Chapter 519 Too Late for Regrets
"Edith? Your mom is really willing to marry her off to the Ross family?" Grace was still surprised.
After all, Ainsley liked Edith very much, and Grace saw it firsthand. Edith had always been good at pleasing the Turner family, and Ainsley even thought Edith was her real daughter.
Obviously, the Ross family wasn't someone to be trusted. If Edith married into that family, she probably wouldn't have a good life.
"You still don't understand my mom. She only cares about herself and no one else. Edith used to please her, so she liked her. But when Edith set her sights on Omari, that crossed her line."
"And things have come to this point. Marrying Edith off is the best option. Even if it weren't Omari, Edith would likely end up marrying Zander. Omari's situation just sped up my mother's dislike for her."
Angela thought that whatever happened to the Turner family next was beyond her concern.
At that time, the Turner family was in a hurry to marry her off, so the wedding date was set very soon, just next week.
Now it was Edith's turn, and the wedding date was still next week.
The Turner family had already started preparing, and invitations had been sent out with Edith's name printed on them.
Angela was now out of the picture, but she wondered what Omari thought about all this.
Ainsley was still in the hospital after being angered by Edith last time.
Angela called Omari to ask if he wanted to have dinner together that evening. She also wanted to check on Ainsley's condition.
Although Angela didn't want to admit it, they were mother and daughter after all. Seeing Ainsley like this made her feel a bit sorry for her. Now that Omari was busy and Edith wasn't by her side, Ainsley was all alone in the hospital.
When Ainsley was sick when Angela was a child, Angela herself wasn't feeling well but still stayed with her. But Edith had put something in Ainsley's medicine, claiming Angela did it and that Angela wanted to poison Ainsley. Ainsley then drove her away, calling her vicious and saying she wouldn't need her even in death. After that, Angela rarely visited when Ainsley was sick.
Omari said, "Edith also asked me to have dinner with her tonight. She seemed to be in a bad mood. Sorry, Angela, I can't join you."
Edith actually asked Omari to dinner. Ainsley now knew Edith liked Omari, but Angela wasn't sure if Omari knew.
Angela asked, "Which restaurant are you going to?"
Omari mentioned a hotel's name.
"Edith asked you to dinner at a hotel?" This sounded like Edith had ulterior motives.
Could Omari be naive and get tricked by Edith?
After all, having dinner at a hotel, who knows what Edith might be planning.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing, Omari. Just be careful. Don't trust Edith too much; she might have impure motives."
Angela didn't want to badmouth Edith in front of Omari. If Omari didn't believe her, he might think she was saying it out of spite.
"Okay, you should go see Mom. She must miss you."
Angela said, "Got it, I'll go see her."
In the evening, Angela brought some fruit to the hospital.
Seeing Angela, Ainsley immediately picked up something from the table and threw it at her with great force, as if she really wanted to kill Angela.
"Get out! Get out!"
Angela dodged and then came in from outside.
"If I leave, won't you be even more pitiful?"
Ainsley was furious, and Angela said, "Alright, stop pretending. The saying 'the pitiful must have something detestable' is always true. Seeing you like this now, I think it's karma. You really were wrong, thinking Edith was some good person?"
Ainsley was still glaring at Angela, but Angela didn't care anymore.
"I just don't get it. What do you like about Edith, that woman who loves to sow discord and badmouth others behind their backs? Didn't you say you had sharp eyes? Can't you see her intentions?"
"You think she cares about you and likes you as her mother, so she's willing to be good to you? She doesn't see you as her mother; she sees you as her future husband's mother."
"Get out! I don't want to see you!" Ainsley was angry.
Angela's words hit Ainsley's sore spots.
Angela said, "Look at you now, still so fierce. Why did things get this bad between us? Why do you hate me so much? Haven't you ever thought about it?"
"It's your fault. You don't listen!"
"I don't listen? Why do you think I don't listen? Isn't it because Edith said something to you? She packaged herself so well, pretending to elevate herself by belittling me, making you think I'm the one who's immature and annoying, right?"
Ainsley's expression froze. Thinking about it now, it did seem like that.
Edith often said Angela was immature and pointed out her flaws.
And she never realized it.
She even thought Edith was great, a very considerate child.
"Stop it, stop it!" Ainsley was frantic. She didn't want to hear this, let alone know she was wrong.
"You're always like this, unwilling to admit your mistakes. Others can only praise you, never criticize you. I can't be like Edith, can't see you as a good mother. To me, you're worse than a stranger."
Angela paused, "But haven't you always thought Edith was good? Why not come with me to see your good daughter's true face?"
"Where? I'm not going!"
Angela nodded, "Fine, but tonight, Edith asked Omari to go to a hotel. Omari told me he's going. If Edith does something to Omari, I won't care."
Hearing this, Ainsley's face changed, "Where?"
This Edith, how dare she!
Edith had indeed made thorough preparations today. Angela dared to secretly get married before marrying into the Ross family.
Now the Turner family was forcing her to marry, so why couldn't she have a relationship with Omari before getting married?
If she just married into the Ross family like this, she wouldn't be content.
Angela's method of stealing identity information to get married secretly was no longer feasible. Ainsley had hidden the identity information, so she couldn't use that method again.
And randomly marrying someone else was also not an option for Edith.
Omari was someone she had liked for many years. If she could have Omari before getting married, she would be satisfied.
So tonight, she specifically booked a room at a hotel. She hadn't gone back for a few days, not wanting to return to the Turner Mansion. She pretended to be very sad and in need of Omari's comfort to trick him into coming.
