Chapter 307 It's to Make You Sleep
Most folks were all eyes on Ryan's wedding, but Grace knew better than to get too cozy with Xavier in public. She didn't want to stir up any drama, especially with someone like Xavier.
"Let's head over there," Grace nudged Xavier.
Xavier finally let her go, still catching his breath.
Grace dragged Xavier to the backstage area. Everyone was outside, so it was pretty empty back here.
Xavier, like he couldn't help himself, went straight for Grace's lips, not wasting a second.
With the steamy vibe in the air, they heard someone passing by outside. A woman's voice drifted through, "I'm so jealous of Ms. Simmons. She hit the jackpot with her husband—handsome, rich, just a bit immature. If my hubby gave me half a mil a month, I'd raise his kids, even the illegitimate ones! Wonder if Grace will regret it. Marrying into the top family in Skigeth is a big deal."
"Who knows? Let's get back to work!"
The voices faded, but Grace was on edge. If someone opened the door, they'd catch her making out with Ryan's uncle.
Grace wrapped her arms around Xavier's neck.
"Grace, do you regret not marrying into Skigeth's top family?" Xavier's eyes were intense.
Grace, matching his tone, said, "There's still the top family in Oakworth, right, Uncle Xavier?"
Xavier grinned. Seeing Grace like this made everything worth it.
His main gig was in Oakworth, and being in Skigeth was messing with his work. He needed to get Grace to Oakworth soon.
"So, where's Angela?" Grace suddenly remembered.
Xavier shrugged, "No idea. She stepped aside when she saw me."
"When are you heading back to Oakworth?" Grace knew he had work to finish and wouldn't stick around Skigeth for long.
"Tomorrow," Xavier replied.
"We've got the whole afternoon; you should rest up," Grace said, noticing his dark circles. He probably hadn't slept well in Oakworth.
"Your place or back to The Bameran Villa?" Xavier asked.
Grace sensed something off in his tone.
"Back to The Bameran Villa. It's bigger; you'll rest better," she said.
Xavier's driver was waiting outside, and they quietly left the estate.
Once they got to The Bameran Villa, Xavier let loose.
As soon as they were inside, Xavier hung up his suit, unbuttoned a couple of buttons, and bent down to kiss Grace again, like he couldn't get enough.
Grace was dizzy from his charm; Xavier was seriously sexy like this.
When she snapped out of it, she realized Xavier had tied his tie around her wrists.
"Untie me," Grace said, trying to free her hands.
But Xavier ignored her, picked her up, and tossed her onto the big bed, his hot body pressing down.
"Xavier, I asked you to come back to sleep, not for this!" Grace protested.
Xavier's kisses were all over her, and when he noticed the bracelet on her wrist, his eyes got even darker.
Meanwhile, back at the wedding, the ceremony had wrapped up for now. Kelly's family was wandering around, amazed by everything and asking about the prices.
When they found out the wedding cost over hundreds of millions, they were floored.
Standing nearby, Amy felt embarrassed and thought, 'They look like they've never seen money before. How could they be so poor?'
"Honey, get rid of them. I don't want to see them again," Amy said to Patrick, who seemed lost in thought.
"Honey!" Amy called again.
"Huh?" Patrick finally snapped out of it.
"What are you thinking about? I've been calling you forever. Those people are poorer than our servants. Get rid of them," Amy insisted.
Patrick wasn't thinking about Kelly's family; he was worried about Xavier and Grace.
Grace had left with Xavier, and it made him uneasy. Now that Grace was out of his control, getting what he wanted was even harder.
"Honey, are you listening to me?" Amy saw Patrick zoning out again.
"Alright, are those people even worth worrying about? Just give them some money and they'll leave. I have something to do. You handle the guests," Patrick said, walking away.
In a quiet spot, Patrick made a call. "Are those documents ready?"
He needed to get these to Xavier fast, to show him that his mom's death was linked to Grace's mom, hoping to drive a wedge between Xavier and Grace. But faking evidence from twenty years ago without Xavier catching on was tricky.
Amy, meanwhile, was fuming as she looked at Julia and Samuel but couldn't say anything outright, so she went to Kelly.
"Kelly, I barely let you into our family. What's with your parents? Get rid of them now!" Amy snapped.
Kelly didn't like her parents either and knew Amy looked down on her. "Mom, like it or not, I'm Ryan's wife now. Everyone knows. My parents have the right to see me. If you're not happy, deal with it."
"You!" Amy's face turned red. How dare Kelly talk to her like that.
Kelly then found her parents. "We agreed to cut ties. Why are you here now?"
Julia said, "What cut ties, Kelly? We're your parents."
"Stop pretending. You're here for money, right? I'll give you a hundred thousand dollars. Leave now and never show up again," Kelly said.
"A hundred thousand dollars? Are you treating us like beggars?" Julia and Samuel were clearly unhappy.
Kelly knew them too well. "How much do you want, half a million?"
Samuel said, "You've married into a wealthy family. As your parents, we should enjoy the benefits too. But you don't even acknowledge us. We might as well go to the police and let them handle it!"
"A million dollars!" Kelly interrupted, "Only a million. Think about it. If you don't want it, forget it!"
With that, Kelly left Julia and Samuel and went to find Ryan.
A million dollars was a lot for Julia and Samuel, but they were greedy. After thinking it over, they called Grace.
