Chapter 59 Pursuing Jessica

Jack often saw how Gerald doted on Jessica, treating her like his own granddaughter.

He thought, 'If I can win Jessica over and she puts in a good word with Grandpa, will I still have to put up with James?'

Jack nodded eagerly, "Mom, I think this could work! Jessica brings good luck to her husband! How else did James rise so quickly in the company after marrying her?"

That night, Jack moved back to the Kelly family's old house.

During dinner, Gerald asked, "You were doing fine on your own. Why move back all of a sudden?"

Jack, looking respectful, said, "Grandpa, you've been unwell lately, and I was worried. Mom and Dad are also concerned. I'm moving back to take care of you."

Gerald studied him but saw no guilt on his face.

What was going on?

James was getting more and more out of hand, but Jack, who he'd never thought much of, was becoming sensible and respectful.

Gerald still had some affection for his younger generation.

He nodded, relieved, "Alright, I'm touched by your concern. Charles, prepare a room for him!"

"Thank you, Grandpa," Jack said, sneaking a glance at Jessica sitting next to Gerald.

Jessica didn't react. She acted indifferent, as if she hadn't even noticed him.

Jack thought gloomily, 'Winning Jessica over might take longer than I thought.'

To win Gerald's favor, Jack suddenly suggested, "Grandpa, I saw on the weather forecast that there will be a heavy storm tomorrow, maybe even a tornado. Is Jessica going to school? I can give her a ride on my way to work."

"No need, I'll drive myself," Jessica immediately refused.

She didn't feel close to Jack. Probably because of James, she didn't like Linda and Jack either. Naturally, she was unwilling to accept his help.

Jack felt humiliated but persisted, "We're all family; don't be so polite. I'm just on my way to give you a ride!"

Gerald thought about last year's tornado, where several people died, and he wasn't comfortable with Jessica going to school alone.

So, he instructed, "Make sure you get Jessica to school safely and bring her back safely, too. Got it?"

Jack quickly agreed, "Don't worry, Grandpa."

Jessica felt that if she refused again, it would seem ungrateful.

So, she awkwardly said to Jack, "Then I'll trouble you."

The next morning.

Jack and Jessica had breakfast and then left.

Outside, it was indeed stormy.

Jack held an umbrella for her and said, "Jessica, this whole week will be like this. Since I pass by your school on my way to work, it's convenient. Grandpa is worried and wants me to take care of you for James."

Jessica sat in the back of the car, not in the front passenger seat.

She deliberately kept some distance from Jack and refused, "This is too much trouble for Mr. Kelly. I'll drive myself tomorrow."

Jack said generously, "Jessica, we're all family, don't keep calling me Mr. Kelly. Just call me Jack! That's what the family calls me."

This made Jessica feel a bit awkward, not knowing what to say.

After all, she wasn't familiar with Jack.

She always felt that she wasn't really part of the Kelly family, and for two years, James never gave her the chance to integrate.

When they arrived at the school, she quickly got out of the car.

After all, Jack's red Ferrari was too eye-catching.

And the school gate was a place where rumors and scandals easily started.

Jack watched Jessica's back, a meaningful smile playing on his lips.
