Chapter 401 Gerald Meets Rose in Person (3)
Jessica felt extremely nervous and quickly said, "Grandpa, you can't do this. If James finds out that Rose's child was forcibly aborted, he will hate me for the rest of his life. He will never forgive me."
"He treats you like this, and you still consider him?"
Gerald's eyes flashed with a hint of anger as he gritted his teeth and said, "I will make him willingly get rid of that woman. Alright, go and bring James in for me."
Jessica didn't know how to persuade Gerald, so she had no choice but to go out and reluctantly call James in.
They stood side by side in front of Gerald, just like on their wedding day long ago, standing side by side in front of him.
Unfortunately, now, everything had changed.
Gerald looked at them and slowly asked, "James, have you thought it through? Are you going to give up on Jessica?"
James's hand, hanging by his side, clenched into a tight fist.
No one knew how hard it was to give up someone you deeply loved.
But he had seen Jessica and Nathan alone in a room together, on his birthday no less.
His dignity had been trampled by her, shattered completely.
How could he let himself grovel to keep her?
So, he said to Gerald, "Yes, I've thought it through. I'm letting her go."
Gerald sighed and said, "Then bring Miss Morris to me. Since she is carrying a child of the Kelly Family, I can't just ignore it."
James and Jessica were both surprised.
After all, Gerald had just shown such disdain and aversion towards Rose.
But now, Gerald said sincerely, "I'm old and near death. If I could have a great-grandchild, I would die in peace. Go, bring her here this afternoon, let me meet her."
A dull pain surged in Jessica's heart.
She had been married to James for so long and had never fulfilled Gerald's wish.
Now, her story was finally coming to an end. She should have felt relieved, but her heart was filled with regret and reluctance.
Jessica felt like an outsider now. She awkwardly said, "Grandpa, I have some work to do at the office, so I'll leave first. I'll come back to see you later."
With that, Jessica hurriedly left Gerald's hospital room.
James still couldn't believe it. He carefully observed Gerald's expression and said, "Do you want to see Rose?"
Gerald retorted, "Why not? She is carrying a child of the Kelly Family. Shouldn't I at least meet her?"
James was afraid that Gerald would force him to marry Rose, just like he had forced Jack to marry Pearl.
So, he immediately stated his position, "Grandpa, I won't marry Rose, and I definitely won't let her become the matriarch of the Kelly Family. You can rest assured. Whether you see her or not doesn't matter. I never intended to let her disturb your or Jessica's life."
Gerald sarcastically said, "Yes, you never intended to let her disturb us. But now, our lives are in chaos! Jessica can't focus on her internship, and I can't rest and recover in peace."
James was even more puzzled and said, "So, you still don't like her. Why do you want to see her then?"
Gerald said in a deep voice, "Because she is carrying your child. As the head of the Kelly Family, I can't just ignore it."
