Chapter 265 Come Over and Stay with Me for a While
In the ward, the doctor came for the morning rounds. Angela and Grace were outside, and Omari knew Grace was there too.
"Doctor, my injury..." Omari hesitated to ask.
The doctor said, "We need to observe for another two days to see if there's a concussion. Other injuries will heal in a few days. You're recovering quickly; it's not serious."
Omari asked, "Can you bandage me up more tightly and put a cast on? Just tell my family it's a serious fracture or something. Just make it sound worse."
The doctor regarded him with a perplexed expression, evidently taken aback by such an unusual request.
"Your leg is slightly fractured, but it's minor. You don't need a cast, not even a splint." The doctor said.
"I..." Omari was hesitated.
"Don't interfere with our work. Doctors always tell the truth." After finishing, the doctor and other medical staff went to the next room for rounds.
Omari had no choice but to take out his phone and call his secretary, asking him to bring more bandages when he came.
Grace accompanied Angela to buy breakfast and then cooperated with the police investigation.
According to the police report, Omari was deemed distracted while driving, resulting in the accident. Although the report did not explicitly mention the cause, Grace had a lingering suspicion that it might be somehow connected to her.
"It's okay, Grace. This isn't your fault. Omari was careless. Don't take it to heart or pressure yourself." Angela patted Grace's shoulder.
Grace nodded. "I got it."
"Eat your breakfast quickly and go rest. You've been with me since last night without any sleep. Everything's fine here; go get some rest." Angela said.
"I'd rather stay with you. I don't feel comfortable leaving you alone," Grace couldn't leave Angela.
Angela said, "There's nothing to worry about. I'm not the one who had the accident, and Omari's assistant will be here soon to take care of him. I'll be going back to rest soon too."
Initially, Angela wanted to inform her parents about the situation, recognizing its significance. However, Omari advised against involving them.
Omari knew that if their parents found out, his mother would definitely cry. It was better not to worry them since his injuries weren't serious.
"And besides, I'm bringing him breakfast now. Would you like to come in with me?" Angela inquired.
Naturally, she didn't want to. At least for now, Grace didn't know how to face Omari.
"Then I'll head back first. You must go rest too, because you've been up all night." Grace said.
"Okay." Angela nooded.
Grace then left the inpatient department. Unexpectedly, she ran into someone outside the elevator.
"Mason?" Grace greeted him.
"What a coincidence, Ms. Lewis," Mason greeted accordingly.
It wasn't a coincidence at all. He had been waiting at the elevator for a long time for Grace to come out.
Grace never expected to run into Mason here. "Are you here to visit a patient?"
Mason's expression was as lukewarm as ever, no matter what happened.
"Mr. Montgomery is hospitalized. I brought him here," Mason said.
Grace was stunned. "Xavier is hospitalized? Is it serious? What's wrong? Which ward is he in?"
"His stomach is bothering him. He's undergoing tests, possibly a stomach bleed," Mason said.
"When did he come to the hospital? Was he feeling unwell last night?" Grace asked.
Mason shook his head. "I'm not sure, either. Mr. Montgomery usually doesn't like coming to the hospital. He usually toughs it out when he's sick."
"This time..." Mason adjusted his glasses. "This time it might be serious. Otherwise, Mr. Montgomery wouldn't be hospitalized. Ms. Lewis, why are you at the hospital?"
"Have his tests been completed? Is it serious?" Grace continued, her tone tinged with worry.
Xavier would rather endure his illness than go to the hospital. Now that he's hospitalized, it must be very serious.
Grace thought about how Xavier drank so much yesterday, with empty bottles all over the table. His stomach wasn't good to begin with; it's no wonder he's hospitalized.
"The test results aren't out yet. His ward is upstairs. Ms. Lewis, would you like to come with me to see him?" Mason asked.
"I'll go up with you." Grace hadn't slept all night and was very tired, but now she was wide awake.
In the elevator, as Grace watched Mason press the floor button, her heart skipped a beat. No way. Xavier and Omari were on the same floor.
Following Mason out of the elevator, Grace realized it was even more coincidental, because Xavier's room was right next to Omari's!
In the ward, Xavier was sitting on the bed, with an IV in his hand, still holding a laptop and working.
Hearing the noise, Xavier looked up. Seeing Grace, he lowered his gaze indifferently, his hands still typing on the keyboard.
"What are you doing here?" he asked coldly, as if Xavier wasn't welcoming Grace at all.
Mason was helpless. Xavier had been eagerly waiting at the hospital. Wasn't he just waiting for Grace to come?
Grace had seen Xavier in a suit before, and she had also seen him in casual wear at home. However, this was the first time she saw him in a hospital gown.
He was very tall but rather slender. Despite his regular workouts and excellent physique, he remained thin. Consequently, the hospital gown, designed to fit an average person, appeared notably loose on him.
Xavier's face was very pale, and he looked dispirited.
He's still trying to work in this condition?
"I ran into Ms. Lewis downstairs. Ms. Lewis said she wanted to see you," Mason said, finding it hard to play along with Xavier.
However, Xavier wasn't really acting. His stomach was indeed uncomfortable, and he was taking this opportunity to get a thorough check-up and treatment.
"What's there to see? Looking at me won't do any good and my illness won't get better immediately. You should go take care of someone else." Xavier sneered.
Mason thought, 'Now that Grace is here, my task was complete.' Since neither Xavier nor Grace noticed him, Mason quietly left the ward.
Grace walked in. "Besides your stomach, is there anything else wrong? Do you need a full-body check-up?"
"In your eyes, am I just a person full of problems?" Xavier asked with infuritation.
"Can you stop being so stubborn? You know your stomach is bad, yet you drank so much. Are you crazy?" Grace said.
"I..." Xavier had no retort.
If anyone else were present, they would definitely give Grace a thumbs up. After all, not many people in the world could scold Xavier.
Rather than showing any signs of anger, Xavier's lips curved slightly upwards as he spoke. "I heard you took me home last night."
"Mr. Hastings asked me to," Grace replied.
"And then you left me to find someone else?" Xavier asked.
Grace said, "I didn't find anyone else. Omari had a car accident and was hospitalized. Angela couldn't handle it alone, so she asked me to help."
She hadn't even seen Omari. She hadn't even gone into his room.
Xavier looked at Grace's dark circles. She stayed up all night with Angela?
Was Grace planning to go back to work now? What if she fainted on the way? Did she think she was a machine?
"Come here! Stay with me for a while." Xavier closed his laptop and put it aside.
Grace was puzzled.
Though the hospital bed was indeed big enough, how could they stay together?
