Chapter 267 Jealousy

After obtaining the test results, Grace proceeded towards the inpatient ward.

Just as Grace walked over, Angela happened to come out of the ward.

However, before she could close the ward door, Angela called out to Grace, "Grace, didn't I tell you to go home and rest? Why are you back so soon?"

"Are you worried about me or about Omari?" Grace asked.

Hearing Grace's name from inside the ward, Omari quickly had his assistant wrap bandages around his legs, creating the appearance of a severe injury.

He had heard it all from Angela; Grace was there the entire day yesterday and only left this morning.

"I... actually, Xavier is also hospitalized, right next door," Grace said truthfully.

As the door remained slightly ajar, Omari within the ward also overheard it. Xavier was hospitalized too? Was he really sick or faking it?

"So you came to see him?" Angela asked.

"I didn't leave. When I went downstairs, I ran into Mason and found out Xavier was sick, so I went to see him."

Angela said, "You haven't slept all night and still went to see him. You should get some rest."

"I slept for a while. But you haven't rested at all, right?" Grace asked.

"I'm not tired," Angela replied.

"Then you should rest early. I'll deliver the report first," Grace said, waving the examination report in her hand.

However, at this moment, a voice came from inside. "Grace."

Omari was sitting in a wheelchair, being pushed out by his secretary.

"Omari." Grace saw him and also noticed his leg.

Was it bandaged so seriously? Didn't Angela say it wasn't a big deal? How come...

Omari shook his head. "I'm fine. The doctor said I might need to use a wheelchair for half a month, depending on my recovery. If it doesn't go well, my leg might have lasting issues."

Angela was puzzled.

When did the doctor say that? How come she didn't know?

Omari maintained a soft smile on his face as he reassured Grace, "Don't worry about it. My car accident has nothing to do with you. I wasn't thinking about you while driving."

Despite Omari's reassurance, Grace couldn't shake off the feeling of carrying a burden.

He knew Grace well and knew what kind of person she was, so he resorted to this tactic.

Grace thought, 'If Omari ended up with a lasting injury because of me, wouldn't he hate me for life?'

Omari hadn't planned to use this trick, but who knew Xavier would be even more shameless and also come to the hospital.

"Omari, what are you talking about!" Angela looked at Omari.

Omari replied, "I didn't say anything. I just don't want Grace to feel pressured. Grace, don't take what I said yesterday to heart. I'm fine. After all these years, I have long since grown accustomed to quietly adoring you."

Grace was at a loss for words. Angela thought Omari might be crazy today.

At this moment, another voice came, "Mr. Turner, you are really infatuated."

Xavier had come out of the ward at some point and walked directly to Grace's side.

"Whatever you said yesterday, Grace didn't take it to heart. Many people like her; you're not the only one. Mr. Turner, you don't need to play the victim here. Don't think you're so important to her. It only makes your affection seem insignificant," Xavier said.

"And your car accident has nothing to do with her, so stop bringing it up."

Even in a hospital gown, Xavier exuded a powerful presence.

As soon as he spoke, others felt a strong pressure and didn't dare to retort.

However, Omari was not convinced. Why did Xavier get to speak for Grace? He and Grace were already over.

"You criticizeme, but what about you? Aren't you doing the same, playing the victim?" Omari asked.

"Xavire is not playing the victim; he's really sick," Grace said.

"You should go back and rest. Why did you come out?" Grace pushed Xavier back inside.

However, Xavier remained still. "I just came out to get a glass of water. Unlike Mr. Turner, who has his sister and others to take care of him,  while I have to boil water myself if I want a hot drink."

Angela was amazed. Was this Xavier being jealous?

Why did it feel different from what she imagined? Shouldn't they be starting a business war? Why were they bickering here?

Who could have imagined that Xavier, who standed at the pinnacle of the business world with his shrewd tactics, would possess such a side?

However, it seemed Xavier was more formidable, keeping Grace firmly in check.

"You go back and lie down. I'll be right over," Grace finally pushed Xavier back into the ward.

Grace looked at Omari and then said, "I'm sorry."

Then she turned to Angela. "Angela, I'm going in."

" You go ahead. Mr. Montgomery needs you more," Angela said.

"Thank you, Angela. You're the best," Grace said.

Grace returned to Xavier's ward, closed the door, put the report aside, and poured Xavier a glass of warm water.

"You also need to take your medicine," Grace placed the medicine next to Xavier.

"The doctor said you can't drink alcohol or smoke anymore. You need to have regular meals. I'll make a meal plan for you, and you can have the people at the Bameran villa follow it and deliver it to your office every day."Grace said.

Xavier rarely smoked and didn't drink much either. The only issue was his irregular meals. Sometimes he would only eat once a day, enduring stomach pain when he was busy.

Grace would talk to Kieran and the others about it. If Xavier's stomach condition worsened, it could lead to other complications.

"Are you this good to everyone?" Xavier asked.

"What?" Grace was confused.

"Do you take care of anyone who gets hospitalized?" Xavier asked.

"Do you think I have that much free time to take care of others? If that's the case, why didn't I take care of Ryan when he was hospitalized? Why didn't I take care of Omari next door? Why did I come to you?" Grace said.

Upon sensing Grace's anger, Xavier softened immediately, "That's not what I meant."

He was just angry at Omari. He had already had someone check Omari's report; Omari was fine.

Omari was just pretending to be pitiful in front of Grace. He was afraid Grace would be deceived.

And what Omari said just now was clearly to put pressure on Grace.

"I just don't want you to be deceived by Omari," Xavier said.

"Do I look like an idiot, so easily deceived?" Grace pointed at herself.

Grace said, "Why are you arguing with an outsider like him?"

Xavier was stunned momentarily. Grace called Omari an outsider, so did that mean he wasn't an outsider in her heart?

Seeing Xavier's smiling face, Grace was puzzled. She was taken aback by his sudden shift from anger to happiness.

Xavier was so capricious. Was his issue truly with his stomach and not his mind?

Although she knew Xavier was easy to appease, she hadn't even tried to appease him yet!
