Chapter 359 He Will Definitely Make Amends (1)

Jessica instantly knew it was James who messed with her phone. She was beyond pissed at him!

Nathan, with a cold tone, said, "So, you're still blaming me for not telling you? You've been hiding all day. The hospital director and everyone else just think you're dodging out of guilt, and that makes their suspicions about you even stronger!"

Realizing her mistake, Jessica quickly apologized, "Professor Howard, I'm sorry. I had no idea you did so much for me. It's my fault. I let you down."

She was on the verge of tears, her voice choking up.

Nathan's anger started to fade. He frowned and asked, "Did you just say you don't want to be a doctor anymore? Is that really how you feel?"

Jessica stayed silent. Thinking about all the crap and unfair treatment she had faced since her internship, she felt more and more disillusioned with the profession.

Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. She shook her head and said, "I'm really disappointed in this profession. I don't think I have the mental strength to deal with all the doubts and misunderstandings. I used to think I had to fulfill my mom's wishes and finish her work. But now, I'm just so tired..."

Nathan looked at Jessica with a pained expression. Despite being in her early twenties, she had already seen so much unethical behavior in the industry and endured so much crap and misunderstanding.

His heart ached. He slowly reached out, hugged her, and said softly, "I get it. If you need to cry, just let it all out."

Meanwhile, in the hospital hallway, James's eyes were locked on the couple hugging. He thought, 'So, just over a month after our divorce, you have already found someone new!'

James hadn't expected things to have gotten this far between them.

He stood there, fists clenched, feeling a surge of anger. He watched them talk downstairs, Nathan's hand gently touching Jessica's face. Finally, they said their goodbyes.

Later, Jessica went upstairs and was surprised to find James waiting by the elevator.

James's face was grim as he looked at her and sarcastically said, "Wow, you didn't waste any time. Already messing around with Nathan right after our divorce."

Jessica's heart sank, and she angrily asked, "Why did you mess with my phone this morning? Did you hang up on Professor Howard? And why did you block his number?"

James sneered, "Professor Howard? Calling him Professor all the time, don't you feel hypocritical? Nathan's just using that as an excuse to take advantage of you."

Jessica was baffled and said, "James, what are you talking about? You still haven't answered my question. Why did you mess with my phone?"

"It was constantly annoying me!" James said coldly. "And let me warn you again, even if you want to mess around with Nathan, you'd better do it secretly. If Grandpa finds out and gets upset, I won't let you off the hook."

Jessica was furious and accused, "You messed with my phone, blocked such an important call, and you still have the nerve to act all self-righteous? James, who do you think you are! You're just my ex-husband. What gives you the right to treat me like this!"

Her words cut deep, like a knife to James's heart. He suddenly pulled her close, their breaths mingling.

Jessica's eyes widened in shock, and she warned, "James, let go of me. Grandpa is right inside. If I scream, he'll definitely hear."
