Chapter 464 Wanting Her to Cooperate for a Lifetime (2)
Even many people were relieved that James had returned.
Otherwise, who knows what kind of mess The Kelly Corporation would be in with those two incompetent father and son in charge!
After the meeting, James returned to his office, only to be surprised to find Jessica and Olivia there.
James frowned and said, "Olivia, I told you to take care of her at the hospital. Why did you bring her here?"
It was freezing outside, and he didn't want her to catch a cold.
Jessica quickly said, "Don't blame Olivia. I insisted she bring me. I heard you were back at The Kelly Corporation, and I was worried about you."
James waved Olivia away and then walked over to Jessica, suddenly wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her into his embrace.
He curled his lips and asked in a husky, ambiguous tone, "Now that you've seen me, are you relieved?"
Jessica looked at his spirited appearance, as if the James from before was a fake, and this was the real James.
She sighed in relief and asked, "When I came in, I heard a lot of people in your company saying you had reprimanded Jack and George. Did you come back to The Kelly Corporation because of me?"
James tapped her nose affectionately and said, "You guessed half right! Actually, I would have come back no matter what, but because of you, it sped up the process."
He had originally planned to wait a bit longer, to let Jack and his cronies make bigger mistakes and completely fail at The Kelly Corporation.
But because Jack had targeted Jessica, crossing his bottom line, he couldn't tolerate it any longer.
Jessica suddenly understood and said angrily, "So, you never gave up on The Kelly Corporation, and you were confident you could handle Jack?"
"What else?" James smiled and said, "Did you really think your husband would let anyone push him around?"
Jessica, angry, turned to leave, but James pulled her back into his arms.
She pounded his chest and said indignantly, "Do you know how worried I was about you the past few days? You clearly had a plan to deal with them, so why didn't you tell me? You're too much!"
James let her vent her anger on him. When she had calmed down a bit, he said softly, "Had enough?"
Jessica turned her face away and said angrily, "I don't want to talk to you."
"Alright, then let me say something?"
James smiled, patiently holding her in his arms, and said gently, "You said I didn't tell you, but didn't you go to see Jack without discussing it with me? But Jessica, you have to understand, I didn't tell you not because I didn't trust you, but because I didn't want you to get involved. I also know that you went to see Jack behind my back for my sake. So, we were both thinking of each other, right?"
Jessica was finally moved by his words, leaned lightly against his chest, and said, "From now on, you have to tell me everything, okay? Otherwise, I'll worry."
"Okay."
Jessica, afraid of interrupting his work, said after a while, "I'll go now so you can focus on your work."
"Not staying to keep me company?"
James said, leading her to the nearby sofa and sitting down, whispering ambiguously in her ear, "With you here, I can work with peace of mind."
