Chapter 107 Don't Make It Sound So Bad

The gloomy weather outside reminded him of that news story.

James drove slowly, looking for Jessica. His heart raced with anxiety, fearing something bad had happened to her.

Finally, he spotted a thin figure walking alone with a suitcase.

He jumped out of the car, ran up behind her, and grabbed her. Jessica screamed, thinking she was being attacked.

"It's me," James said in a deep voice, turning her around.

Jessica looked shocked, not expecting to see James. She mused, 'Isn't he supposed to be with Rose?'

Sensing her thoughts, James explained, "Ocean City isn't safe lately. It's late. Come back with me!"

He grabbed her hand, trying to lead her to the car.

But Jessica, thinking of Rose in her bed, felt humiliated. She struggled and yelled, "I'd rather die than go back to that house and see you two acting all lovey-dovey!"

James replied coldly, "Fine. The news just reported a series of rape and murder cases in Ocean City. If you're so brave, wander around alone. Don't blame me for not warning you if anything goes wrong!"

Once he finished speaking, a sense of fear began to creep over Jessica. She looked at the dark weather and creepy bushes, feeling a chill.

James stood by the car and asked, "Are you coming or not? I'll count to three. If you don't come, I won't care anymore."

Ultimately, Jessica chose to give in. After a moment of hesitation, she climbed into James's car.

"Just find me a nearby hotel. I won't go home," she said coldly.

James didn't respond, but he drove away from the villa.

On the way, he asked coldly, "It's late. If I hadn't shown up, who exactly were you planning to meet?"

Jessica shot back, "What's it to you?"

"Jack?" James sneered. "Do you really think he cares about you? You must not know him well. He's been with enough women to form a soccer team."

Jessica retorted, "What does this have to do with Jack? At least he didn't cheat during marriage or bring a third party to his wife's bed! You're worse than him!"

These words sent James into a fit of rage. He floored the gas pedal, and the car surged forward like an arrow! Jessica was terrified and felt like she was going to throw up.

She was on the verge of complaining but when she saw James's angry face, she bit her tongue and kept quiet.

Eventually, they arrived at a high-end neighborhood. James pressed the fingerprint lock and said, "You can stay here for now."

Jessica paused, then sarcastically asked, "So, you're really going to let Rose stay in the villa while you treat me like some mistress, keeping me on the outside?"

James pulled her close, his breath near her face. "Don't make it sound so bad. Even if you wanted to be my mistress, I wouldn't think you're clean enough!"

Jessica felt felt a sting in her heart but stubbornly said, "Then why did you kiss me? Aren't you afraid I'll taint you?"
