had an idea of what kind of perfume she wanted to create this year.
"Look, Madison has signed up too, and she even remarked online that she would prove her title as a fragrance genius with her skills," the others in the office were still discussing.
Madison had never signed up before; she knew her perfume formulas were stolen from Grace and that she lacked the talent.
But Madison's reputation online has plummeted ever since the plagiarism scandal. If she could win an award this time, the plagiarism issue would be completely forgotten.
Madison wanted to seize this opportunity to prove her innocence. In the past, it would have been impossible, but now things had changed.
After an interview, Madison went backstage, took a selfie, and sent it to Daniel.
Madison:[Do I look pretty today?]
Shortly after, Daniel's video call arrived. Madison, reluctant to face him directly, opted for a voice-only connection.
"Baby, why didn't you answer my video call?"Daniel asked.
Madison said, "I'm busy right now, so it's not convenient to take a video call."
"You are so beautiful; I wish I could fly over right now. You're seducing me on purpose, right? My heart is melting." Daniel's old voice was filled with lust. Just looking at the photo, he could hardly contain himself.
Madison was indeed very beautiful, while today's makeup was particularly alluring.
She was pleased. "I've already done the interview. You promised to help me win."
"Of course. Don't worry. leave everything to me," Daniel promised.
Daniel would take care of everything for Madison. She didn't need to create the perfume herself; he would hire more professional people to make one for her. When the time came, she would just enter the competition with it.
He planned to reach out to the organizers and leverage financial resources to resolve any issues. Even if she didn't win first place, getting an award would be easy.
With Daniel's power, these were minor issues.
"Thank you," Madison said in a sweet voice.
"Why be so polite with me, baby? I heard you're coming to Oakworth for a business trip in a few days?"
"Yes," Madison pretended to be shy.
"Alright, I'll book a room for you and arrange the best accommodations to ensure you have a comfortable stay and a good time. I miss you so much. We haven't seen each other for a while, so you must spend some quality time with me this trip," Daniel remarked.
Although Madison's face showed disgust, she still agreed, "Okay, but remember to buy me my favorite jewelry."
"Of course, I've already bought it. It will be delivered soon. Wear it when you go to your business meetings."
"Alright," Madison agreed.
"So, do you love me?"Daniel asked.
Madison replied, "Of course. I love you the most."
Despite finding it distasteful, Madison understood that offering Daniel sweet words of appeasement wouldn't come at any personal cost.
The key was that by pleasing him, she could get many benefits. She could get whatever she wanted, so she was more than happy to do it.
Grace's previous words resonated with Madison, making her realize the importance of self-reliance. She understood that if Daniel were to falter, she would be left with nothing but herself.
Daniel was getting old, and if he really couldn't make it one day, what would she do?
So, for now, she had to get as many benefits from him as possible, even if it meant accompanying him to get more money and things.
In comparison, the Lewis Group could no longer satisfy Madison. If she could get the Gunter family's assets and shares, she would have something to rely on in the future.
The jewelry Daniel sent soon arrived at Madison's place, and the next day, Madison wore it to a business meeting.
This collaboration was with the government; they needed some fragrances and aromatherapy to host VIPs. While the business might not yield high profits, numerous companies were eager to vie for the opportunity.
Grace was not surprised to see Madison in such a setting. She had come fully prepared. For every collaboration, no matter the project, she always had all her materials ready.
Grace was rational, considering not only her interests but also offering valuable suggestions to the partners. Despite feeling uncertain about her chances, she took the opportunity seriously and demonstrated utmost sincerity in her efforts.
After the bidding ended, Madison stopped her outside.
"Grace, I didn't expect a small company like yours to want to get involved in this kind of collaboration. Have you considered whether you're qualified?"
Madison was determined to win because she had backing. She purposefully adjusted her clothing, subtly revealing the necklace around her neck to Grace.
Grace looked at her coldly. "The results have yet to be announced, so it's premature to make any assumptions. While my company may be small, if I secure the bid, it would be quite a spectacle if your larger company couldn't outperform a smaller contender like mine."
Madison retorted, "No way. Even if our Lewis Group doesn't get it, it won't be your small company. And you, accusing me of plagiarism before, I will prove myself this time at the World Fragrance Competition. But Grace, if you believe in your abilities so strongly, why not participate in the competition yourself?"
Madison wanted to provoke Grace into entering the competition. Grace certainly couldn't win, and then she could have a good laugh at her.
Grace said, "Whether I enter the competition or not has nothing to do with you."
'Besides, who said she didn't enter? I just didn't use my name.' Grace remained the words inside.
Grace chose to remain reserved in her interactions with Madison, focusing on her own priorities and tasks.
Madison's attempts to impress Grace fell short, leaving her feeling a surge of frustration. Determined to prove herself, she set her sights on winning an award to gain Grace's recognition finally.
Grace was about to leave when Madison stopped her. "Grace, I almost forgot to tell you some good news. I heard that Zach has already discussed with the Montgomery family and set your wedding date." Madison smiled.
Since Zach pushed her into the abyss, she never called him Dad again.
Madison was aware of Grace's reluctance to marry Ryan, finding some twisted satisfaction in the upcoming drama. She anticipated watching Grace's struggles with a sense of dark amusement. Anyway, if she couldn't have a good time, neither could Grace.
Grace's expression faltered for a moment, then she shook off Madison's hand and drove away.
On the road, Grace received a call from Zach, telling her to try on wedding dresses with Ryan tomorrow.
