Chapter 28 Can't Explain
"How dare you bite me! My mom is still in the emergency room because of you, fighting for her life, and you show no remorse. Everyone, check it out! People like her don't deserve to live in this world!"
The man, furious, shouted at the top of his lungs, completely disregarding his image.
Jessica slightly opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but she found she couldn't see anything clearly in front of her. Her body swayed, clearly struggling to stay upright.
She nearly stumbled to the ground but managed to steady herself by taking two steps back and leaning against the wall.
Taking a deep breath, Jessica instinctively looked up and saw a familiar figure in the crowd.
In her daze, she couldn't help but feel a stir in her heart when she met James's indifferent gaze.
Jessica didn't expect to see James here.
Hadn't he just missed her call?
"Dad, what happened to you? What's with the injury on your hand?"
The sudden voice made Jessica freeze in place. Her eyes reddened as she turned her gaze to Rose.
So, James was here with Rose, not for her.
Thinking of this, a wave of bitterness surged in her heart. She forced a faint smile but stood up straighter.
She hadn't done anything wrong. So, she wouldn't apologize in front of these people.
"It was this crazy woman who bit me. She caused your grandmother to faint on the road, and now she's in the emergency room. I asked her to apologize, but she refused, wouldn't admit it, and even bit me."
The man pressed on his wound, pretending to be in pain, completely ignoring the slap mark on Jessica's face.
Upon hearing this, Rose's face instantly filled with anger. She walked up to Jessica and slapped her again.
This time, Jessica didn't even have time to react.
She was ready to argue with Rose but didn't expect her to hit her directly in front of James.
The loud slap made the atmosphere tense. Jessica fell to the ground, her head hitting the wall, making her dizzy.
"What did I ever do to you? Even if you're unhappy with me, can't you come at me directly? Why hurt my father and grandmother? My grandmother is old, and you are so ruthless to harm her. Do you have any conscience at all?"
Rose's accusatory voice came from above. She choked up as she spoke, seeming deeply wronged, even shedding tears.
Her tearful appearance indeed evoked sympathy, but no one cared about Jessica lying on the ground.
Jessica pressed on her faintly aching wound, her body weak, unable to muster the strength to get up.
"Oh my, why would someone suddenly attack an innocent old lady? It turns out this is the reason. Could she be homewrecker?"
"Look at her. She's quite pretty. She must have been jealous of their good relationship, so she attacked. It's ridiculous. Why isn't a woman like her dead already? She's harmed so many people."
"Jessica, say something! What do you want from me? Just tell me directly. Stop torturing me like this. I'm begging you!"
Rose relentlessly pulled at Jessica, trying to amplify her own sorrow.
Everyone sympathized with her, while Jessica became the villain in their eyes.
