Chapter 121 Spent A Fortune on the World's Only Rare Pink Diamond Necklace
She asked excitedly, "How did you make up last night? Spill the details!"
Jessica felt awkward. She thought they had made up, but the issues were still there. Rose was still a problem, and the wall between them hadn't come down. It was more of a one-sided compromise.
Seeing Jessica struggle to speak, Lily suddenly giggled.
"What's so funny?" Jessica asked, curious.
Lily covered her mouth, laughing. "Did you two hook up again last night?"
Jessica's face turned red. "If you keep talking nonsense, I'm done talking to you!"
Lily remembered the main event and changed the subject. "By the way, are you going to the charity gala tomorrow? I heard the Pink Heart necklace will be there. Let's go check it out!"
Jessica shook her head. "I have the MCAT coming up, and I've been so busy that I haven't had any time to study. I'm hitting the library with my classmates tomorrow night."
Lily didn't push. "Got it. I'll go alone then. Maybe I'll run into your husband!"
Jessica thought if that happened, she definitely wouldn't want to go.
The next day, Lily went to the charity gala.
Meanwhile, Jessica and Kylie went to the library. Jessica noticed Kylie glued to her phone.
She leaned over and whispered, "Do you really not see me as a competitor anymore? Not worried about the MCAT? It's just a few months away, and you're still on your phone?"
Kylie quickly showed her the screen. "Check this out—'The President of The Kelly Corporation Spent A Fortune on the World's Only Rare Pink Diamond Necklace.' That's your husband, right?"
Kylie wasn't sure. James was low-key and didn't let his name or face appear in trending topics. The post only had pictures of the necklace, not James.
Jessica was surprised James actually bought the necklace.
Just then, Lily called, laughing. "I just left the charity gala. Your husband is amazing; he dropped over three million dollars on that pink diamond necklace for you."
Jessica was shocked. She never imagined the necklace would fetch such an astronomical price.
Lily reminded her, "Just wait for the huge surprise on your birthday next month! And remember, you have to act completely clueless and not mention it at all."
"Why?" Jessica asked, confused.
Lily sighed. "You silly girl! He clearly wants to surprise you. Pretend you don't know so he can feel accomplished and happy about it!"
Jessica thought that Lily made sense. She felt a rush of excitement, remembering two days ago when James gently touched her collarbone and mentioned how stunning the necklace would look on her neck.
After the call, Jessica returned to her seat.
Seeing her smile, Kylie asked, "What's got you so happy?"
Jessica muttered, "Do you think that pink diamond necklace would look good on me?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with a mix of curiosity and excitement.
Kylie was stunned. She had thought James bought the necklace for the mistress.
