Chapter 186 They All Abandoned Her (1)

Two days felt like an eternity for Jessica. She hoped a real divorce would finally help her cut James out of her life for good.

To cope, she threw herself into work, spending every moment in the lab to distract herself from her heartache.

Suddenly, Kylie’s shout snapped her out of her thoughts.

"What's up?" Jessica asked, frowning.

"Check out the school forum!" Kylie shoved her phone at Jessica, eyes blazing. "Someone's trying to ruin you! Reflect carefully—who have you pissed off lately?"

Jessica's heart sank as she saw the post, already flooded with comments and pinned to the top. It accused her of having a chaotic personal life, seducing Jack from the Kelly family, and causing Pearl to miscarry.

Who else but Pearl would spread such rumors?

If it weren't for James, Pearl might even claim Jessica and Jack were dating!

Words like "seducing a rich young master" linked with a college student always sparked wild imaginations. The comments buzzed with curiosity and gossip, making Jessica feel worse.

She never expected Pearl to take it to the school forum. Even with a clear conscience, rumors were powerful. Her lab mates were giving her strange looks, and even friends were whispering and pointing, eyes full of disdain.

Kylie leaned in, worried. "Jessica, what do we do? If this blows up, the school leaders will definitely talk to you!"

Jessica wasn't one to be trampled on, except when it came to James. But Pearl? Jessica had no patience for her.

She decided to confront Pearl at the Evans family home. Even if John found out, he wouldn't let Pearl treat her this way!

John had said he wanted to cut ties, but Jessica knew he wouldn't be so heartless.

Without wasting time, she grabbed her things and left the lab.

Just as she reached the gate, John's car pulled up.

Seeing him get out, she felt a pang of sadness.

"Dad," she called softly, walking up to him with red eyes. "Are you really not going to acknowledge me anymore?"

John sighed. "I just came back from the detention center where your grandma is held."

Jessica's heart ached at the mention of Louisa.

But John didn't feel her pain. "Jessica, I always thought you were kind! Do you really want to drive your grandma and sister to death?"

Jessica's heart sank, and she stepped back, shaking her head. "Do you really think I harmed Pearl and Grandma? What about me? Who will stand up for me?"
