Chapter 143 James Came to Save Her (2)
After hanging up with John, the maid asked, "Mrs. Evans, Miss Jessica Evans hasn't eaten or drunk anything all day. Should we give her some water?"
Louisa snapped, "No! She'll get food and water when she admits she pushed Pearl down the stairs. Until then, let her starve. She'll confess eventually!"
With Louisa's orders, no one care about Jessica anymore.
It had been a whole day until the evening.
Joan returned from the hospital, crying to Louisa about Pearl's condition, saying the baby couldn't be saved and the Evans family's reputation was at risk.
Louisa was livid. "What did we do to deserve this? Why did we take in such people? John is really unlucky to be stuck with that wife and daughter."
Joan was puzzled. From Louisa's tone, it seemed like Jessica wasn't part of the Evans family.
If she were, there wouldn't be an issue of taking her in.
Seeing Joan's confusion, Louisa quickly changed her tune.
She said, "I mean, Jessica really deserves to die!"
Joan pretended to cry, "Mrs. Evans, we need to deal with Jessica before John comes back. Once he is here, we won't be able to touch her."
A sinister look flashed in Louisa's eyes. "I'll make her confess! Once she admits it, we'll record it and hand it over to the police. The lawyer said it's considered intentional injury, with a minimum sentence of three years."
"Really?" Joan's eyes lit up, couldn't wait to send Jessica to jail.
Then she worriedly asked, "But what if she refuses to confess?"
Louisa said icily, "Then we'll keep her locked up. Hunger and thirst are very painful."
Louisa showed no mercy, certain Jessica would admit to the crime.
Time passed slowly, and by dawn, Louisa and Joan were both red-eyed, but they still hadn't heard Jessica's confession.
In the storage room, Jessica's hair was messy, and she didn't even have the strength to stand.
She knew she probably had heatstroke. But she hadn't done anything, and she wouldn't confess even if she died!
So, she endured the hunger and thirst, sitting in that small corner, suffering a great deal.
She no longer had the energy to hate anyone or think about anything.
James's cold and handsome face inexplicably appeared in her mind, along with the sweet nothings he had whispered in her ear.
Every word was so beautiful.
Jessica's eyes reddened, and tears fell to the ground like shattered pearls.
She curled up and choked out, "James, where are you? I miss you so much."
Meanwhile, Louisa hadn't gotten Jessica's confession but was instead met by James.
Moreover, he didn't notify anyone but brought his bodyguards and directly entered the Evans family home.
Louisa, who had been up all night, hurriedly went downstairs, trembling.
Seeing the imposing James storming in, she felt a bit scared and things were going to be difficult.
Louisa forced a smile and said, "Oh, James, you're here. Why are you here in the middle of the night?"
James coldly replied, "Where's Jessica? I'm here to take her back."
Louisa snorted, her attitude firm, "I'm afraid that's not possible. I don't know if Mr. Kelly told you Jessica has pushed Pearl down the stairs. This matter can't be resolved easily without an explanation."
