Chapter 259 He Chose Jessica Without Hesitation (3)
Jessica smirked, "You really thought I wanted an apology from you?"
Rose, totally thrown off, asked, "Then what are you getting at?"
Jessica leaned in, her voice dripping with menace. "You messed with my life, so I just wrecked yours. Neither of us is getting off easy. And it looks like James doesn't care much about you either, huh? Pregnant with his kid and still shipped off abroad? You mean to him."
Rose's eyes blazed with anger. "So, you did this on purpose! You wanted to drive me away, to push me out of James' life!"
Jessica's gaze turned icy. "That's because you messed with my family. I could've let you be with James, but you used me to get what you wanted. Now, neither of us is getting off easy. Even if you have this kid, it'll be an illegitimate child! I'm not giving up my spot for you. Got it?"
Rose, seething, snapped, "You're so despicable! Jessica, you don't love James at all. You're just using him to get at me, aren't you?"
Jessica's smile was cold. "So what if I am? I learned it from you—you made me this way."
With that, and under Rose's furious glare, Jessica walked away.
Rose seethed with anger as she pondered, "Why does it have to be this way? Jessica doesn't love James—she just used him, yet he treated her like a queen. And here I am, giving my all, only to end up with nothing but heartache."
The more Rose dwelled on it, the more her fury intensified. She wasn't going to stick around or flee overseas like a coward. Just as she was about to storm off, she accidentally collided with a girl.
"Ouch," Rose glared at Kylie and snapped, "Watch where you're going!"
Kylie recognized her immediately, even though she knew Rose didn't know her.
But looking at the arrogant Rose, she couldn't help but retort, "Even if I don't watch where I'm going, I'd never seduce a married man."
"What do you mean by that?" Rose's shock turned into scrutiny. "Who are you? Keep talking nonsense, and I'll report you!"
Kylie snorted, "If I were you, I'd find a hole to crawl into."
With that, she pushed past Rose and went straight into the office to find Jessica.
Kylie had been concerned about Jessica for the past few days, and today, she managed to slip out because work wasn't too hectic.
The office wasn't the place to talk, so Jessica went with her to the stairwell.
Kylie told Jessica about her run-in with Rose and said, "I usually stay out of these rich people's drama. But I couldn't stand her two-faced attitude, so I talked back to her."
"Thanks, Kylie," Jessica said softly. She knew Kylie was usually a loner. For her to stand up for her, Jessica felt that Kylie truly considered her a friend.
"What's there to thank?" Kylie said, a bit sheepishly. "Last time, it was my fault for dragging you into this mess. That woman was really lucky—lying on the operating table and still managing to escape!"
Jessica forced a smile, though it didn't reach her eyes. "Maybe it's just fate! It's not your fault; you were looking out for me."
Kylie sighed deeply, "So what are you gonna do now? Are you really gonna let that bitch keep the kid?"
