Chapter 76 Her Actions Seemed Laughable
Right now, the girls on the field were practically throwing themselves at James.
A bunch of them even ran over to Jessica, bombarding her with questions.
"Jessica, is your brother single?"
"Does he have a girlfriend? Is he married?"
"What does your brother do? He plays so well!"
Jessica was swarmed, totally at a loss for words.
Kylie suddenly realized that despite Jessica's sharp tongue, she was actually kind and gentle. Why had she ever seen her as an enemy?
Finally, Kylie couldn't stand seeing Jessica getting mobbed like this.
She quickly stepped in, shouting, "Aren't you all annoying? Jessica's brother already has a girlfriend. You guys have no chance! Now fall out!"
Hearing this, the crowd left, looking disappointed.
Since he already had a girlfriend, their fantasies were shattered.
Seeing them leave, Kylie turned to Jessica, "Go give your boyfriend some water. Here, take this. I just bought it. Jessica, don't be shy. This is the perfect time for a guy to feel admired and adored! Just go for it!"
Jessica looked at the water Kylie handed her, feeling conflicted.
Kylie urged, "Go on! Remember to say, 'James, I really admire you. You're so handsome!' I guarantee he'll be thrilled!"
Jessica was tempted. After all, James had really captivated her on the field.
She was amazed by him and admired him even more.
So, she took the water and said to Kylie, "Thank you!"
Jessica took a deep breath, mustered up her courage, and walked toward James in the center of the field.
He was wearing sunglasses, but she could feel him looking at her.
Jessica quickened her pace, wanting to hand him the bottle of water.
Even if she couldn't say the sweet words Kylie had taught her, she would tell him he was amazing and impressive!
But just as she reached James, Rose's hands wrapped around his arm.
Jessica stopped in shock.
The moment she saw Rose, her heart sank.
James didn't expect Rose to suddenly appear either.
A strange look crossed his face as he asked indifferently, "What are you doing here?"
Rose clung to him tighter, smiling, "The dance department at Ocean City University invited me to give a lecture today, so I came. I didn't expect to run into you playing basketball. It reminded me of our college days. Did you think of those times and decide to give it a try?"
Jessica's expression darkened. She hid the water behind her back, feeling ridiculous.
Her actions seemed laughable!
Rose didn't care about others' gazes at all. She reached out to wipe James's sweat, saying sweetly, "I know you want me to see the old you, but why push yourself so hard? No matter what you're like, I really, really like you."
James didn't respond, subtly pushing her hand away, replying perfunctorily, "Just a whim!"
