Chapter 331 I Won't Marry You (3)

No matter how hard she tried, Cynthia just couldn't stand Jessica anymore.

One of the nearby doctors chimed in, "Cynthia, chill out. Jessica's doing pretty well. Look at the other interns; they're clueless. We end up doing everything ourselves. Remember when we were interns? We were just as lost. Cut her some slack."

Cynthia snorted and shot Jessica a glare. "You better step up your game!"

With that, she rushed off to the operating room, not wanting to argue further.

After all, assisting in Nathan's surgery was a big deal, and Cynthia wasn't about to miss out on that.

A nearby teacher sighed, "Cynthia's got all the luck. As soon as Professor Howard came back, he joined their team. She gets way more chances to assist in surgeries with him than we do."

Jessica sighed, feeling frustrated. Nathan was always busy, juggling surgeries and lectures at the university. Whenever he did come to the department, he was swamped with people, making it impossible for him to notice the struggles of interns like her.

Jessica wondered, 'If Nathan knew how Cynthia was treating me, would he say something to her and make my life a bit easier?'

But she quickly brushed off the thought. With Nathan's status, why would he bother helping her? She was just daydreaming.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed with a message from Kylie.

Kylie: [Jessica, I knitted a pair of gloves for you. Come to the OB-GYN department to get them after your shift.]

Kylie and Lily were among the few who knew about her divorce. Since Kylie was also interning at the same hospital, she always tried to cheer Jessica up.

Jessica felt a warm glow in her heart as she read the message. Despite the pressure of upcoming graduate exams and the busy schedule of internships and studying, Kylie had found time to knit her a pair of gloves after noticing her hands turning red from the cold. She had even scolded Jessica for not taking better care of herself after the divorce.

After her shift, Jessica headed to the OB-GYN department to find Kylie, hoping to grab lunch together. But unexpectedly, she saw a familiar figure at the entrance of the ward.

She froze. Her eyes welled up instantly. James was there, pushing Rose in a wheelchair, probably for a prenatal checkup. He occasionally bent down, listening to Rose as they whispered to each other.

Jessica was in a daze. She knew watching them would hurt, but she couldn't look away. She couldn't tell if she missed him so much that she wanted to see him again, or if she was just torturing herself by watching how happy he and Rose were together.

Just then, James turned around, and their eyes met.
