Chapter 100 Do You Know Pearl?
Pearl wanted to say something but held back. She wasn't happy, of course. She quickly got into her car and followed Jack.
Pearl just wanted to catch up with Jack and tell him she was pregnant. Little did she know that as she got to the gate of Ocean City University, she'd catch sight of him picking up Jessica from school.
Pearl gripped the steering wheel tightly, thinking, 'No wonder Jack's been ignoring me. He must have feelings for Jessica.'
She'd never seen Jack so serious before.
When Jack saw Jessica at the university entrance, he dashed to the passenger side to open the car door for her.
"Jessica, it's so hot today. Are you thirsty?" Jack asked, handing her some freshly squeezed juice. "Drink this. There's no ice; it's not good for girls to have too much ice."
Jessica was surprised by the brand on the juice cup. "This brand has been all the rage lately. Did you go out of your way to get it?"
Jack smiled, "It wasn't that long, just half an hour. My colleagues said it's popular because the fruits are airlifted from Mumbuy."
Jessica felt a bit embarrassed. "You don't have to go through so much trouble. Fruits from anywhere should be pretty much the same."
Jack winked, "As long as you like it, it's worth."
Jessica's heart sank, and she quickly looked out the window. She must be overthinking it.
She suddenly remembered Pearl claiming to be Jack's girlfriend. So, Jessica asked, "Do you know Pearl?"
Jack's face changed, and he said guiltily, "We've had drinks a few times at friends' gatherings, not very familiar."
Jessica didn't think much of it and nodded.
Jack started the car and headed toward the old house.
But behind them, besides Pearl's car, there was also James's car. James's gaze was dark and cold. He gripped the steering wheel but didn't catch up with them.
Today was the 15th, the day to return to the old house. He hadn't seen Jessica in a while and couldn't find a reason to see her. He came back early from a business trip, hoping to pick her up, only to find her getting along so well with Jack.
James felt his pride was crushed. Even if they were divorced, he wouldn't let Jessica mess around with Jack.
Just then, Rose called, "James, what should I do? There's a water leak at my place, and the floor is all wet."
James thought for a moment and said, "I'll pick you up and bring you to my place."
Rose tried to hide her joy and pretended to be considerate, "Is that really okay? Won't your wife mind?"
Thinking of the scene just now, James said coldly, "Don't worry about her."
