Chapter 301 Neglecting My Wife
After saying goodnight to Olivia, Jessica plopped down on the bed, knees up, trying to chill out.
She thought, 'Maybe this is for the best. James seems to be getting more and more hostile towards me. He'll probably reach a breaking point and file for divorce soon, right? Once we go our separate ways, Rose will back off from John.'
Thinking like this, Jessica felt like all the crap she was dealing with was worth it.
Just then, Pearl's voice echoed from upstairs.
"Oh! Mr. Kelly, you're so bad!"
"Mr. Kelly, be gentle!" she yelled, like she wanted to wake up the whole damn house.
Jessica's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly covered her ears, trying to block out the noise.
She told herself, 'After divorcing James, whoever he hooks up with won't matter to me. I gotta get used to this. James ain't mine!'
Meanwhile, in the master bedroom, James and Pearl were on the balcony.
James was chilling at the coffee table, sipping some red wine.
Pearl was out there, shouting those dirty words.
Only now did she realize James didn't give a damn about her.
He brought her back just to make Jessica jealous!
Thinking about it, her hatred for Jessica grew even more.
"Mr. Kelly..." Her voice was raspy as she said, "Is this enough? I really can't shout anymore."
James smirked and said, "I thought you had more stamina. Can't handle just a little bit of time?"
Afraid he'd kick her out, Pearl quickly said, "Then I'll keep going..."
"Forget it," James said indifferently and went back to the bedroom, totally uninterested.
Pearl followed him in, acting all flirty, and boldly put her hands on his shoulders.
She said seductively, "Mr. Kelly, shall I help you sleep?"
James pushed her to the ground.
Before she could get up, James tossed a pillow at her and warned, "You're smart. You should know my limits. Keep your mouth shut about Jessica!"
Pearl felt super wronged. She pitifully took the pillow and made a bed on the floor.
But seeing James, a rich guy who wasn't hers, she felt a pang of frustration.
So, she asked softly, "What's so great about Jessica? She's hot-tempered and always pisses you off. Why not try me? I can definitely do better."
James said coldly, "Say one more word, and I'll send you back to the Skyline Club right now!"
Pearl immediately shut up, not daring to say another word.
The next morning at breakfast, Jessica's seat was still empty.
James felt a bit empty inside.
In the end, he was the one who softened. He said to Olivia, "Go get some breakfast and take it to her. If she keels over from hunger, they'll accuse me of neglecting my wife!"
Olivia was pissed but didn't show it. She lowered her eyes and said, "Mrs. Kelly left at dawn, said she had something at the hospital and needed to go early."
James scowled but kept quiet. Frustration knotted his chest.
He put down his utensils, grabbed his briefcase, and stormed out of the house.
Pearl's eyes darted around, and she suddenly thought of something.
