Chapter 117 Why Are You Crying

James wasn't mad at Lily. Instead, he calmly said, "Send me your address, and I'll pick her up."

Lily dodged Jessica's attempts to grab the phone and retorted, "Oh, you're coming to get her? Planning to keep both women at home? Jessica's a clean freak. She won't stay in a place where a third party has been!"

Initially, Lily aimed to empower Jessica, showing James that she wasn't someone to be pushed around.

But to her surprise, James suddenly retorted, "Doesn't she want a divorce? Tell her to come home and sign the papers."

Lily was stunned and wanted to scold him, but he hung up, leaving only the dial tone.

Jessica looked at her expectantly. "Lily, what did he say?" Jessica asked, nervously twisting her hands.

Lily hesitated, then said, "He said you should go back and sign the divorce papers."

Jessica's heart sank, breaking into countless pieces. Her face went rigid, but she forced a stiff smile and said, "It's okay. I've wanted a divorce for a long time. This is just right."

Trying to hold back her emotions, she added, "Lily, you don't need to see me off. I'll go back by myself."

Lily grabbed her, worried. "Jessica, are you okay? It's my fault. I shouldn't have talked to him like that. Did I push him too hard?"

Jessica sniffled and sighed, "It's not your fault. Divorce was inevitable."

Lily didn't feel comfortable letting her drive back alone, so she said, "I'll take you home." They drove to Jessica's house in silence.

Lily felt guilty, thinking she had made things worse. Jessica, sitting beside her, tried to keep her swollen eyes open, her throat hurting.

Finally, they arrived.

Jessica quickly said goodbye to Lily and walked into the house with heavy steps.

James was on the couch, waiting. He wore a white shirt, looking as cold and noble as ever.

"Come here," he said, patting the spot next to him, indicating for her to sit down.

Jessica took a deep breath, clenched her fists, and walked over. She didn't sit but stood in front of him and asked, "Where are the divorce papers?"

James frowned, "Do you really want a divorce that badly?"

Feeling wronged, Jessica said with a sob, "Didn't you ask me to come back for the divorce? Since you want it, bring out the papers. I'll sign them! I won't stop you."

Seeing her cry, her eyes swollen, James suddenly understood something.

He stood up, gently cupped her cheeks, and tenderly wiped away her tears. "Is that so? Then why are you crying?" he asked softly, his voice a mix of gentleness and ambiguity, his warm breath brushing her cheeks.
