Chapter 118 Sorry for Hurting You
Jessica tried to break free, but James held her tighter.
"Alright, stop messing around. Rose is already gone. I've already had Olivia change all the sheets, bedding, even the carpet," James said as he pulled her into his arms, his voice steady and reassuring.
Jessica's emotions finally settled. She cried in his arms, letting out all the pent-up feelings from the past days.
When James's shirt was soaked, she looked up, tear-streaked. "But you told Lily you wanted me back to sign divorce papers."
James smiled, pinching her cheek. "If I hadn't said that, would you have come back? And stay away from that Lily. If it weren't for her, I would've picked you up myself."
"Don't you dare talk about Lily!" Jessica shouted as she wiped away her tears, roaring like a little lion.
James gently wiped her face. "Did I hurt you that day?" he asked softly.
Jessica was taken aback, her cheeks flushing a deep red, reminiscent of a cooked shrimp. It definitely hurt. She struggled to find the words to discuss this sensitive topic with James about it without turning red.
Lowering her head, she muttered, "There's nothing beautiful about it."
Her shy look amused James. He whispered in her ear, "Really? I think it's quite beautiful."
Jessica quickly moved away, her voice filled with anger. "What's beautiful about it? It's just pain."
He gently pulled her back into his arms, his voice soft and apologetic. "I'll be gentler next time, okay? Sorry for hurting you that day."
Jessica's heartbeat became erratic, feeling as though he might actually cause her heart to skip a beat. She wondered, 'Which side is the real James?'
His sweet words were so gentle and comforting that she found herself wanting to immerse completely in the warmth and tenderness he offered.
Just then, Olivia called, "Mr. Kelly, Mrs. Kelly, dinner is ready."
Jessica stepped out of James's arms, embarrassed. "I'll go change my clothes first."
James asked Olivia to set the table and followed Jessica to the bedroom.
Sure enough, the sheets and bedding were new, and the carpet was now white cashmere.
She felt a bit better and opened the curtains. Then her expression darkened. 'Did James and Rose make love on this bed?' she pondered.
James thought she was upset about the necklace, asked with concern. "What's bothering you? I heard that the necklace you had your eye on at Golden Plaza was bought by someone else. Is that it?"
Jessica understood and frowned. "Did Rose complain to you again? Whatever you think, I have nothing to say."
James walked over, looking at her gently. "That's not what I meant. I've neglected you these past two years and haven't given you any gifts."
Jessica was stunned, looking at him in disbelief.
She mused, 'Was this still James? When did he become so aware?'
She had thought he was going to scold her for what happened at Golden Plaza today!
