Chapter 584 Experts from Abroad (4)
"Besides, without James, would Jessica have the money to spend like this?"
Thinking about this, Rose's suspicions and wariness eased significantly. She picked up Isaac and said softly, "Isaac, Mommy's gonna make sure you get better. Tomorrow, a famous doctor from overseas is coming to Ocean City Hospital. They say he invented a new medicine for your condition. We'll go see him first thing in the morning, okay?"
With that, Rose took Isaac back home.
When Olivia saw her, she said coldly, "Dinner's ready. Mr. Kelly will be home soon."
Over the years, if it weren't for James asking her to stay, she would have left long ago.
Even if she didn't leave, Rose would have found a way to drive her out.
Rose was used to Olivia's indifference by now.
But now, it was only a matter of time before she became the mistress of this house. Why lower herself to argue with a servant?
So, Rose maintained her poised demeanor and said with a half-smile, "Isaac needs to continue taking his medicine in the morning. I'll need you to prepare it again tonight."
Olivia couldn't hold back any longer and said, "Can't Mr. Kelly's medicine be prepared at night, stored in the fridge, and heated up in the morning?"
It had been a week now. Every day, she worked during the day and had to get up at four in the morning to prepare Isaac's medicine.
Just because Rose insisted that Isaac's medicine had to be fresh and slowly dissolved in warm water, filtered every hour.
Olivia knew Rose was just using this to torment her.
Isaac, hearing Olivia's words, couldn't help but say to Rose, "Mom, Olivia is really tired. She takes care of us during the day and has to get up so early to prepare my medicine. Maybe we should stop. I don't think the medicine is working anyway."
Rose immediately glared at Isaac, signaling him to be quiet.
Then she sneered, "Olivia, you can disrespect me, and it's fine if you're not satisfied with me. But Isaac is James's precious child. If you neglect Isaac, do you think James will let you off?"
Just then, James came home.
Isaac quickly ran into his arms, "Daddy, you're back!"
James picked him up, looking at the frail yet sensible Isaac, his eyes filled with pain and affection.
He asked, "Did you feel unwell today?"
Isaac shook his head, "No, I'm fine."
Rose swayed her hips as she walked over, smiling, "Thanks to Olivia's hard work recently, taking care of Isaac day and night, preparing his medicine. I told her to let the other maids do it, but Olivia insisted on doing it herself. Isn't that right, Olivia?"
Olivia had no choice but to nod reluctantly, though she was suffering inside.
James, however, showed her respect, "Thank you, Olivia. I'll double your salary this month."
"Thank you, Mr. Kelly."
Olivia sighed slightly and went back to the kitchen to continue her work.
Rose said considerately, "James, put Isaac down. You've had a long day; don't tire yourself out holding him."
"I'm not tired."
James looked at Isaac, suddenly reminded of the child Jessica had cruelly aborted five years ago.
His gaze grew distant, and he said softly, "As long as Isaac is healthy and I can see him every day, I don't feel tired at all."
During dinner, James remembered that an expert from abroad would be at Ocean City University tomorrow. He asked, "Did you make the appointment for Susan's treatment that I mentioned this morning?"
