John looked at Jessica, worry all over his face. "You can't just stay home forever. We need to fix this!"
Jessica's voice was firm. "I want a divorce," she said. "I can't share my husband with another woman. It's gross."
John didn't argue. Instead, he looked proud. "That's my girl!" he said, smiling. "Once you decide, I'll do whatever it takes to get you out of the Kelly family."
"Dad, don't worry about me," Jessica said calmly. "James won't hurt me, but he might come after you. I know his temper. Please, don't fight with him."
John's eyes teared up, and he sighed. "Pearl's gone with her mom. You're my only daughter now. I can't let James ruin you."
"It won't happen," Jessica said, shaking her head with a small smile. "I won't suffer in silence. If he's bad to me, I'll leave. I'm grown up now. Don't treat me like a kid."
Both John and Jessica were worried about each other, but neither could stop.
John nodded, feigning agreement, but was resolved to shield Jessica from James if necessary.
Meanwhile, at the Skyline Club, Rose and Ambrose had a tense moment. She hid her irritation, trying to sound sweet. "Be gentle. It's our child, after all!"
Ambrose laughed coldly, his eyes predatory. "You say it's my child, but aren't you planning to have him call James 'Dad'?" He gripped her chin, smiling menacingly.
"Remember," he said darkly, "this child is to help us get the Kelly family's assets. If you betray me, I'll expose the child's identity. A paternity test will prove he's mine!"
Rose was struck with panic; she had undervalued Ambrose's madness. He was capricious, as proven when he insisted she bear his child, professing it was from love. She had used the child to become Mrs. Kelly. Now, it was clear Ambrose was always a step ahead.
Ambrose wrapped his arms around her from behind, his cold lips brushing her ear, making her shiver. "Rose, don't betray me," he whispered, his words a threat. His fingers tightened around her neck. "Or else, who knows what I'll do."
Rose realized the child was her ticket to becoming Mrs. Kelly, but also a ticking time bomb that could destroy her.
