Chapter 29 Kneel Down and Admit Your Mistake
But now, the woman in the emergency room was not out yet, and no one dared to jump to the conclusion; they were just watching the drama unfold. The atmosphere became somewhat tense for a moment.
Jessica unconsciously glanced at James through the crowd. After all, they were nominally husband and wife; at least at this moment, he should say something. But James remained standing where he was, his expression calm as if he had no emotional fluctuations, just looking at her indifferently.
For a moment, Jessica felt a chill all over her body, even though they had no communication from the very beginning. She knew that in James's heart, she was already the murderer.
A self-mocking cold smile flashed in Jessica's eyes; she didn't expect to end up like this. It was really too ridiculous.
Rose was still questioning and pressuring continuously. At this moment, the door of the emergency room was opened from the inside. Jessica seemed to see hope, pushed Rose in front of her and then staggered towards the doctor.
Now only the old woman inside could clear her name.
"Doctor, how is the patient?"
The doctor didn't speak, silently took off his mask, and sighed with a bit of disappointment. Rose seemed to realize something, so she hurried to the doctor and helplessly grabbed the doctor's wrist as if supporting her body in this way.
"Doctor, my grandma should be fine, right? Don't scare me; she will be okay, right?"
"I'm very sorry. The patient was already old, and she was here too late, so..."
The doctor's words were like a bolt from the blue. Rose stood there in disbelief, then took two steps back and directly fell into James's arms.
"What should I do? It's my grandma."
"Mom! Mom, how could you die? What am I going to do in the future, Mom!"
The man also shouted and tried to rush in but was stopped by the doctor. The scene became chaotic.
James comfortingly patted Rose's shoulder, then cast a sharp glance at Jessica. He frowned deeply, his eyes full of seriousness and gravity.
Jessica couldn't help but tremble all over when she felt his gaze. She shook her head slightly with red-rimmed eyes, trying to find some reason to defend herself.
"Jessica, what else do you have to say at this point? If you hate me, why didn't you come after me? Why are you hurting my family? You actually killed my grandma; you deserve to die!"
As Rose spoke, she suddenly grabbed Jessica's hair and roughly dragged her to the ground.
"Kneel and apologize to my grandma. I want my grandma back!"
"It wasn't me. I've said it many times. I was just trying to save her. You have no evidence; why are you framing me?"
Jessica used all her strength to push Rose away. She wanted to say more, but James had already stood in front of Rose at some point. He stared at Jessica and spoke coldly after a moment.
"Jessica, you have to pay for your mistakes. Now that someone is dead, you still don't repent? Do you really want to make a big deal out of this and involve the police? Apologize to Rose now!"
James's words instantly extinguished all of Jessica's hope.
