Chapter 187 They All Abandoned Her (2)

John's face twisted with anger. "I've been strict with Pearl, but she finally got over her miscarriage. What did you do at the ball to push her? I've always backed you, but now you've gone too far."

Before Jessica could respond, Joan came out of the villa, ignoring Jessica. "John, you need to come back in. Pearl still isn’t eating or drinking. The doctor said she’ll need an IV if this keeps up!"

John's worry deepened. Despite everything, Pearl was still his daughter. He turned to Jessica, eyes cold. "Leave! Your grandma's still locked up, and Pearl's starving because of you. We're done!"

With a final shake of his head, John brushed past Jessica, disappointment clear. He disappeared into the villa, leaving Jessica standing there, heart heavy with rage and sorrow.

Joan, seeing Jessica's devastated look, couldn't hide her satisfaction. "Jessica, I've wanted you out of the Evans family for a long time! How does it feel now? In the end, it's just Pearl and me, and you're the one nobody cares!"

Jessica smiled bitterly. Everyone had abandoned her. It seemed she only had herself now.

Numbly, Jessica dragged her weary steps forward.

On the way, her counselor called several times, probably to confirm the rumors on the forum. She didn't answer.

A summer thunderstorm hit, and Jessica didn't have an umbrella, so she let the rain wash over her.

Her heart was already empty, and her body seemed unimportant.

Meanwhile, James had rushed back.

He'd been abroad for the past two days but had Sean keeping an eye on things.

Pearl had tried to spill the beans to a magazine, but he suppressed it, and no media dared publish anything. But in just two days, Pearl posted on the Ocean City University forum.

Olivia walked over nervously. "Mr. Kelly, we still can't reach Mrs. Kelly."

"Keep trying!" James's tense emotions were hidden under his cold demeanor.

Sean had gone to the school to check, and everyone said Jessica left in the afternoon. Her phone was unreachable.

The rain was pouring, and James was getting anxious.

Suddenly, the maid outside cried, "Mrs. Kelly! Mrs. Kelly, what's wrong?"

James immediately rushed out. He saw Jessica collapsed in the rain, unconscious.

His pupils contracted sharply; she was soaked, and he didn't know how long she'd been in the rain.

He ran over, picked her up, and headed to the garage. "Jessica, Jessica." He repeatedly called her, his voice trembling slightly.

He hadn't been gone long, but why? Why did Jessica seem so thin and frail?
