Chapter 304 Deliberately Making Things Difficult for Her (2)
Jessica was totally caught off guard. She'd only been out for like ten minutes, and Cynthia had already ratted her out.
She had no choice but to ditch her phone and head to the academic office.
The teachers there tore into her, warning that if it happened again, she'd be shipped back to her previous school.
Jessica knew getting sent back during an internship was a death sentence. It meant no internship, no graduation, no official exams, and her future would be toast.
Feeling bummed out, she dragged herself back to the department. Cynthia was sitting there, arms crossed, looking ready to throw down.
"You're back? Guess if I don't report you, I can't keep you in check," Cynthia said.
Jessica was confused. Hadn't Cynthia been cool with her before?
Cynthia had never given her any grief before.
But now, Jessica could tell Cynthia was out to make her life miserable.
Jessica apologized and explained, "Ms. Wells, I was gone for ten minutes to find a classmate. If you needed me, you could've called. No need to report me, right?"
"Call you? Yeah, right!" Cynthia sneered. "You're James' sister! Like I'd mess with you!"
Jessica's face fell, but she didn't argue.
She knew she had to be more careful around Cynthia from now on.
When it was time to clock out, Cynthia pulled a fast one and kept her behind.
"Jessica, these are the patients scheduled for surgery tomorrow. You need to do their EKGs and write up the pre-op summaries before you leave," Cynthia ordered.
These were actually Cynthia's tasks.
But Jessica was a quick learner and had picked up everything in just a few days.
Cynthia had hoped Jessica would help her get in good with James, so she hadn't been bossy.
But now, she couldn't wait to dump all her work on Jessica.
"Ms. Wells, why didn't you mention this during the day?" Jessica asked, exasperated.
Looking at the stack of medical records, she said, "We had so much free time earlier. Why not then?"
Cynthia raised an eyebrow and said, "You never inquired! When we were interns, we did whatever the teachers told us. If we tried to slack off like you, we'd have been sent back ages ago!"
Afraid Cynthia would report her again, Jessica didn't argue and got to work.
Cynthia left early, telling Jessica to snap pics of the completed work and send them to her at night. Only after she reviewed and approved them could Jessica go home.
During this time, Olivia called, mentioning that she had leftovers for Jessica. In response, Jessica explained that she would be working late and might not get home until very late.
At the villa, Olivia sighed and said to James, "Mrs. Kelly got stuck working overtime by her teacher tonight. Will she be safe coming back alone?"
Pearl felt a secret thrill.
It seemed Cynthia had figured out Jessica's true colors and was making her life hell!
Her visit to Jessica today wasn't a waste; it had some effect.
She was all for anything that made Jessica's life harder.
James snorted and said indifferently, "She's not a kid. Why worry?"
Pearl chimed in, "Exactly! She's tough! If she runs into trouble, who knows who'd be more scared!"
