Chapter 138 I'll Make Sure Jessica's Done For

Pearl let out a chilling snort, her eyes gleaming with malice. "Don't worry, Mom. This time, I swear I'll make sure Jessica's done for!"

Meanwhile, Jessica had finished packing her belongings and was ready to head to the villa. With John away, everyone else in the house clearly disliking her. No point in staying and subjecting herself to further hostility.

If her school schedule wasn't so tight, she'd have gone with Mary to Auroravale for treatment.

As evening came, Jessica dragged her luggage downstairs. At the second-floor turn, Pearl blocked her way.

"Jessica, why the rush to leave? Feeling guilty about something?" Pearl taunted, standing in front of her with arms crossed and a smug smile playing on her lips.

Jessica frowned. "So you can have peace during your pregnancy. My presence seems to disturb some people."

"What do you mean?" Pearl snapped. "You've been causing chaos and tearing my parents apart. You think you can just leave? Not that easy!"

Impatient, Jessica replied, "What do you want, Pearl? Dad's just in Auroravale, not gone forever. Behave and stop causing trouble."

"Hmph, so what if Dad comes back?" Pearl sneered. "Do you really think he'd have the guts to kick me out? I'm carrying the future of the Evans family in my belly!"

"Move," Jessica said coldly. "I don't have time for this." She wasn't in the mood for Pearl today.

Pearl didn't budge, grabbing Jessica's hand with surprising strength. "No way. Apologize to my mom properly, or you're not leaving."

Jessica scoffed. "Apologize to your mom? After all the crap you two pulled? Have either of you ever once apologized to me?"

For some reason, Jessica felt that Pearl was particularly strange tonight.

Jessica knew their relationship was toxic, a constant game of one-upmanship. But Pearl had never pushed this hard before. What was she up to now?

Jessica's temper flared. "Let go of me. I don't want to argue with you."

Pearl sneered, "If I don't, what can you do? Jessica, your mom's long dead, and no one's backing you up now! Kneel and apologize to my mom, or when I marry into the Kelly family, I'll make sure you regret ever crossing me!"

If Pearl had said anything else, Jessica might have tolerated it. But she wouldn't allow anyone to speak about her mother that way.

Anger surged within her. Jessica shook off Pearl's grip and walked straight downstairs.

At that moment, Pearl let out a sharp scream and tumbled down the stairs.
