Chapter 265 Why Take It Seriously?

Cynthia: [Mr. Kelly, no. Jessica's doing great. She's busting her butt with work and school.]

James squinted at the message, puzzled, and shot back a question mark, indicating that if it wasn't about Jessica, there was no need to chat.

After what felt like forever, Cynthia sent another message.

Cynthia: [Mr. Kelly, ever since I saw you last time, I've been into you. And guess what? Jessica's all for it. She even gave me your Facebook.]

James stared at the message, dumbfounded, and then anger started bubbling up.

He thought, 'Is Jessica out of her mind? She's setting me up with this chick?'

James didn't waste a second. He blocked Cynthia and tossed his phone aside.

On the other end, Cynthia was shocked. Her messages weren't going through anymore. She realized she'd been blocked and rushed to Jessica.

"Jessica, what's the deal? Your brother blocked me," Cynthia said, frustrated. "Did I mess up or something?"

She showed Jessica the messages, and Jessica nearly had a heart attack, knowing that James would never let her off the hook!

As Jessica feared, if James didn't have a bunch of important meetings today, he would've dragged her over for a serious scolding.

When his secretary popped in around noon to ask about lunch, he waved her off. James was so pissed he couldn't even think about eating.

Just then, his phone rang. Frowning, he saw it was Jessica. He declined the call and tossed the phone aside, not giving it another glance.

On the other end, Jessica was freaking out. She called several more times, but eventually, the phone was turned off.

Jessica spent the whole day at work on edge. After work, she didn't dare go John's home and instead headed back to the villa to wait for James.

Olivia smiled. "Mrs. Kelly, you must be exhausted. Come have some dinner."

Jessica glanced upstairs and asked, "Is he back yet?"

Olivia replied honestly, "Oh, Mr. Kelly called earlier. He's got a social event tonight, so he won't be back for dinner."

Jessica pressed her lips together, feeling super uneasy. She could tell James was really mad.

She lost her appetite and said faintly, "Put the food away. I'll wait for him here."

She grabbed a professional book and plopped down on the living room sofa, reading while waiting for him to come back.

At the Skyline Club, after a few drinks, James vented to Michael about the past few days.

He was a proud guy and rarely showed this side to anyone. But today, he was so angry he couldn't hold it in.

Michael chuckled but quickly shut up when James shot him a death glare.

Michael said, "You've got an illegitimate kid, and you expect your wife not to be upset? Isn't that a bit much?"

"She can hate me, blame me, whatever. I can handle that," James said, taking a deep drag on his cigarette. "But I can't handle her saying she doesn't love me. And I can't handle her playing with my feelings like that."

Michael thought for a moment and said, "If she was totally cool with Rose's kid, then maybe she doesn't really love you. I think Jessica's just being stubborn and saying stuff out of spite. Pushing another woman at you is just her way of acting out. Why take it so seriously?"
